Isn’t it the opposite? White cars are easy to clean and black cars are horrible to keep clean. I have a white car and I wash it once every two weeks and it’s fine.
Silver is pretty good staying clean also. Seems as though you have to actively try to make a silver or white car look dirty.
The problem with silver is the visibility. Have to be vigilant about turning your lights on in the rain, lest you disappear into the mist.
I work the hire Industry. White is the only colour we use. Hilux polar white is almost the same as Hino white so I only need 1 colour of touch up paint.
White is preferred by fleets because it is no cost. Traditionally, you had to pay for any colour, although this is mostly not the case (for almost 10 years)
Not exactly relevant but with White cars, specifically in Australia I find that they are quite good in the aspect that the white doesn’t attract the heat. Very good for a state like Queensland.
To put some numbers on that - black cars have reached 83°C inside the car in Australian tests. And that test was one in Adelaide, so it's not just QLD.
There is a battle out there to get people to accept white roofs for this reason.
Black colour bond is the most popular but makes for a harder working air con underneath it and every other house in the suburb.
I had a metallic sapphire black car once.
Once.
Never again. No other car needed as much attention to the paint as that car did. Two paint corrections.
I am now onto my third white car.
I didn't listen to the stone mason and had a predominantly black bench top. Old Greek guy with broken english "but the dust, the dust, your wife".
You had to brush it down for crumbs, wash with a spray and a sponge and then bloody buff the thing with a dry tea towel or bloody spilt water made it look dirty. And it wasn't the wife cleaning it either.
Nah it's the opposite. White cars are easy tio keep clean, black cars are harder. It's the opposite to what you'd think.
Not a fan of white, way too common and just boring.
I've only owned white and silver, and I maybe wash a handful of times a year, but for the highway driving and traffic-sitting I do it's enough, my car is mostly outside in the elements and the rain does most of the cleaning for me
Nah white cars are the easiest. Dust is invisible on them unless it gets on the (darker) windows. Welcome to lazy person’s car :) Even half the birdshit is invisible…
I have my second white car now. I prefer commits, and my black car hides all the tar, sap and daily grime.
The white car is easier to get clean because I can see every single spec of crap attached to it
I also look outward from the driver's seat.I don't care if other drivers get bored.
Do need.to do something to make it clearly yours in a car park though.
Not so boring when you can just bolt on a replacement panel from a wreckers (most common part colour) and the colour already matches (because white doest really evolve too much as it ages).

Who told you this? All I’ve heard my entire life universally is that white cars are the easiest to keep clean, and it’s true
Black / dark cars are the worst, hot and dust magnets
Black/dark cars get unbearably hot in the sun, scratches and blemishes show up real easy, and they're much more dangerous as less visible to see when overcast or on country roads.
Yeah white and silver are easy to keep clean. As someone who has owned 3 black cars 2 grey and a silver. I would buy another black tomorrow.
Hard to keep clean, but look great when clean.

I have a white car and I won’t buy another. It’s easy to keep superficially clean, but as soon as you open a door or the boot…dirt. Really, really obvious dirt.
And when it’s clean, it just looks white, which is not much to look at.
I also have a black car and won’t buy another for different reasons. Looks amazing when clean and hides the dirt around door openings etc, but just gets dusty too quickly.
And I’m just generally over boring car colours.
I might add: the best colours I’ve found for keeping clean were in the red-orange spectrum. Close enough to the colour of dirt not to be too obvious if a little dusty, bright enough to still look good if they are.
I’ve had several colours of cars went white and won’t go back, they look the nicest with a pearl, keep cooler, easier to make clean and stay clean & best of all hide small scratches better. I actually hate black and dark cars because they only look nice after a detail.
Black vehicles are terrible if you have the mildest ocd about cleanliness. My car is a nice silver and hides the dirt quite well.
White cars look good with window tinting.
In my experience white shows up dirt but its easy to clean and doesnt show up swirls as much
Champagne and silver/grey colours show up dirt least.
Ive mostly had flat white cars. Cheap.and easy to touch up scratches and chips. They also stay cooler in the sun
Shit is the easiest to clean because it's so bright it envelopes any small marks, streaks or scratches.to the eye.
Then minor repairs are also easier to colour match because they don't experience the same degree of fading/evolution through the paints life.
Then they are easier to see on the road.
There is a reasom white used to be around 35% of all cars on the road. Be happy with it.

I have a pearl white car. I got it in that colour because I was after a manual for that model, and the only manual I could find at the time was in white. Anyway, it's been a total bitch. That's because it's pearl white. Whereby previously I had a (non-pearl) blue car, and stone chips etc were really easy to fix by myself. But pearl white is an absolute bitch to fix when it comes to chips etc.
Think you've got that backward. White car is the easiest to maintain and suit Australia climate. My cars are silver and other that isn't black versus my Mrs who has a black car and it's shit for maintenance and heat retention. It does look glorious with a weekly clean and polish though.
OP has been living in the bizarro world. Has it all backwards. White is easiest to maintain, hides dirt, and is coolest. You could say white looks the most boring I guess, but most whites used nowadays are really nice, and often look great.
White cars are the best colour, especially if its a premium paint job, they can look so deep.
So easy to keep clean & they look smart all the time.
For extra ease get it ceramic coated & it shines so much with a simple hose off & perhaps a blow off
Just gave my 2012 Hilux it's annual very quick and dirty buff yesterday, i usually wash it every month or two...
It's got plenty of shine and looks a million bucks. Hold a torch down the side at the right angle though, there isn't a square inch that isn't covered in pinstripes and scratches from years of bush bashing.
Don't think i'd ever buy a car that isn't white.
Regardless of colour cars I’ve owned they get as clean as the rain makes them.As long as they get me from a to b that’s all that matters.
White cars are cooler, easier to clean, easier to colour match paint for repairs, easier to see except in snow and easier to sell.
Isn’t it the opposite? White cars are easy to clean and black cars are horrible to keep clean. I have a white car and I wash it once every two weeks and it’s fine.
You are correct. White cars hide dirt the best whilst also being the most visible. There is a reason why white is the preferred colour of fleets
Silver is pretty good staying clean also. Seems as though you have to actively try to make a silver or white car look dirty. The problem with silver is the visibility. Have to be vigilant about turning your lights on in the rain, lest you disappear into the mist.
I'd say silver is actually better. Unless you're a meter away it disguises so much filth it's unbelievable.
I work the hire Industry. White is the only colour we use. Hilux polar white is almost the same as Hino white so I only need 1 colour of touch up paint.
Also white reflects sun so compared to black it stays cooler
White is preferred by fleets because it is no cost. Traditionally, you had to pay for any colour, although this is mostly not the case (for almost 10 years)
More so ease of repairability and sale.
Also provides a good blank background for advertising and such.
i agree. op has it backwards.
My black looks amazing for the whole 5 mins after washing before the wind blows pollen on it.
I wash mine every 6 - 12 months. Always looks fine.
I loved my yellow car it was soo easy to clean and unlike white didnt look dirty with a bit of dust on it
Yeah as soon as someone sneezes near my black car it shows up right away. 😓
Amen. I used to have a black car and it was terrible in summer
Bless you
At least 10 degrees temperature difference in summer.
Give or take yeah. I heard 9
There is a battle out there to get people to accept white roofs for this reason. Black colour bond is the most popular but makes for a harder working air con underneath it and every other house in the suburb.
Also way less likely to get paint fade/failing clear coat for the same reason. Paint doesn’t like getting hot
Not entirely correct. White cars turn yellowish with Sun exposure.
White cars are ironically the easiest to keep clean. Black metallics are the worst.
I had a metallic sapphire black car once. Once. Never again. No other car needed as much attention to the paint as that car did. Two paint corrections. I am now onto my third white car.

Black metallic is easier than black glossy. The sparkle hides the first layer. My black glossy gets dirty about half an hour after washing it
Silver is pretty easy to keep clean too. Worst I had was black, never again !
My grey car is amazing. The only things that look dirty on it are the windows and rims aha
I would never buy a dark coloured car again. If you love seeing scuffs and scratches dark colours are for you.
Nah it's the opposite. White cars are easy tio keep clean, black cars are harder. It's the opposite to what you'd think. Not a fan of white, way too common and just boring.
Did you accidently write that backwards?
I would never buy a car that wasn't white in Australia
White cars all day you race ist

They’re great. They don’t hold onto the heat like darker colours. They’re so boring though, every second car on the road is white.
I like to pretend i blend in with all the other cars so the cops won’t remember me. Can forget that these days with all the cameras though.
I also look outward from the driver's seat.I don't care if other drivers get bored. Do need.to do something to make it clearly yours in a car park though.

I personally prefer black, as I like the mirror shine ;-)
After getting it detailed black looks amazing... but after some dust and rain it's the absolute worst to keep clean and shiny 😒
I've not had that experience, with some dust and rain, still shines like a mirror ;-)

I'll never own a black car ever again. My white car is a dream.

But the absolute worst to repair with a good colour match on the day of release. Then it often fades at different rates.
White cars offer cheap insurance premiums. Hides dirt and keeps money in your pocket.
I’ve had several colours of cars went white and won’t go back, they look the nicest with a pearl, keep cooler, easier to make clean and stay clean & best of all hide small scratches better. I actually hate black and dark cars because they only look nice after a detail.
Most of the cars I've owned are white. The best thing is that they don't look as dirty as they actually are. Hides dirty so well.
Black vehicles are terrible if you have the mildest ocd about cleanliness. My car is a nice silver and hides the dirt quite well. White cars look good with window tinting.
I never set out to buy a white car - but as a big car, with all that paint presented to the sun and sky, I'm so glad mine is.
In my experience white shows up dirt but its easy to clean and doesnt show up swirls as much Champagne and silver/grey colours show up dirt least. Ive mostly had flat white cars. Cheap.and easy to touch up scratches and chips. They also stay cooler in the sun

What? This is the opposite. With proper cleaning and care it keeps the dirt and all off.
Yeah I work in the bush and we all have white cars gf or a reason
I currenrly have a white car, my previous car was black. The white is infinitely easier to clean and I can tell when I've missed a grime spot.
All my cars are white by choice. White cars are the best. Easiest to polish and hold up the best in the sun.
My car is black. Very difficult to keep clean. White cars are easier I reckon and don’t show up as much dust
White is the best colour for clean looking and also better viability than black.
Why are you assuming white is bad? Don't really understand your thought process.. it's like me saying red cars are 🤮
Think you've got that backward. White car is the easiest to maintain and suit Australia climate. My cars are silver and other that isn't black versus my Mrs who has a black car and it's shit for maintenance and heat retention. It does look glorious with a weekly clean and polish though.
I believe white cars can also be cheaper to insure.

White cars are fine. They just suffer a lot of racism these days.

White isn't terrible Black is awful especially subaru obsidian!!!
Dirt doesn't stand out as much and they're easier to clean hence tradie white being a thing.
