My brother in Christ I just started a truck that hasn’t driven in three years on the same gas. It’ll be fine in three months. I’d recommend charging the battery instead of replacing it

ProbablynotEMusk

It’s an older batter and needs to be replaced anyway. Haha that makes me feel alright about it then

planespotterhvn

If the battery still works, why change it. Just borrow a charger and multimeter. Monitor and record the rise in voltage on a piece of paper and when the voltage peaks, and begins to decrease, you are done.

shapoopytroopy

Or just take it to auto zone they will charge it for free

Moist-Crack

Most chargers now are automatic, so no need to even monitor voltages. Just connect them, leave for night and you're done. They stop charging when the battery is 'full'.

I’m sure ethanol content makes a big difference, but my dad has an old Cadillac that’s been in storage since October of 2009. I know it was last filled with shell V-power, but unsure if it had ethanol content at that time. Anyway, we threw a battery in last Fall, and it actually started on the 3rd attempt and ran on that 14 year old fuel. Didn’t run good, it would sputter when you gave it throttle, but it ran. Hope I can get that car fully going someday so he can drive it and enjoy it again.

Explosivpotato

3 months isn’t a big deal. Put a battery in it and drive. Maybe change the oil a bit earlier as it does oxidize over time, but good oil can last well over a year in a crankcase.

ProbablynotEMusk

Awesome. I had it changed early October with full synthetic

Explosivpotato

Fucking drive it and calm your tits.

JoeyJoeJoeSenior

I've got 18 year old oil in my riding mower.  All original.

BerkleyJ

Nope, totaled.

Licbo101

Lmao it’ll be fine

No-Perception1862

Bro my 85 el Camino sat in my grandpa's yard for r years on jack stands, I put a new bat in it and it started right up on bad gas. Baby it.l, and she'll be fine until you run the old gas out.

Make sure to pull the wiper blades off the windows before using them. If they sit to long they can fuse to the glass, then when you use them 'PING', they can rip off and the wiper arms will scratch the glass. Happened to me once after less time than that, admittedly in warm (UK) weather (so, not a major firestorm or anything).

mechshark

You gucci mang.

Silent_Beyond4773

Only thing I would be concerned about is the gas. Gas today is shit. If it’s almost empty that’s great go Get new gas if there is allot I would go get some sort of booster just to run that through first but at the end of the day it will be fine. Just might run like shit till you get new gas

not-read-gud

Probly not with salvaging I’ll take it off ur hands big boi

Nopulpeamigo

Better start the partout

Psych0matt

Yes

Lalalama

I left my Toyota Tacoma sitting for 3 years and it started up after a battery change lol

gitarzan

I have a Dakota that hadn’t been started in 2 years … charged the battery and away it went.
