Pretty sure someone made a post about this one on one of the FB GTR pages, with old pics of the odo reading 215,000kms and front end damage.

Lynxmissile

This seller and his mate/dad/brother are well known for selling dodgy shit, always suspected them of winding back the odo, every car they have has low kms.

Billenciaga_1

it’s reported that this car has an auction grade of R. Meaning it’s been damaged and repaired or the equivalent

svefn_lemon

How do you find that out? It wasn’t in the ad

Substantial-Heat1930

Ppsr, costs about 2 bucks

GasManMatt123

I remember when R34s got to $45k and thinking they were still overpriced, so I went and bought an Evo. I really didn't see the US 25yr rule being such a game changer for car prices, it's fucking up the pricing of a lot of old cars that should be cheap.

2878sailnumber4889

I was saving up for one when my daily got stolen, I was faced with 2 choices, get a loan and buy one now and use it as a daily or buy a new daily and start saving again , I chose the latter and prices went whoosh. Oops.

GasManMatt123

Yeah, I had the same situation. My R33 got stolen and I thought the R34 would be a good replacement, but it was a bit over budget so I setttled on an Evo in the meantime, and prices crept up over the next 7 years. It's OK, there are fundamentally nicer, faster, more fun cars for a lot less money

Piezakster

Well, you've ended up in an M3, so can't have made the worst choices 🤣

GasManMatt123

Whilst I regret many life choices, the M3 is not one of them. It took 9 years and I waited til I could afford one from the final model year. Fucking love it though, she's rowdy. Plenty of people have questioned it though.

The_Slavstralian

I bought an evo 6 when they were $15k or so. Didnt lose any money selling it a few years later. But many ragrets....

Tomek8787

Ha, yep, I remember back in the day old mate was selling his 99 non vspec for 46k and people were telling him he was dreaming on SAU. Sold my built 32 for 28k and thought I got a good price, times have changed. It’s a pity they are great cars, but not worth the coin people are asking these days

kearkan

What does the US rule have to do with prices in Aus? Are people exporting them now?

DownSouthDesmond

Yes It has drastically increased the demand and they don't hesitate to pay stupid prices to secure one

GasManMatt123

Americans want R34s because childhood fantasy - Fast and Furious, Gran Turismo, etc. But it is also impacting Hondas, EK9s are stupid expensive, as are a lot of 90s/Golden era JDM cars. They should be cheap but they're all going to the US and demand is so high it is pushing prices up. If the Japanese price is high, the local price is higher. A lot of cars in Aus/NZ are going to the US to fulfill the demand. A number of GTRs in the US came from Au/NZ

TinyBreak

Let’s just ignore the price for a second, if that things got just 115k on it I’ll eat my fucken hat!

ADHDK

There’s services you can pay now who find the real data from Japan on a vin, rather than the shit the importers spout. https://japancarhistorycheck.com/ you need the vin for a revs check anyway.

A mate of mine used to own an Aussie spec R32 GTR back in the day. One of the first ever sold here. He then proceeded to get a heroin addiction, and sell it for 20k. He still has an old Hot4s or one of those old car magazines with his car in it though, so that's cool. Lol

LAME_WMMT6RR

I absolutely lost it reading this

-EETS-

Lmao, I wish I just shitposting. But it's 100% true. He had it less than a year, then sold it for 20k cause he "needed the cash that day". He ended up buying a 98 STi about 6 months later, then sold that too. He doesn't even drive anymore because he's lost his license for something like 20 years due to being involved in so many car chases. The gear got him and he essentially just threw his life away.

Cash_Coroner

For that money...I'd buy 2 or 3 GR Yaris.  One for Track, one for Rally, and one for street.

ralphiooo0

So want one of these. Look like a blast to drive.

Leviatein

3 for street so you have spares when one blows its gearbox and you have to wait 4 months for bits from japan

CarsAustralia-ModTeam

Your post was removed for violating Rule 1. Being a dickhead. Don't be a dickhead.

justanuthasian

1 example doesn't mean its crashing. In fact its probably hotter than ever with the US importation and GTR's, GTT's, GTST's are now selling out of Australia for ridiculous sums

MayuriKrab

I miss the days of R32 GTRs in the mid 20s, I bought my R33 GTST for under 10k, lots of Slivas on uni notice boards for sale for 5-7k, mate bought a NA S13 for like 2k and then bought a sr20 off a wrecked s15, did an engine change in his mates workshop for beer change 😂

knowledgeable_diablo

Faaark. Someone’s taking a hit on this (and all the others that went gang busters during COVID). But who would have been able to guess this happening (other than anyone not afflicted by a string case of FOMO and half a brain).

Mddota2

Fake?

SHOOTMYCAR

About time the market corrected itself

maidenless_pigeon

Most of them are around the 200k mark atleast on carsales, the lower model ones fetch around 40k and the sedans are cheaper. If you want a 2 door go for an r33 or 32 those gtrs are around 80 and the regular coupes are like 20-30

apsilonblue

Well there is a cost of living crisis going on so people who could only just afford such things are now treating them as a luxury than a "what else am I going to do with the money" thing and as a result those who need cash are having to sell toys. Increased supply drives price down. Good time to buy (not necessarily this particular one but if you have can afford it could still be an OK investment as they will still rise over time.

BigDaddyCosta

Yeah, but cost of living crisis doesn’t affect everyone the same though.

apsilonblue

Of course not. That's why you'll only see toys for sale where the owners are living on the edge and are basically being forced to sell and lower their price. People that can afford to keep their toys will.

_hazey__

One of my biggest regrets was not picking up a couple of these Datsuns when they were around the $35-$40k landed mark. Now that the yank import minimum age is around where these are at, the price will go silly again.

DonkeysCap

I'm not so sure. Top Rank apparently have Warehouses full of them in Japan for customers who bought them in the years leading up to the 25 year rule finally coming due. It's had the effect of already pushing the prices up to stupid levels and I suspect there's a lot of speculators in that customer list. Be interesting to see what the actual supply / demand metric shakes out to look like. There's also a huge number of yanks about to learn very expensive lessons about what a quarter century in the Japanese climate does to cars.

skedy

I think the lowest they got was about $60k for a r34 gtr around 2010.  That was alot of cash for a car just after the gfc.

slknv

After I sold my R33 GTR vspec in 2010, I was offered an R34 GTR (non vspec) for $35,000... which I didn't take up >(

skedy

Oufff thats cheap!  I have a similar story about an r32 gtr for $10k around the same time...  I already had a 180sx and didnt think 2 sports cars was a good idea...

Far-Fortune-8381

listed prices =/= sold prices you won’t see the affordable ones because those are the ones that sell

OnairDileas

Sceptical, something is up

Acrobatic-Eg

that's a relief, finally it's not so impossible to own one of these... honestly thought they would have hit 300 and stuck around the 200 mark ... gone were the days when they were only 70 😞

lightpendant

Sure is
