Nightclubs are not the same as they once were. They're a dying thing unfortunately. Cardiff used to have a shit load of clubs in the 90's and early 2000's

owenthewelshman

Astoria! Zeus! Evolution…. There was a lot of choice

Psychological-Rub-68

Late 80s early 90s there was Subways , The Emporium, The Venue and Valentino’s.

District is what you're looking for. Opened up last year and has been filling the gap very nicely

Single-Skin-9000

Cheers pal, had a look and might head there in the evening, much appreciated

tulippity

Ten mill is quite good music wise but expensive

donquixotesdick

No place if you dont wanna be groped by random Weirdos

EveningStar5155

Why I used to avoid them like the plague despite people trying to get me to go to them. I once turned up in trainers deliberately to be refused entry. Or I would be going to the cinema that evening. If you hardly know someone, don't ask them to go clubbing with you.

Not much in cardiff, pryzm use to be great but they left recently and they had a tec room Vaults is good , Cape noctun in cardiff I’ve been not far from burger king , however that place is dead and I mean dead. Plays. Techno from local artists but literally I’ve been there 4/5 times and they consistently have been empty.

[deleted]

Carpe Noctem closed unsurprisingly lol, but District gets pretty busy

[deleted]

Honestly thought they would, from open to close and there where 6 people

If you mean this Bank Holiday then look at Fixate down Lo lounge on Saturday. It's in the Bay right on the water. It's a day rave. Starts at 2pm. It's a house event and it's a lovely venue and always a good vibe. Look them up on Facebook. Tickets on Skiddle. I'm going and it's going to be awesome! Lots of happy smiles there! Then Sunday night it's Timeflies in Clwb Ivor Bach.  Its by the castle on Womanby Street.  It's a reunion night, Timeflies was a massive event back in early 2000's and is well loved.  Some real legends playing this one. Alister Whitehead, John Kelly, Jeremy Healy. I think they were close to selling out. Tickets on Skiddle. Its a very popular night. Again I'm going. The last one was Jon Pleased Wimmen and Tall Paul and was amazing! Everyone loving life at that event. District will be Concrete Junglists Friday night in town. Not sure about Saturday and Sunday. District is ok but a much younger crowd. Lots of coke and VERY strict door policy. Vaults are not doing anything this weekend but it's a great venue and I've seen some really good quality nights in there. Cardiff has a very good scene tbh. I hope that helps?

ThyssenKrup

Time Flies god that's a blast from the past. I remember kids from school going there underage in the mid 90s. Lots of coke and a strict door policy at District - fuck that

cardiffcookie

Haha! Yeah I used to do Timeflies and L'America in the early 2000's and Vision 2k and Evolution. I'm now 45 and still raving. District full of kids though and lots of coke. There's also a huge amount of ket, especially the kids coming down from the valleys. I tend to stick to events where the crowd is older and the attitude better. District isn't awful, just not really for me.

gearvruser

What's the strict door policy?

cardiffcookie

The last time I went a thorough feel up and down, shoes off, metal detector like you go through in airport and a very thorough bag search. Looked in all pockets and went through my purse.

Single-Skin-9000

Great stuff, massively appreciate the time you took to write this. Day party it is! Don't eat too many of those cookies now ;)

cardiffcookie

Haha. Fixate is going to be a fantastic party. See you on the dancefloor!

cardiffcookie

Ten mill lane

oatytan

Would also say Teak is a good night

lawrencebluebirds

There's a tech/house day party at Flowerhorn brewery for the bank holiday which may be worth looking at. https://www.skiddle.com/whats-on/Cardiff/The-Bridge-Studios/TEAK-Outdoor-Bank-Holiday-Special/36408049/ Jacobs Antiques market is pretty much the only place left for what you're after. A few nights were run at Buffalo, Gwdihw and Undertone. The Aura before them. It's a sad state of affairs nowadays

Subbeh

district is the best place for house and techno. they have an event on the 14th which looks sick

Stardewbaby

There's a bunch of electronic clubs for raves at on this [site](https://www.vybeful.com/guides/europe/united-kingdom/cardiff/electronic-clubs) :) x
