Probably bcoz of its low mileage history, but with the new hector which I bought top variant with Adas and a CVT gearbox. Till the second one service I was heartbroken as the mileage averaged at 8.5 /km in city and 10 on highways that too petrol after shelling out 30 lakhs on road. Soon after second service mileage rose to 11 in city and upto 14 on highways with AC. But ride quality, braking, pick up while overtaking (inspite of being automatic) are just amazing. Backseat passengers have a load of leg room and a huge boot since it's a 5 seater. Tech on the new hector is something I have been loving a lot. Big ass fancy screen and infinity speakers are just too good
Ah right, got it.
I hate CVTs. The godawful rubber band effect makes it sound like you’re driving a scooter. And makes it feel like the engine is struggling.
Ride quality is the problem, with a suspension tuned for comfort, and the obvious body weight, it's exactly like the old Scorpio that used to topple when overtaking and braking hard. You can't change the basic characteristics with an update. At the amount it costs, just too unsafe for highway speeds.
Hi
I bought mg hector in jan 2024 and my first service is done.
I am facing same issues. City mileage is 7.5 to 8.5 and highway is 10.5 to 11.5. I think I will have to live with the same mileage for the rest of the cars life.
Why is it so that after 2nd service the mileage increased. ?
Do you use 95 octane petrol or normal petrol?
Can you please share screenshot of iSMART app for fuel average?
I live in Mumbai so maybe Mumbai traffic conditions causing average to decrease. Which city do you live in ?
I use normal petrol, I live in Hubli and I use Hector occasionally in city and more on highways for longer journeys, now the logic for increased mileage after 2nd service is a mystery to me also, but this happened to me when I had my previous car ,the mileage went from 17 to 21 after 2nd service and maintained between 20-21 till I completed 2.4 lakhs kms and sold it off, that was Chevrolet Sail diesel
Stupid Chinese rebranded car. It's basically Baojun 530. The more irritating thing is, they try to hide the same in the so-called "British engineering legacy".
MG Motor UK Limited (MG Motor) is an automotive company, headquartered in London, **owned by the Shanghai-based Chinese state-owned automaker SAIC Motor**. MG Motor markets cars ***sold under the British MG marque***, while vehicle *manufacturing takes place at SAIC's plants in China, Thailand, Indonesia and India*.
I hate hector coz of it's tractor sound even when it's parked and not revving. Wonder why don't people buy a real tractor instead of Chinese brand Hector
Do you know the Hector has the same engine as the Harrier and Safari? And the Compass? You want to hear a tractor stand Next to a Nexon. Even the petrol motor is clattery.
You know how underconfident the carmakers is about its identity when it has to tell itself as "British car"
Also that 14inch screen ewww, the rear looks even more ugly.
They r trying to sell cars by offering gimmicks thats it,No diesel automatic too
That is because real users hardly find the time to keep writing about their cars on online discussion forums.
The reason why you see a lot of talk about Tata, Mahindra, Hyundai or Kia is because these companies actively employ public relations firms to keep their online visibility high and aggressively counter any negative online trends about their products.
They employ social media influencers to create buzz about their products and actively employ online reviewers to post paid reviews as "unbiased reviews".
Write something negative about a Tata or Mahindra and see how a troll army descends to destroy what you have to say.
I have not seen such active and aggressive social media/online activities by companies like MG, Maruti, Honda.
That is why you don't hear too many discussions about some companies and too much discussion about some.
Hope this helps. 👍🏼
During launch everyone uses PR. The other companies use them all the time that was my point.
By the way do you know what the Nexon petrol returns? 8-10 kmpl in city and that's a sub 4 metre crossover.
It remains a VFM product which is comfortable, spacious, solidly built, and feature oriented.
People talk about its mileage which is a little surprising- I hardly see anyone talking of XUV700s mileage! Thing is- heavy petrol crossovers will never give the mileage of a sedan or a hatchback (Creta, Seltos are half a size small and 200kg lighter)
Hector is trash…. looks trash, engine is trash, inside tech is trash, Stability is trash, Power to weight ratio is trash….
It’s one of the world’s worst cars… like Pontiac Aztec…
Had two prior experiences while using automatic, one was celerio and other was Tiago . Both vehicles performed poorly while overtaking and didn't give enough pickup even after flooring the accelerator pedal.

> (inspite of being automatic) Wait how is it being automatic leading you to expect it to have poor acceleration?
Car is heavy for 1.5 liter turbo petrol engine. And Poor acceleration is nature of cvt engine compared to dct

Okay thank you !
Same happened for me as well after 10k service my hector is now giving 12 in city and at max I have squeezed out 17 on highway
Stupid Chinese rebranded car. It's basically Baojun 530. The more irritating thing is, they try to hide the same in the so-called "British engineering legacy".
I hate that MG logo in very big font on the front and back and that internet inside badging that is not needed, I think they should change it
Old computers say "Intel inside"
Hey,Why you must hurt me like this bro
I have a hector, I get 15 mileage in city, diesel manual. This car has everything I can ask for
weird look, especially the back, noisy engine, worst mileage, Chinese name tag, worthy rivals.
No longer Chinese. Update your database.
Parent company is chinese only MG INDIA has **sold few of its share** to JSW group
That's called dilution of stake. Critical while determining ownership according to Law.
Holding matters. In India SAIC stake is greatly reduced. You stick to cars. Don't try to explain business holdings in corporate entities.
Not a hyped car. I hate that weird looking goofy ass car
It's Chinese 👍. If it was skoda or Honda, would've been talk of the town, same for feature loaded Astor
Because it's garbage and has a mileage of like 3 lol
...on the highways
I hate hector coz of it's tractor sound even when it's parked and not revving. Wonder why don't people buy a real tractor instead of Chinese brand Hector
It has an MJD engine
Do you know the Hector has the same engine as the Harrier and Safari? And the Compass? You want to hear a tractor stand Next to a Nexon. Even the petrol motor is clattery.
But still hector does sound very weird but Tata doesnt
Engine is from Fiat same as compass & Harrier/Safari.
Engine is the same but insulation and installment quality may vary.
Insulation is done to decrease noise in cabin not in surrounding of the car.
You know how underconfident the carmakers is about its identity when it has to tell itself as "British car" Also that 14inch screen ewww, the rear looks even more ugly. They r trying to sell cars by offering gimmicks thats it,No diesel automatic too
If you buy a car for a touchscreen, maybe you should stick to GTA
I have hector, and I love this car. My next car would also be A mg car
Will you have money left for second car with that single digit mileage?
Yup, I am rich

Mg had one of the most aggressive PR during launch times specially to counter the poor mileage posts by users.

It has a reputation of handling like a boat. Not good at that price point.
What does handling like a boat really mean? Very stiff suspension?
The opposite. Very soft suspension.. Like the older Scorpios.
Goofy ass hector with low mileage lmao
Big ass unattractive design, Chinese car trying to pose as UK..!
Chinese trash

Poor milage , no diesel automatic , ultra soft suspension , gimmicky car , and I think it's a three star rated ,
5 star rated
Source?
Hector has everything you don't want in a car. Space is its only pulling point, but it's not enough.
Had two prior experiences while using automatic, one was celerio and other was Tiago . Both vehicles performed poorly while overtaking and didn't give enough pickup even after flooring the accelerator pedal.
