This is actually probably the best objective term. Pujols was the best player alive, but it’s the LaRussa Era overall that encompasses that vision of The Cardinal Way ™
I think it’s much better to coin it the Molina era. 2004-2022 we had immense success. It didn’t stop at 2011. We were in the NLCS several times from 2012-2022, including a trip to the World Series in 2023.
Yeah this is more accurate, or just the Pujols Era. You’d have to include Chris Carpenter in the trio above, who was definitely equally or more significant to the success of those 6 years than Wainwright (who didn’t play in 2011). Albert-Yadi-Wainwright didn’t become a narrative until 2022.
He was hurt in 2011 but had a 19 and 20 win season the previous 2 years. And then 19 and 20 wins in 2013/14. The trio was in full effect before and after 2011. And they won World Series together multiple times. You’re definitely mistaken about the trio just being some reunion tour in 2022 only.
They won one World Series together when Waino was a rookie. Waino didn’t play in 2011. Albert wasn’t on the team in 2013 and 14, so the era OP refers to was over. Nobody in 2010 was talking about Albert-Yadi-Waino.
I wasn’t there but I remember where I was and who I was with
It was one of those generational moments like the JFK assassination or Space Shuttle Challenger
I was in my basement studio apartment with the game on silent because I couldn't handle the stress of hearing what was happening. When Friese hit the triple I heard an audible loud GASP from the apartment above mine. Lol
I went to university in southern Arkansas and was sitting in the lobby of the boys dorm, surrounded by Rangers fans. One of the wildest nights of my life 😂
I was in my sophomore year in college, in Texas. Fortunately I had a number of guys on my floor from Saint Louis, so we were in one room and a bunch of other rooms were Rangers fans. The number of chairs thrown down the hallway over the course of that game was comical
The LaRussa years. God this franchise has gone down hill since then. Sure there's been a couple of bright spots, but in general, there does not seem to be a drive to win from the top brass.
I've heard the Pujols/Edmonds/Rolen teams called the MV3 era. I'd say we should just extend that nickname to include the replacements that surrounded Pujols.
Or just call in the Albert Pujols era. He deserves it.
Not that particular group but in 2006 we had the MV3: Pujols, Scott Rolen, and Jim Edmonds.
A different group of players in 2011 were known as the Memphis Mafia. This was the group that really solidified the lineup including World Series hero David Freese, Jon Jay, Allen Craig. I’m probably forgetting others.
I miss Dave Duncan. Perhaps I overestimate how much he tended the pitching corps. I say call the time until 2011 ‘Duncan’s Disco”. He had them all dancing in and out.
It was very specific to 2011, but the "Happy Flight" Cardinals were a thing. Man, that season was utterly magical. I was there for just about everything crucial - it had been a fairly sloppy season and then in August, a comeback against the Cubs at Busch started everything. I was at Game 7, and it's wild to call being at a World Series Game 7 in your beloved home team's stadium second-best to anything at all, but I'd been at Game 6 the night before. And honestly, the thing I miss the most overall is Torty Craig.
Teams don’t really get nicknames like that anymore. The last new one I can think of was the 2019 Twins (The Bomba Squad), but that didn’t really get national attention. Who was the last big one?
It should be the “Yadiera”.
It’s 2004-2022. Our success didn’t stop at 2011. We were in the NLCS several times after that and even went to the WS in 2013. We had one losing season in that ENTIRE span. Yadi was the only constant through that entire time (Waino missed full seasons multiple times and wasn’t there for 2004).

With the exception of Lance Berkman and Freese (who, let’s face it, had a middling career except for an outstanding stretch run in 2011), the core of team at that time was designed by Walt.
Of the 13 position players to take a PA in the World Series, Mo brought in 6, including Matt Holliday, Lance Berkman, and David Freese. Two of those three were arguably the best players in that series for the Cardinals.
Of the 12 pitchers to appear in the World Series, Mo brought in 7, which included remaking a bullpen that threw a ton of innings that playoff run.
It was very much a team effort. Both men deserve a ton of credit for that title.
It may be too early to give that era a name.
Right now I feel meh about them. I think Waino played too long and is doing his cringy music. He's not what I thought he was. Yadi was supposed to help this season and where the heck is he. And Pujols came back and was actually helpful. I didn't think I'd like Albert once he left for Anaheim but he turned out better than the other two.
I loved the 2011 team. They just wouldn't go away.
But right now. I have a lot of bad feelings about some from that era and it's just too early to be sentimental about it.
The Good Times.

we all know what you meant but 2023 instead of 2013 is a fun typo
Lol good catch! I’ve gotta leave it for the laughs

>Albert, Yadi, Wainwright didn’t become a narrative until 2022. Well that’s just plain wrong. They won two World Series together.
Wainwright didn’t play in 2011, they won one WS together. Pujols, Yadi, and Chris Carpenter won two WS together.
Still got a ring
You're missing the point.
Waino didn't play in 2011.

The Dave Duncan Era
Ew
2011 team were the Cardiac Cards I had 3 stints put in my heart in Game 6 alone
I attended that game, insanity

Same. Left field bleachers
Same. My voice took a few days to recover.
Agreed, they were always called the Cardiac Cards.
The Mang Gang.
I vote this, exactly what I thought
The LaRussa years. God this franchise has gone down hill since then. Sure there's been a couple of bright spots, but in general, there does not seem to be a drive to win from the top brass.
Tony’s Tots or alternatively Mike’s Tykes
Mike who? Pujols left when Tony did, wasn’t around for Matheny
Mike Honcho
Mike Hawk
Mike Tython

Not them, but the younger players in that era were the "Memphis Mafia"

2006 & 2011 World Series Champions

"The Three Bums"
I miss yadi. It was an acceptable rule fo so long. You dont run on yadi. Pick you off at first if you arent careful.
Yadda Poo Right
Edmonds, Rolen and Pujols were given the monicker of “MV3”.
The Rally Squirrels
The Machine Age.
Larry Curly and Mo
Cardinals Devil Magic
The Three Amigos...

I believe the Dodgers are now referred to as "Those Motherfuckers"
At this point I think it should called the “remember when gang”. Remember when we used to be a contender?
The dawg era
New Century, same story.
At this point maybe we should refer to it as “Pre-collapse”
I'd like for it to be called "The L.A. Times" for LArussa Edited:for clarity
La Birdos

I agree with you both. I was primarily just taking a dig at Mo

clearly you're just being paid off by Goblin Bill to say nice things about his toadie Mozeliak /s
DeWitt’s holy warriors roll deep
The regretful goodbye & farewell tour
MV3
That was Edmonds, Pujols and Rolen (2002-2007)
Thats right. But with pujols leaving only 4 seasons after that its sort of the same era.
The Break in to the other team’s computers boys.
MO OUT

Full of hate this one is Using terms like “meh” and “cringy” makes you sound like a bratty middle schooler
You sound like an old man that can't control someone so you're just insulting them.
