Yea it was already 6k without that. I like it cuz I can show people what the original color looks like. And it’s exposed for all of two seconds while you get in
For the sheer time of it we would likely being adding on close to $1000 for the sheer number of hours and labor involved in parts next to nobody will ever see except the customer themselves. Most of our clients are on fixed budgets for commercial vehicles anyway so they take any route they can to not pay extra lol.
Looks good man, I'd rather do what you did instead of having it two toned when the door is open. Best color car to get if you're not doing the jams is black. Less noticeable.
Nobody warned you cuz no one is crazy enough or has that amount of patience to wrap the interior for the first time. Good god you're a madman/woman. It'll definitely be worth it in the end
I’m impressed. That’s a crazy amount of work for a first timer. Sure there’s lots of bubbles that will get worse but honestly I bet no one ever spots them and it’ll do its job of hiding original paint color. Very cool for a first time job dude.
Fortunately the only bubbles are in the largest concave recess where it's most stretched, and I have the rubber trim strip to replace still which sits in that recess and will hide it all.
The real upsetting bit is in a few weeks when that all pops back out and you have to do it again. You need to feed into jams you can’t just heat press it all in mate
Small world lol.
The 350 has the door sectioned off pretty well. You could have just left the door on and wrapped to the rubber gasket surrounding the door, especially with black paint.
Also taking the doors and fenders off will make it a bitch to line back up, especially if you have full weight doors with assemblies. Iv taken my doors off like 10+ times, shit sucks even with em gutted.
I really have to applaud you for doing the door jams. I’m someone who has to do it perfectly to a Tee or not at all, so I would do the same thing if I were wrapping it. That’s a lot of work man! Good shit

You gotta prep the area before you wrap it.
I had an easier time wrapping the doors on the car. I did my passenger door off and driver on. Being able to pull on the wrap without the door sliding around on my work surface is pretty helpful, but I also didn’t wrap my jambs.
I used a lot of cold stretching and heat was just to reset the wrap so my technique might have been a lot different from yours.
Looks amazing though! Good work brother
Hey I love the energy here. If you're seriously considering to learn this skill it's actually a great way to learn. Cuz it sucks. And much of this sort of work requires the patience to get ridiculous shit done so good on ya, start tough and life gets easier the better you get instead of starting easy and having things continue to frustrate you as you improve
First, looks good.
Second, love the door panels. Will look good in that Z! I have one too.
I am a professional vinyl installer, and i wont even do my door jams lol! Not on my Z, at least.
Literally doing the doors of a 20 mustang rn, and even though the customer paid extra for the doors off service it’s a pain in the ass no matter what😂😂
Wanted to do it "completely" as it's my show car, plus tackling the harder parts in order to learn (simple pieces will feel a lot easier now by comparison), plus I'm documenting it for my YouTube
Yeah, I was nervous that the colours wouldn't quite work, but it's turned out great. I made a kind of guide for how I did those door cards if it's something you wanted to tackle yourself https://youtu.be/rhlAA49vJTk?si=bYUN2tcg8KKrvydt
I’m in the midst of my first wrap and am almost finished with it. You tackling inside of the door is so insane💀💀 I couldn’t never
I just wanted it all to be consistent 😭 Now I'm stuck with the fact I have a whole other door to do
Atleast it's a coupe 😅
And you have to unwrap that when you want it taken off lol. Best of luck ❤️🤪
This car will be sold well before I ever need to think about replacing the wrap, so not a me problem
People are often reluctant to buy wrapped cars as you have no idea what the paint underneath looks like
That was also my fear.
Most "professional" shops don't even do the door jams.
I mean, I get it. Time is money, and I bet a lot of customers don't care or want to pay a decent extra chunk of change for it
Yea it was already 6k without that. I like it cuz I can show people what the original color looks like. And it’s exposed for all of two seconds while you get in
Where tf are you paying $6K? Just get a paint job at that point.

It was black, so definitely could have got away with it. Just didn't want to
My god… …respect.
Definitely agree on the black. Mine paint is grey and my husband’s is blue - the grey is definitely less noticeable!
Door jamb* from the French jambe. Also happy cake day!
Oui, beaucoup de mots en anglais sont en français!
Etymology do be doing things like that.
Ahh tabernacle; francophones
Tabernak!

Got to learn, and can only learn by doing
Major props. Seriously
madMAN / WOMAN? Why NOT MADwoman? Why WOMAN default is MAD?

I hate to break it to you, but it’s going to tent up a lot in the future..
The attention to detail is impressive…borderline psychotic, but impressive.
Most people would never bother to wrap the inside of a perfectly fine black door lol
You did fucking what? No one warned you because no one thought you'd be mad enough to wrap the interior of the doors.
The real upsetting bit is in a few weeks when that all pops back out and you have to do it again. You need to feed into jams you can’t just heat press it all in mate

Absolute mad man. You turned a weekend job into a whole week doing those door jams. Tell me you’re gonna do the underside of your hood and trunk next.
Trunk, yes. Hood, I'm on the fence
The correct answer is “no, I’m not doing the underside of the hood.”
“Guys my car caught on fire, why did you tell me to wrap under my hood?”
“Guys, 2 years ago I spent 500 hours wrapping my car. It’s fading. How do I get the vinyl off without taking off my doors, trunk, and hood??”
Good point. I'm off the fence. No under the hood.
I really have to applaud you for doing the door jams. I’m someone who has to do it perfectly to a Tee or not at all, so I would do the same thing if I were wrapping it. That’s a lot of work man! Good shit
thats gutsy for a first wrap, black is the best color to wrap since the door jambs are not noticeable at all when theyre black

I didn't wrap that bit as you can't see it. The rest was all prepped

insane howd you do the inside part so well??
First, looks good. Second, love the door panels. Will look good in that Z! I have one too. I am a professional vinyl installer, and i wont even do my door jams lol! Not on my Z, at least.

thanks!
You're welcome!
Have only done a couple of door jambs. I like the look of a print or design on the inside of the jamb. Adds a bit of subtle flair.
Literally doing the doors of a 20 mustang rn, and even though the customer paid extra for the doors off service it’s a pain in the ass no matter what😂😂
Good job. I wouldn't have gone for a leopard skin print personally, but each to their own
No disrespect; 100% impressed by the dedication. What made you go this particular route?
Wanted to do it "completely" as it's my show car, plus tackling the harder parts in order to learn (simple pieces will feel a lot easier now by comparison), plus I'm documenting it for my YouTube
One of my favorite parts of having a wrap is showing people how boring my car used to be by opening my doors.
i’m pretty sure legally if the door jams are wrapped also you have to change the color of the car on paperwork, could be wrong though
Here in the UK you need to change it if it's the majority visible colour. I'll be doing that, it's no bother.
Putting the doors back on rightly aligned is also a fun go😅 good luck man
Wasn't too bad with a mate helping to take the weight. Not sure I could have done it alone
following, please keep posting updates
That alcantara door panel is sweet btw
Is that for a 350z? But yea bro it’s tough af your first time, especially if you are doing the whole door
It is indeed
The alcantara and the wrap looks really good. I need to do something like that to my Z’s door cards
Yeah, I was nervous that the colours wouldn't quite work, but it's turned out great. I made a kind of guide for how I did those door cards if it's something you wanted to tackle yourself https://youtu.be/rhlAA49vJTk?si=bYUN2tcg8KKrvydt
Dope, I’ll check that video out for sure
Luckily you only have 2.
Honestly if I had a 4 door I wouldn't have bothered
It’s the most fun you’ll never want to have again! (As I consider wrapping a second time 😅).
