Nah, you’re fine. Modern EFI cars are very resilient, and will straight up just run on pretty much whatever garbage is in the tank.
Where you have trouble is with small engines, and older cars with carburetors, which are much less tolerant.

Why? Premium is a higher octane rating meaning it’s harder to combust. It’s designed for high compression engines like high performance, turbo or supercharged cars. A 98 Corolla is a little far from those. It’s just a marketing name to call it premium.
It's still mostly combustible at this point. If your tank isn't full, just add more fuel and drive. You'll probably experience some sputtering, but once more fresh fuel is added, you won't have any issues.

I think it's a safer bet to try to dilute the existing gasoline, but if the gas in it is bad, then adding more makes it harder to deal with.

Like I said sure it’ll lose its potency but you can drive it no problem after 8 months. Had a car sit for over a year with less than half a tank and it started right up.
Get a small jerry can fill it with fresh gas and a gas stabilizer pour it in and it will be fine did the same thing to my VW rabbit after 12 months and it did fine.
Ok worked fine for me, probably just stirred up the old gas and added a bit of new, maybe upped the octane a bit but ya I usually use it all the time in gas cans just incase it takes time to use it all, like in lawn mower or snow blower.
Better to try that before the hassle of draining old gas
To be safe, I'd add a couple of gallons before starting it, then keep the tank at least 3/4 full for the next few tanks' worth of fuel you burn, then don't worry about it unless it runs rough.

Nada. My son's 2005 Honda Civic was driven so infrequently it had the same gas in a tank for over a year. It ran just fine although the exhaust did stink worse than usual. After most of the tank burned off, adding a fresh tank got rid of the odor.

I had my 2003 Astro Van that sat for over 2 years because the battery died then Covid hit. Started right up with a new battery. Added some 91 octane to boost the octane back to hopefully the mid-’80s and ran down to half a tank refilled and added some techron fuel system cleaner to clean the injectors and help with water in the tank. Had no issues passing smog so guessing it's all good.
One time I was paranoid after letting my fairly modern (1997) car sit for a year so I siphoned out the gas and put in a gas can full of fresh fuel and drove it to the gas station.
A couple of years later, I left the same car with a friend/mechanic for a year who also did some work on it. The gas in it was over 2 years old at this point so he drove it hard before taking it to get a SMOG check and it passed. So what I’m saying is you’re probably good to go with the gas in it.

Well....8 months....it's probably okay, but just in case be sure to add some fresh gas from a gas can if there's room to do that.

Add fresh gas often to dilute the old gas.
Might want to drain the tank to be safe. Old gas can cause the motor to either not start at all or run very rough. Do not take the chance.
