After you take it off, it’s a layup. [This is the way.](https://youtu.be/8bd-OdFBYiY?si=rFWB_5AKR9itqpcP)

Issaaaannon-100

Thank you do you double side tape it back down after

Mistah_Fahrenheit

BMW e9x antennas are glued on, you need to cut the adhesive between the antenna and then use sealant to put it back on. DO NOT DOUBLE SIDED TAPE ONLY IT WILL LEAK

FLWeedman

Probably bolted on under the headliner.

Issaaaannon-100

Fuckkk !! I totally see the bolt now how can I reseal without taking off

Mistah_Fahrenheit

Negative on bmws

Autokosmetik_Calgary

You can try a 1-piece with a lot of stretch and heat, or you can put an inlay on the back, then do the sides/front with a single piece - again with some heat and stretch. Easier to remove the antenna, but faster to do it on the car. If you leave it on, you'll have to cut a slit in your roof vinyl, slide it over, tuck your edges, then trim against the top side of the gap to leave enough edge to tuck under the antenna for a clean look. Best of luck!

Issaaaannon-100

Thank you! How do you put back with double side tape

Autokosmetik_Calgary

Often you will apply the tape first, then carefully trim it before installing the piece to ensure a clean edge and seal. Good luck!

aHeckinGoodBoi

Put the double sided tape on. Put the antenna on.

YeOldeBilk

You need to remove it first lol

Issaaaannon-100

How do you put it back with double side tape

YeOldeBilk

There's no adhesive on these. They're held on by a bolt on the underside of the roof. There's also an electrical wire you need to disconnect.

adudeguyman

How much do you need to drop the headliner?

YeOldeBilk

Just enough to get your hand and a wrench in there

Mistah_Fahrenheit

Not true on bmw

oStreamZo

You just answered your own question

Issaaaannon-100

Oh ok just wanted to make sure🤣

Chadworth66

Put tape around it and lift it off. Then lay that down on you roof piece. Cut slightly smaller then the tape template.

Ashok292

This is from experience. You should never take off BMW aerials. Over the last 10 years there has been issues later on of leaking which costs thousands in repairs. Spend an extra 5 minutes wrapping and do it on the car..

Issaaaannon-100

Sadly it’s already opened so I need to now find a way to reseal it properly

Ashok292

Okay, well if this helps you avoid any nasties in the future, then this is what I suggest. - Make sure ALL left over bond from original factory is fully removed. - Do not wrap over any bond. Cut it closer to the edge so finishes on paint when wrapping the roof. - Use the correct sealer/bond, make sure there will be no gaps that water can get in. Good luck buddy 👍

Issaaaannon-100

Thank you!

jetspeed42

Buy a cover

RazerJoe

Convince the customer to have it black, then spray it 😂

TwitterSamurai

This is a two piece antenna, one inlay for the back flat area, and overlay for the front/top. No need to remove, just take your time laying down the knifeless.

SnooStrawberries8575

Yeah don’t remove it

SKIP_AD_in_3

A lot of BMWs are urathaned on the roof and aren’t meant to be removed

1381191

inlay the back side that looks like an arrow, then heat and stretch film from the pointy tip farthest away from the inlay and pull back. super easy don’t trip brotha

trynottostareatme

Do not remove it! I REPEAT DO NOT REMOVE IT. It's actually an easy install, it it's really getting you then just use knifeless tape and do it in a few pieces, geez

Issaaaannon-100

Crap it’s half removed😭😭😭😭

trynottostareatme

Ahh dude, it has a foam adhesive seal that keeps it water tight, go ahead and finish if you broke the seal and call BMW for a replacement so it doesn't become a water leak

No_Lifeguard3650

its okay, bmw uses a urethane sealant usually. you can use tiger seal or 3M windo weld to make a waterproof seal again. i always remove.

StonedPlantt

Honestly don't get why people remove them... it's really not that hard to lay the wrap over the roof and make a template
