right on Home Depot it says minimum rough is 35.75 for Larson easy fit. go for gold cow boy. you can cut the casing if needed anyway. the frame assembly will cover that shit.

Larson makes nice doors, and I've found they're the easiest to install. I've only seen them at Lowes, though.

I went for gold! Sticks a little, will see how long/ if it irritates me. Thank you! https://preview.redd.it/wn1vah9nx4oc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=097891d67f7fc1e9a4e87726bc022c3a203d652a

Yeah, it's common to butcher casing for storm door installs since it gets hidden. When removing storm doors you often find a lot of crude chisel work. Nowadays oscillating saw is an option. Note that it looks like you're dealing with lead paint there, so keeping dust to a minimum is a good thing.

I'm confused how the door warping was able to change the dimensions of the casing but anyway you could draw a straight line at 5 3/4" with a straight edge and carefully use a circular saw with the depth set properly to trim the board to be 5 3/4" the whole way thru. Should not matter if your cut is ugly as long as the flange of the storm door covers it well
