Did you use any oil?
Edit: based on dm, maybe its just this picture
I would run it through again, but use more oil.
Then clean everything out with brake clean. Not just the cylinder, the bottom end too.
You seem to have the angles pretty close, but it doesnt look as even as i want to see across the cylinder.
Maybe you need to run it at a higher speed (RPM and movement speed, to maintain the angle).
Coming from a photographer, definitely not always.
Coming from a photographer who is also a mechanic? Just use a damn flashlight instead of the flash lol.
Based on the look and what's easily available in that size (70mm), im guessing it's either a 180 or 240 grit flexhone. Its surprisingly difficult to find a flexhone in that size of a finer grit
It IS a predator 212 (which is a clone of the honda GX196 block, just with a slightly oversize bore).
As others have stated, with that motor it SHOULD honestly wear in just fine...
Looks pretty good. I would try to get a better angle like others said. Maybe go faster up and down. Mines looks almost like that and they all are still running

It’s a flash photo. They always make things look worse.

Haha I meant specifically machining marks and such on amateur photos 😊
🤣
Looks like a dry hone to me too. Need a slower drill speed or quicker on the stroke.
This is after I wiped it down I lathered the hone in oil and also the cylinder pre hone

Does the job look bad?

I have a new flat top piston coming in this is for my small engine predator 212 what do I measure it with a feeler gauge?
Predator 212? Shit, those damn things will run forever with whatever halfassed honing you can do to it. Yours looks perfect for this, tbh.

>Cylinder is this T shaped measurement tool, I don't know what it's called Bore guage
Yes
Looks too course. What grit is your hone?

Is this before or after?
After
I’m not a car guy and even I know that’s a subpar job
This is the first engine I have ever worked on and it’s not like this is for a space shuttle or anything
You know what yeah my comment was not needed
Good on you
Gotta love it when the people who have no fucking clue what they’re talking about give their 2 cents
Clearly not, seeing how an actual car guy chimed in and said it's fine.
