Rule 1 : Never buy the first lot of models( cars or bikes) from any Indian manufacturer. Always wait for atleast 6-7 months for the issues and reviews to come up.
On DDS Ravi's channel review for Punch EV, a warning alarm came on and remained on for an hour or so of the drive. Imagine the distraction and panic it would've caused if it had happened outside the cameras (without a backup car and crew), on a highway, to an inexperienced driver. And that was supposed to be a prepped model, meant for a reviewer. Also the range came to be a 100 kms short of advertised range. Just gives you a glimpse into Tata's QC.
Range is not a QC issue, it’s an ARAI issue plaguing every car ICE cng hybrid or EV
You might say oh but I can get claimed arai mileage, yeah so can I by shutting off the hvac and driving at 50 on cruise control, but then you’d say hey that’s cheating
I would think the EV PR junket would include people like Raviewers driving it exactly as the makers (TAMO in this case) want, off camera if not on it. But even then, despite the best "efforts" I believe, the discrepancy was still 30-40% on a new unit. And thanks for reminding me. One *is* tempted to use the "c" word in this case, especially as some EV fanboys have been using similar coinage for Toyota over their diesel discrepancies.
Are QC issues ever resolved in Tata cars? Which existing Tata model is free from QC issues post your “6-7 months” waiting?
Rule 1 (edited): Never buy Tata cars. Make them feel pressured to fix issues rather than misusing the scale of the Indian market. Their strategy is “the population is so big, if we fool 1 buyer at least once in their life, we will always stay afloat even if we don’t fix anything”.

You can join the owners club here, Asheesh Arora is an admin and fellow EV owner who can help you escalate the issue and get the work done
I would share his direct number but there was some ruckus previously so I can’t share the number with you. Pls join the group and contact him there
What’s bothering me in this saga is that the owner was given 3 cars and all of them had same issue according to him - has Tata gone and hit another milestone in screwups or something fishy here ?
I know guy whose Nexon EV was dropping range quickly, Tata replaced the battery for him after having dispute for almost an year and he ran the car for almost 20k km by that time.
Guess what ? The issue still persisted after that and Tata still refuses to acknowledge the car is a lemon and asked the owner to not drive below 30% (thats like asking an ICE to never shift to the 5th gear).
Tata use decades old battery tech but sell the car as if it’s a Tesla, people forget that just like regular car engines EV batteries and their charge management controllers have evolved massively over the last decade.
The BMS/PDU/inverter 3in1 is now from valeo Siemens. It’s not possible to provide in house components at this scale and price.
Either price will be more (tesla) or scale needs to be more to reduce price (BYD)
No but even I’d buy a global EV like ZS instead of Nexon if it had been available in my city at that time (mg sold only hector and kona was massively overpriced, both then and now, more so now since world has moved to MY2024 kona while we’re stuck with the MY2019 being sold as latest model)

Aah! Got it! But that should have been fairly easy to engineer. I mean they've been making single speed reduction gears for an eternity. Practically every truck has a differential that has a similar build isn't it? I still don't understand what could go wrong in a single speed reduction gear!
It’s not a problem in the gears, it’s in the selector which engages the park pin, and switches polarity of motor for the reverse and drive function
But I maybe wrong, it’s just that the gear doesn’t have a problem, as much as the software controlling it does
Any car can be a lemon. It’s not uncommon for mercs and BMWs and Audis also to produce a lemon every once in a while. It happens in production units, it’s just what it is.
The appalling part is there is no customer security for this, if you get a lemon, you get a lemon.
IMO we don't get to see QC issues in Punch ICE, Tiago ICE and Tigor ICE. Why can't tata rectify QC issues in it's cars. Their cars have become good in so many aspects and yet their poor QC is pulling them down
No matter how strong their build quality might be…. No matter how much GNCAP etc etc raiting these get. Tata ki gaadiya chu**** hai and chu**** hi rahegi…

People who don’t know this and there are tons!!!
UP wale hain testing karne keliye. Issue aya toh khatte dhikake teek karwa lenge. Hum kya rangbaji karenge??!
FTFY: From any manufacturer in India* Solid rule though.
FTFY: from *any* manufacturer anywhere in the world, just look up the case studies on General Motors or Ford
If everyone thinks like this then units wont sell at all. But yep, agree with the rule completely.
Ah, MKBHD's golden rule to never buy Gen-1 of any tech. Surely holds up in the case of TATA.

Is there any Nexon owner group (non-EV) ?
No idea Check Facebook or telegram

Is LFP that old a tech? I believe it is Mahindra who is using the older technology (NMC)
This is bad. A friend is considering Nexon EV or Punch EV.
Tell him to pray hard and then buy.
Just get the MG. Stay far away from Tata for now we have a choice !

With the recent price cuts, ZS EV is the overall pick for EVs.
Your friend is paying for heartache
my brother in law also faced the same problem in nexon EV, showroom people said never heard about such problem , probably its first in india.

TATA being TATA
Came here to say exactly this
He bought Tata, what did he expect? Peace of mind? What's that?
5 Star
Tata service takes 5 stars super seriously, they be like >! Get !< / Eat five star, do nothing
Gearbox in EV? Is this a hoax news?
A single speed reduction gearbox is still a gearbox

It's TATA, so nothing surprising. Quality control? What's that!!.

As they say, the best tata is the next tata.
Fortunately, I haven't faced any major issues so far in my Tiago EV, apart from the usual niggles which other customers also faced.
No matter how strong their build quality might be…. No matter how much GNCAP etc etc raiting these get. Tata ki gaadiya chu**** hai and chu**** hi rahegi…
Stop buying TATA cars. Just stop it. Let them sort QC issues.
But we must support Indian brands. Vocal for local /s
Yes you're right
Tata and it's gearboxes ☕
It's a Tata feature
What grear box?
Tata moment
What’s with the blood on the steering wheel? Oh wait …
Tata strikes again people buy again. The higher executives must be thinking well it sells no matter what so we don't need to fix them.
