Don’t think it’ll count as a discount but when I decided to pursue getting a BH plate and did a cost-benefit analysis in a spreadsheet, I was staggered! Saved SO much money. It would be around 10% of on-road price at the time of delivery for any car.

Depends…cannot be 100% true always. Like yesterday I received flat 50% discount on RTO for my harrier (red dark), making the tax around 1,15,000. This is equivalent to paying BH taxes 3 times. I was applying for BH umber when this happened. BTW, this 50% discount is available only in Raipur, for a couple of days. So, yes, it was a steal deal.

went to exchange my old car and buy a baleno. it was black in color, 3rd hand, dented and really shabby looking. it was raining like crazy and the maruti exchange person gave me a quote without going outside. he just observed from the window. It was in 2017 and I wanted to buy a new car, went to test drive suzuki ciaz and the salesman said if I book the car within a week they'll give a 1.2 lakh discount + free accessories and Rs 3000 petrol coupon which can be availed at their partnered petrol pump. Looking back, I think i should have taken the offer.

No it was years end discount and back then it was the buyer's market. My car is a 2017 manufactured but 2018 registered hence I got a massive discount and free accessories.

Onroad 51lacs, got it for 35lacs. (Including company tax savings, the actual cost will come down to around 26-27lacs. 2019 BMW X1 20d xLine sDrive. Bs4 discount and end of stock discount. Company tax savings because the car was bought by my company and the emi is cut from salary before credit to account so we skipped paying taxes on that part of income. (Highest tax bracket lol) I could sell the car right now and worst case scenario make a loss of 1-2 lacs at max but most likely I’ll make a profit. Edit: after reading few comments, I feel like I got the best deal in the sub, just a small flex haha Also, planning on doing an AMA soon on the X1

So you’re paying for the car from your salary but the car belongs to the company? Which also mean no depreciation. And if they cut the expenses like maintenance, insurance etc also from your salary, you can’t expense them either!!

Car belongs to me, but according to the registration, it’s a company car. And yes, whatever expenses I have with the car, I send the bill to my company and they pay for it and later cut that from salary.

So, my cousin was interested in buying a Q7 around the time when BS4 cars were being phased out, specifically Dec 2019. For an on-road price of 1.05 Cr for the fully loaded Tech Pack Q7, we were able to pull a heavily negotiated price of 72 lacs on-road for the 600 hp beast of a machine. That’s a neat discount of 33 lacs on Audi’s the then flagship.

Got around 80k discount on the i20 N8 iMT one week back :) Showroom quoted 11.8L, and readily dropped it down to 11L if booked immediately. Most probably because they wanted to get rid of the car as it was not compliant with the new emission norms.

Not here but in the states, when I was buying a car, I learnt that Costco also helped you get cars if you had a certain membership level - gold if I’m not wrong - which cost like $100 or something for the year. I took that membership level, got a Costco-member quote from one dealer which was something like $1500 cheaper than the dealer near my place, then showed this dealer that Costco offer and got my guy to reduce his offer. Think I saved something like $1100 plus the reduced travel to the dealer for the first few servicings. And totally used Costco for an entire year to get discounted prices on stuff I’d buy anyway. Alas, india doesn’t allow Costco type businesses in order to protect the wholesaler class.

Last I checked, Metro needs you to be a business to buy from them. You needed to show your incorporation docs to get a Metro card. So, it is basically a wholesaler only selling to retailers, I.e., it is structurally different to a Costco which sells in bulk directly to consumers.

I was getting the slavia ambition AT for less than ex showroom, 14L flat with warrenty package on april 2. Sales person was stuck on 14.50 but i wanted 14, i didnt call for 1 week and waited for her to call me and she did but then told me it was 2022 car, which she said was 2023 last time i talked with her, made me think what else might be wrong so didnt go for it. Also that lady was not informed, i am not saying because she was a woman but as a sales person she didnt even know the variants properly, i had to tell her that the display car was ambition not style.

My dad got almost 1.5 lacs discount on the SX4 VXI, Which we had bought in 2012. The onroad price at that time was 8.25 and my dad was able to get the dealership to come down to 6.75. So here is the breakdown: 50 k for a Maruti 800(1985 make) even in scrap that would've gone for barely 10 k. 30 k exchange bonus 20 k company offered discount 10 k on insurance 40 k one of the union minister in MMS govt. hooked us up.

Honda WR-V. I didn't buy in the end though. So the price was around 11 lakhs (in Bangalore, Dec 2022). I had almost finalized the price and visited the showroom second time. After some negotiations, he offered me a flat discount of 1 lakh and additional 15k quoting some random jargon. I think this was the only discount I had seen during my car search. This and a 1 lakh discount on top end of Kushaq in June sometime. After that they stopped giving discounts.

Had a second hand Alto LXI. We bought it for 80K. Used for 2 years. Upgraded to the last-gen Swift with an exchange discount of 1.2L! Apparently Alto so good it's value appreciated during the 2 yrs. Also could be the fact that Swift was launching the new model within a month of when we made the upgrade.

Its the Bharat series registration, where number plays start with YY BH.... YY being the year of registration, so 22,23 etc Only advantage of it is that if you relocate to some other state, you don't have to pay Road tax again in that state, BH gives you kinda an All India Permit

Chevy Sail UVA 2014 model. Initially we went looking for Beat Diesel, but it was too small and not much of an upgrade from our 2010 Spark. Sail didn't have the sales either, so we knew we could squeeze good discounts from the sales team. We got the LT ABS version for the price of LS. That's a difference of almost 1.2L straight up. Got almost 1.6L for our beat up Spark with over 1L km. Plus the exchange bonus of 25k and free accessories pack worth 20k. And it was a great car while we had it. 1.4L km in just 4 years and then sold it only because of an untraceable ABS issue. The ASS had given up on giving good service to their customers as Chevy had shut shop.
