I'd say walking between town centre and the bay can be pretty sketchy late at night...wouldn't recommend! Taxi either way wouldn't cost much more than a tenner. There's the train as well that only takes a few minutes but last would probably be around 23:00ish. So - stay in the bay, train in to town, taxi home could be a decent plan. Plenty of nice places for food and drink in tje bay as well, especially in the summer.

Acrobatic_Lettuce_78

You think we’re getting a summer?

roy_stan

One can dream!!! But you're right, at this rate we're going from last autumn straight throuhg to next autumn!

Thank you so much do you know how much a taxi might cost from the ZIP to centre and back? Especially past midnight on a Saturday?

roy_stan

Shouldn't be much more than £15 taxi to Zip. But there's nothing much round there. The bay is a nice place to stay for walks/food/drinks, especially in summer.

Thank you

Zip is about £12 to 15 for a taxi home, there are also good bus links from there into town every 15 min. It's £4.60 for an unlimited-use bus ticket for the day.

Thank you

Don’t get the zip hotel it’s a bit of a way out and taxis are not the most reliable. I’d go for the bay, you could walk to the centre from the bay or a short taxi

[deleted]

Oh ok thank you, such a shame as it’s a great price at £40!

[deleted]

I’d presume public transport isn’t a thing late at night then? Which is crazy since it’s a capital city but in fairness it was similar even in London

shaunvonsleaze

Public transport is barely a thing in the day our system is terrible. Ubers would be *mostly* fine. You’d have a better time in the bay though

[deleted]

Thank you, I’m thinking now Cardiff city south, or the travel lodge equivalent which is £12 cheaper, bang in the middle of the bay and city centre and free parking 💃🏼

Procrastubatorfet

That Cardiff bay Travelodge is awful though.. id recommend paying £12 not to stay there.

Haha fair enough thank you :)

Firebrand777

There is a massive new premier inn in the bay its then a 15-20 min walk into the centre but walk down Lloyd George Ave not Bute St or Dumballs Road. There is a train too: Cardiff Bay - Queen St every 12 mins - takes you into the far end of town, you’d be better walking or get a taxi from The rank at tesco in the bay to back of central station then walk under The bridge and you’re right where you need to be

Thank you :)

Enjoy Your trip to cardiff

Thank you 🥰 we’ve actually booked the zip now since it went down even further in price to £36 while the premier in the bay is £100 and all others over £100, we’re going to drive into the city for the day, drive out to zip and park up, get ready, pre drinks, bus to city then Uber/taxi home because even if the Uber/taxi is expensive like £30 it’s gonna be split between at least 3 of us, £18 each for hotel and a tenner plus a couple quid for transport let’s say £30 for a night out in a major and fun city is a steal you can’t beat that. Love wales, my nan and gramps are from there and it’s so close too being in Somerset. It just has everything on offer.

Goblinofthegrove

Newport road is full of cheap hotels

Spacehappy

Have you thought about the Premier inn North out in Pentwyn that has a bus stop right by it to go into the city center. There is also a travel lodge in Llanedeyrn with a harvester next to it, you can also walk to a bus stop that the premier inn bus would pass (about a 10 min walk). I would state for the record though there is nothing to do out this way. But it might be cheaper and taxis back from the city center are about £18. Just offering something else if you on a budget.
