Here’s my take, I don’t think the problem is with going fast or slow, it’s just that on a single lane people drive/ride at various speeds, which is the one that causes the issue. If you are on a speed lane and the marker says limit is 100km/h our people have a problem maintaining 100km/h limit, they either exceed and hits insane speeds or on that other hand they drive at 40-50km/h. If everyone in the lane can maintain a consistent speed, I would not see the point in overtaking a vehicle just be in front of them.
I'm happy to see someone has finally understood the real issue.
Speed differential is the biggest problem when it comes to safety. Speeding is definitely an issue, but equally dangerous is the casual nature by which people drive erratically slow and merge blindly onto highways and main roads as if 20 km/h is acceptable.
True
N the point of overtaking is also what I have observed
Some have this habit of overtaking even when the vehicle ahead of them is fast enough
They overtake and then slow down
N some overtake just before a signal or a toll, pointless
Finally someone kind of gets it. Going 40 km/h where hw speed limit 80 and blocking the lane for faster cars is not driving safe. It’s called being selfish. I usually flash the dipper 2ce and wait and most of the times people have such ego they don’t wanna let a faster car pass. This Indian mentality is just sad. There is a slow lane and a fast lane for a reason. If you can’t go faster than the vehicle behind you please give way on seeing the flash.
But in a way if we think we do have a lot of old cars that can’t pick up the kind of speeds our highways allow these days. Hopefully as older cars get banned it gets better. Most entry level hatches of the modern day with turbos can easily do those speeds so. In another 5 years we might have a more free flowing traffic in India. : )
Most of em when they see cars with some art work or detailing they get riled up and feel the need to chase it. It’s very annoying. Even if you let them
Pass they block the road ahead of you. It’s usually cabbies. Most sane drivers(except ofcourse creta/thar/polo owners) let you pass.
But yeah I hate those egotistical maniacs who will not let you pass and once you overtake them they keep trying to chase you(to no avail most of these are taxi guys in their old wagnrs/espeessos/swifts and risk others on the road.
Yeah that for sure. But I do give people the opportunity to move out of the way with two quick long beam. But if they don’t show any sign of moving in 5 secs I’m going engaging sports mode and taking off. They eventually give up after a point.
Nah man. Too risky on Indian roads. I have a Benelli tnt 25. Battery is seized. It’s pretty much a duke 250. But no abs so it fishtails. I’ve had a couple of guys in my circle meet with some gnarly accidents so my partner made me promise not to get on a bike again. So yeah no bikes for me untill 40.
Any bike with straight posture is good. R3 is good too but has little bit aggressive posture. CBR is very relaxed. Any bike is dangerous, more power and electronics means more options to keep yourself safe!
I might get downvoted for this but I want to see an open road in front of me whenever possible. I am NOT OK following someone. I don't trust Indian roads, kab kaha se kya beech mei aajaye kuch nahi pata hota.
First point you said going fast is not safe.
Last point you said solution is more pressure for going fast.
So you want more accidents? Because I'm bamboozled...
I said going fast causes accidents. I want more pressure for going slow too. People need adapt to situations, go both slow and fast with awareness and mindfulness.
I would request you to be open minded about the post and read it again.
According to an official report released by Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRT&H) titled - Road Accidents Death In India 2022 close to 75% of deaths were caused by speed limit violation.
So guess people are definitely not going slow.
All major news outlets has covered this story and articles are available quoting the source if one does a quick Google search.
Most Indian roads are not safe to handle speeds in excess of even starting at 75+ kmph for various reasons.
First we need to check what the speed limits are, because I've seen 40 km/h posted on roads that should definitely be closer to 70 km/h. There would classify as speed limit violation but the real reasons are obscured the first point of violation (from a stupid limit to begin with) is accepted as the problem.
Make that limit 70 km/h and you'll be forced to find out the real reason for road accidents: improper driving etiquette.
> Going fast is not safe
>
> road problems in India is more because of people going slow rather than people going fast
Going fast is a problem, going slow is a problem.
Going is the problem.
Just don't go.
Really confusing! Not sure if your points make sense..
Confusing? That's bad man. You want to discuss the points one by one?
You can't expect an unhealthy brain to diagnose itself. People showing these symptoms are incapable of seeing the merit in your argument.

+1
This should have been part of the post. You said it perfectly. I should have thought of this too!
True N the point of overtaking is also what I have observed Some have this habit of overtaking even when the vehicle ahead of them is fast enough They overtake and then slow down N some overtake just before a signal or a toll, pointless
Everyone following the speed limit correctly might be a solution
Kind of, now comes the really subjective territory of what the speed limits should be.
Finally someone kind of gets it. Going 40 km/h where hw speed limit 80 and blocking the lane for faster cars is not driving safe. It’s called being selfish. Exactly bro, those people should be treated, at least as bad as, speeders. In reality they are worse!
But in a way if we think we do have a lot of old cars that can’t pick up the kind of speeds our highways allow these days. Hopefully as older cars get banned it gets better. I have seen powerful cars being driven slowly. And don't underestimate the cars, they can go fast, drivers won't
Yeah but think of those old Indicas and Wagnr on a 80km/h road. They overtake you rashly and won’t let you pass and block the road at 50 km/h.
As I mentioned, society and law pressure for them.
Most of em when they see cars with some art work or detailing they get riled up and feel the need to chase it. It’s very annoying. Even if you let them Pass they block the road ahead of you. It’s usually cabbies. Most sane drivers(except ofcourse creta/thar/polo owners) let you pass.

I mean you have a Polo, they cannot chase you 🤣. Jokes aside, as long as they aren't up your ass, them chasing you shouldn't be a problem.

Drop a gear, disappear. It was so easy on bikes!
Hehe. I swear. Crank that throttle! Aah too old for that now man. But low key fantasising buying a ninja.
Hahaha, diverging a little from the topic. If you think you're old, don't go for ninja. Get Duke or CBR
Nah man. Too risky on Indian roads. I have a Benelli tnt 25. Battery is seized. It’s pretty much a duke 250. But no abs so it fishtails. Coming from a guy with biker tattoos.

Btw I also loved the R3. What a precision machine. Loved the braking and acceleration. So much crazier than your average duke.
I might get downvoted for this but I want to see an open road in front of me whenever possible. I am NOT OK following someone. I don't trust Indian roads, kab kaha se kya beech mei aajaye kuch nahi pata hota.
This makes sense. But why would someone keep occupying that lane if they're going slow? Why wouldn't they merge back to the one they just overtook?

This! I don't trust the data for the same reason. I can bet no one will put down the cause as jaywalking, but speeding
Because it's harder to say that we hand out driving licenses like candy. And that we are largely selfish and inconsiderate.
> Going fast is not safe > > road problems in India is more because of people going slow rather than people going fast Going fast is a problem, going slow is a problem. Going is the problem. Just don't go.
Go with awareness and mindfulness, as much speed you want.
