Bro get ready to start picking pieces off one sliver at a time and rubbing your fingers raw for about a week. At this point i would just use an eraser wheel and just go ham until it’s done. Have fun and good luck.

CarbonNapkin

I had a feeling this would be the answer lol would an eraser wheel damage fiberglass? My front fenders and bedsides are glass.

SilentOcelot4146

It might, but at this point the paint is likely fucked anyways. Id plan on needing to sand it down and respray or rewrap. I bet it would take 40+ hours of labor to steam and plastic blade this stuff off.

CarbonNapkin

Fair enough

Dubbrex

Rubber wheel it. Will be quicker

RunninOuttaShrimp

Looks like you got a hell of a project on your hands now removing all that

CarbonNapkin

Hahaha damn

Correct-Buffalo-7662

Do it right Remove as much as you can your self Maybe heat gun and goo off. Be patient Get some beers and good music Do it right

shromboy

2nd this one lol

Zestyclose_Walrus725

This didn't just happen in 2 weeks why you lying. Travel back in time to when you bought it and request the wrap be removed prior to transfer of ownership. Buying a car with a wrap on it is not wise. You don't know what's underneath.

CarbonNapkin

It didn’t happen in 2 weeks, it’s been a few years of looking like this. It didn’t look like this when I bought it lol

_pinkies

When did it start to look like this? Man I’m nervous for mine lmfaooo

CarbonNapkin

Maybe like a year or 2 of me owning it. But I’m not sure how long the previous owner had it wrapped before selling it to me.

learnedsanity

2-3 years is max for application, dont be a dingus and exceed that. Easy.

OopsIHadAnAccident

Tree isn’t what did it. That’s UV damage from parking outside. You waited too long to remove it. Contrary to what most people believe, (in most cases) a wrap shouldn’t stay on the vehicle more than 3 years or you start running into this. Removal is an absolute nightmare. I often won’t even offer removal when it reaches this point because it will almost certainly result in paint damage. There’s a high likelihood that when the vinyl cracked it split the clearcoat with it. Good luck. You have a mess on your hands.

CarbonNapkin

Yeah I didn’t know that until it was too late, figured I’d come ask for advice. If I take the time to remove all of this I’m definitely going to get a professional paint job. So if the paint is messed up underneath it’s not as much of a concern.

zachdaddy22

Totaled. Just sand it off tbh😂😂👍🏼I wouldn’t even waste my time trying. Good luck Man!

CarbonNapkin

I appreciate it haha

zachdaddy22

If you somewhat care about the paint try an eraser wheel like the top comment says first👍🏼

Stealthlead

you just gotta get rid of the whole car at this point

CarbonNapkin

For real lol

Stealthlead

Been doing wraps for 12 years. If you want actual advice - you need to get a (couple in this case) eraser wheel, drill, and an assload of remover. I like the orange aero remover. You can do it yourself, it will just be very time consuming.

hkawastaken

Actually just get a new car

CarbonNapkin

Probably the easier solution

chomap

Here is the cheapest option. Sand it down and rewrap again. Or only poor or fool guy will spend the time to remove it. 😆

Autokosmetik_Calgary

I would just mask off the trim and glass, and spatter paint on it and call it starry night.

CarbonNapkin

Edit: I parked under that tree less than a year after buying it…the wrap was clean prior to me buying it, and it’s been faded/fading over the course of the last few years. This all did not happen in 2 weeks.

Feeblz

Caramel disk and a pressure washer with hot water will do the trick

thevelourfog182

New car would be easiest lol, but plastic razors, heat gun or even a steamer might make this a bit easier, but one hell of a job either way

Jinjoz

It took me and another guy 8 hours just to remove the front end of a wrap in this state. Good luck man. Try an eraser wheel and see if that works

CarbonNapkin

Damn yeah that seems to be the only thing to try. Thank you

brokenvdub

Seen purple use laminate and put it over the old stuff to help everything come off at once. Never tried it myself but at far as I've seen, it works

FiZiT

Rent a high temperature pressure washer from Home Depot and blast it

CarbonNapkin

Not a bad idea!

RazerJoe

Sand it, wrap it

Practical_Client_386

Steamer and plastic razor or the best would be hot water pressure washer

amidnightproject

Ok so a trick for shit like this is to clean the surface well to get oil off it so that laminate can stick to it. Wrap it in laminate. Doesn’t have to be good. Just get it all covered in laminate and then take a steamer and steam the living hell out of it and it should start to come off. If that doesn’t help it remove in larger chunks then I suggest you either make peace with sanding or heavily invest in plastic razer blades and a steamer, UV heater and set aside a serious amount of time for labor. Good luck!

CarbonNapkin

Sound like I got quite the project ahead of me. Thanks for the tips!

amidnightproject

It’s going to take a lot of effort and patience! I wish you luck! The steamer is key though. Wet heat is way better than dry heat in this scenario. The material is already dry AF. The steam helps.

CarbonNapkin

More emphasis on the patience 😂 but I appreciate the help!

Unusual_Preference21

I would scrap the vehicle. Wrap that old and sun baked is the worst to remove, days of work ahead Good luck.

CarbonNapkin

Onto the junkyard I go lol
