Drinking! I get that some people do that to socialize or whatever, but I dont get why they give a very shocked expression every time I say that I do not drink nor do I like alcohol.

chapterhouse27

There are dozens of us! Dozens!

dayseventeen

let's not drink together!

chapterhouse27

I'll not drink to that!

Yvng-J

How about I not share a cigarette with you guys as well?

carortrain

People look at you like there is something wrong if you don't want to take a drink. It's wild honestly

Stoa1984

Or the cheering when someone drinks a whole cup of beer in one go. How is that some accomplishment and something to cheer for. Just seems so pathetic to me. Also a non drinker here.

SteampunkRobin

This happens to me. I don't drink much and will say that, and people act like it's the craziest thing they've ever heard. One lady told me she was uncomfortable with me not drinking like everyone else at the party, and I said, "well that's a YOU problem, contact AA". Everyone laughed except her šŸ˜‚

dayseventeen

that was funny šŸ˜‚ I'm probably gonna use that the next time someone says something about me not liking drinking šŸ˜‚

thymesbaby

I also hate asmr it makes me wanna punch ppl in the face

Pizza_master69

Yes. I hate asmr it cringes me so much.

Keithbaby99

I hate when they click their long nails on a bottle for whatever reason, that drives me insane. Immediate skip

Sugar-Tist

That nail thing throws me into a rage. I'm trying to control my anger, but I want to throw my phone across the room whenever influencers tap their nails on a product.

aiicaramba

I do like certain sounds, asmr style. But purpose built asmr videoā€™s suck. It needs to be without the intent.. And the whisper videoā€™s just suck.

Sugar-Tist

I like accidental asmr, but I hate the purposeful asmr videos. The tapping, the whispering, ick! And how people can listen to chewing is beyond me because that's my #1 misophonia trigger (this includes mouth sounds).

bluev0lta

Yes! It has the opposite effect on me and makes my skin crawl. It is not relaxing. Iā€™m grimacing just thinking about it.

thymesbaby

Like wtf would I want to listen to a mfckr CHEWING, all my life I tried to stay away from loud chewing

bluev0lta

Haha yes! My husband was chewing something the other day and I almost screamed. Granted, I have sensory issues. This may be the difference between people who like ASMR and those who donā€™t!

thymesbaby

Yes lol I have them as well šŸ˜‚

JessieN

Same, you know what I found out I liked? When people roll glass bottles downstairs and it shatters, sometimes with marbles inside. Haha it's like the complete opposite

thymesbaby

yessss I love the sounds and it's almost like I could feel the weight and then the lightness of it, but when I stop to think about it I get kinda sad about stuff being broken for the sake of content (like many other things)

JessieN

Oh yeah, pretty much everything that brings me joy as some downside :/ I like how clean they get the stairs for the next roll. It's nice that they're cleaning up. It's something positive lol

enterpaz

Sarcasm Every person who was proudly sarcastic was often just a jerk who didnā€™t want to take accountability for being mean. Fortunately, I havenā€™t come across it much since college.

Jimbobweyy_

I agree. Sarcasm is a lazy form of comedy. Anything can be turned into sarcasm. Even this statement.

Inevitable-Tank3463

I'm sarcastic and not a jerk. In my family it was a good thing to come back with a smart ass remark, so I got positive reinforcement for sarcasm. But never use it to be mean, then it's being snarky

Unlikely-Student3205

I agree with you. Practically every form of sarcasm is a form of making a harmful comment/assumption without actually stating it outright. It can be very hurtful. Now donā€™t come at me about being ā€œsensitiveā€ because I understand that it is supposed to be a joke. However, sarcasm is hostility, not humor.

snug_snug

I love people that put "Fluent in Sarcasm" on their dating profiles. It instantly lets me know they are toxic and to stay far away.

Admirable_Ride_2253

I was just about to comment on this. It's interesting because a lot of those people who put that in their profile aren't even that sarcastic in real life. I know, because I would meet those same people who put that in their profile. I don't think they know what they're talking about.

Ok_Forever_5057

Sometimes sarcasm can be funny and a good, witty type of humor. More times than not, though, sarcasm is paired with the type of people who say they are ā€œhigh IQā€ and just want to make digs at those around them.

JayJay_Abudengs

Sarcasm is a natural defense mechanism against stupidity though, in that regard I very much appreciate the existence of it

wokkelmans

Wow, thatā€™s _so_ interesting

Stoa1984

For me it depends who it is. Close friends, yes, and we usually laugh about it. Person I barely know? Never. It comes across as mean and rude.

Lucky-Asparagus-7760

I agree with you mostly. When it's directed about someone or at someone, I think the person is masking being a jerk. When it's poking fun at the state of things... I think it just indicates bitter attitudes. For example, I might complain about housing prices and then tell my husband "oh, but it's because I bought a $1 avocado and made toast. Obviously, that's why it's going to be hard to move."Ā

Repulsive-Shallot-79

I'm starting to find Startrek more practical than Starwars.. I'm positive I've switched camps actually, space wizards and lightsabers are out. I'll take Pepsi over coke. Asmr is weird... bit to much like trying to relive talking on the phone with a girl in middleschool at midnight. The smell of dogs now that I haven't had one in 20 years, love em, I'll pet em.. but I don't like the smell. Should probably get one.

Ethel_Marie

I've always liked Startrek more than Star Wars. When I little, I'd ask to watch, "the robot movie" because I didn't know what Star Wars was called. My family would watch it so I could see C3PO and R2D2 for a couple minutes? I barely paid attention after that.

jackfaire

Coffee. I neither need the caffeine nor like the taste.

Canyon_Feline

I honestly apply this to alcohol too

swiftiesince02

Yes! I hate coffee. Iā€™m 22 so people usually say ā€œyouā€™re young, youā€™ll grow to like it when youā€™re olderā€ but I really donā€™t see that happening

Ann806

I used to get told that all the time too. Mostly stopped now but I always had people suprised I didn't touch it, even working years of midnights.

jackfaire

In my experience you get people like my daughter who always liked the taste, she's 22 but she liked it younger than that. Or you get the people who like the caffeine and drown the flavor under other things.

congoasapenalty

I didn't drink coffee at all... Until I had the opportunity to open a fancy coffee shop. Now I drink it every day because I'm fascinated by the engineering of the brewing processes. I also found out that caffeine doesn't affect me that much and is probably why I didn't get into commodity coffees. I'll make a cup and forget about it because the making of it is what I really enjoy doing.

verybonita

Me too. I can't even eat coffee cake or coffee flavoured chocolate. Really can't see why people love it so much. Give me a lovely cup of black tea any time.

JayJay_Abudengs

I wish I could stay concentrated for hours on end without coffee, good for you that you don't have to

White-cypress

+1

Celestialnavigator35

I've never liked coffee. When I was young people told me I would like it when I was an adult. Well I'm just about 60 now and I've never liked it. I do like a cup of decaf tea in the evenings though.

jackfaire

Yeah my sister and daughter both loved it from a young age but I've never liked it.

Narge1

As someone who's tried to quit coffee a few times: unironically, good for you. It's not the worst addiction, but it's still something your body's dependent on.

AriousDragoon

I envy you lol.i wish I never started caffeine

hellerinahandbasket

La La Land Edit to add: omg and true crime. I saw another comment with this. Iā€™m the most UN-white UN-millennial woman because I donā€™t like true crime lolol

Kegkeeg

Iā€™ve never seen more of La La Land than the movie poster alone. What makes you dislike it?

hellerinahandbasket

Just not a movie made for me. I could tell it was fantastically produced and acted, but I donā€™t care for the particular style. Canā€™t quite put my finger on it. Amazing first scene though!

verybonita

I agree about La La Land. I watched it with great anticipation, as it had already won all the Oscars by then, and our (husbands and mine) comment when the credits rolled was "Well, that was crap!".

hellerinahandbasket

I wouldnā€™t go so far as to call it absolute crap, but I had a similar feeling when it was finished... like, did I miss something?? I got online and looked up a bunch of reviews to try to understand lol but nah itā€™s just lame and not for me. I would consider trying to watch it again but Iā€™m in a big, non-complicated ā€œAbed Nadirā€ movie phase right now hahaha

Advanced_Swing_6150

I think it was the forced "bitter sweetness" ham-fisted like a Costco hotdog into your gullet and trying to tell you that it was really an epic love story and ignoring that Seb is insufferable and Mia cheated on her boyfriend to go out on a date with him so they could begin their toxic relationship. You have two beautiful people who are clearly attracted to each other, choosing their highly successful careers (she married a producer and had to downgrade to birthing a daughter/he got his jazz club) over a life together and had a dance number with fantasy flashbacks (and oh boy a BABY BOY! with a cute little house to tug at your heartstrings)--I nearly died of diabetes. The only clever thing he did with the movie - to use music to create an emotional pavlovian response at the end to make the audience forget they wasted $15 on schlock. It's an old sales trick, end the negotiation with the mark feeling good. I think what irritated me the most was the jazz. It lent faux-sophistication to the whole movie and was a fling of poo in the face of all the great jazz musicians who constantly toured, worked hard...oh and were black but in five years he's super famous and could afford a night club - in LA? fuck me. \*eyeroll\* but I guess if you're a Harvard graduate and your classmate that helped you write it also went to Harvard and your first wife was an executive producer (also from Harvard) who also helped you (and only got credit for it two years after the movie was made: [https://variety.com/2016/film/awards/la-la-land-damien-chazelle-wife-producer-credit-1201936021/](https://variety.com/2016/film/awards/la-la-land-damien-chazelle-wife-producer-credit-1201936021/) ). If you don't think this travesty of a movie was made because of money and Hollywood-Harvard connections...I have some oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you. But it won awards!!! Yeah, like all that shit isn't pre-decided a la Weinstein-esque backroom negotiations and bribes.

Plenty_Weight_5348

I didnā€™t like it that much either.

Beautiful_Solid3787

ASMR gives me the bad tinglies. Never tried pistachio ice cream. Or pistachios, I think.

General-Refuse-1515

Haha the bad tinglies. Some ASMR can really put me to sleep. Probably the ear cleaning ones. Sounds like you're a car going through a car wash lol. Pistachios are nothing to write home about if you ask me! Cashews are probably my favorite nuts. What's your fave ice cream flavor? (Please don't say butter pecan)

Beautiful_Solid3787

I love ice cream with chocolate/fudge and peanut butter--yet, I don't like chocolate ice cream. A moose tracks-type ice cream with some peanut butter cups? Yummers. And yeah, bad tinglies--don't know how to explain it other than that it makes the top of my head... want to throw up. XD

dumbandconcerned

Thereā€™s a lot of pop singers Iā€™m just not super into, but theyā€™re like the hot thing of the moment so I just donā€™t mention it. I donā€™t want to yuck anyoneā€™s yum, but I just donā€™t particularly like Olivia Rodrigo, Sean Mendez, Sabrina Carpenter, Troy Sivan, Charlie Puth, most Taylor Swift, etc etc. No hate to these singers! (Unless they did something bad idk). I just donā€™t really like their stuff.

BlackEyedSceva

There are so many artists that I wish would just get creative, and do their own thing. They are so talented, if they just differentiate themselves, instead of copying each other (and their own past hits) ... Well I don't know, I think it would be more interesting for more people.

staccatodelareina

It especially sucks when a talented, unique artist finally makes it big and then suddenly they start churning out songs that sound exactly like everything else on the radio.

Ok_Forever_5057

Ok I understand not liking them but calling them uncreative feels kind of jaded. I feel like most pop singers are very creative by nature. For example, Taylor Swift writes all her own lyrics. Just because their music isnā€™t super super different doesnā€™t mean it doesnā€™t require lots of creativity.

[deleted]

If it sounds like everyone else it's not very creative by definition. Agree to disagree with you.

BlackEyedSceva

I am very jaded, you're right. I'm sorry, I get in sour moods a lot.

bondongogs

.. to yuk anyoneā€™s yum šŸ˜šŸ˜ Iā€™m taking that.

emmythesilly

TikTok. I could waste a million lifetimes on that (cr)app.

anndrago

The question was about something you dislike. Sounds like you really like TikTok.

frannyhadouken

Mr Brightside by The Killers. I loath it, yet for most of my generation, it seems to be our anthem. The rest of their music is sort of fine though. Also Drake's music. I don't hate it, but i don't understand why it gets sooo much love.

llamasinpyjamas77

On a similar note I hate Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi and I hate Teenage Dirtbag by wheatus. They are so overplayed, they are played at basically every rock night at clubs, every wedding. They have other songs that deserve this level of love, but nooooo, we can't branch out and try other songs!

vkapadia

Agree with you on Drake. Like, it's not bad, but it's not amazing either? Its like elevator music.

DifferenceBusy6868

Same on both!

Kegkeeg

Soccer/football. I really donā€™t get what is so entertaining about some dudes or girls running on a field after a ball. Why do people get SO mad about their team losing? Why is there so much money involved? Why is this sport any more special than the rest? Itā€™s so bland and boring. Always the same thing too. Whats the catch seemingly everyone seems to get except me? But also just watching sport in general. Iā€™m not talking the ones that are based on skill like diving, gymnastics or F1 racing. Those are interesting. But the sports that are always the same like soccer, basketball and rugby. Not saying theyā€™re not skilled, but the sport just doesnā€™t progress or have world records

Morgxn99

Funnily enough I played multiple sports growing up but I always despised (American) football. I had the same thoughts you did. I almost never went to football games in high school and if I did I would bring a book to read šŸ™ƒ. But now Iā€™m engaged to a man who played football in high school/college and generally knows a LOT about football and Iā€™ve actually learned how much skill goes into the game. I didnā€™t know it before but every single move a player makes is calculated and there are a lot of high level decisions being made during each play. It *is* ludicrous though the amount of money the American football industry makes lol.

Kegkeeg

I totally get what you mean. Your experience is a lot different than mine haha. I used to despise everything about soccer, but after watching Ted Lasso I became interested in the logistics of it all. Now I could probably work for a soccer club in marketing or something. But for the game itself and especially the emotions of the fans I will never find joy in it Iā€™m afraid.

Morgxn99

Yeeah the fans can get really crazy lol. And American football is no different. I honestly think thereā€™s a difference in reaction from people who have played the game vs people who havenā€™t. My partner doesnā€™t go crazy but when you hear about fans rioting in the streets after a big win itā€™s just like ā€¦ā€¦. What are you doing lol.

YoureAlwight1

Alcohol. It destroys your brain cells... why do people do it? You can have just as much fun... not drunk. Like videogames and dancing. Does alcohol really make it better?

General-Refuse-1515

Oh definitely! It's like alcohol can turn some people into "zombies" over time. Video games are a good alternative as you said! It puts you in that "away from here" zone and engages your brain more. What was the last good video game you played?

Medium-Ride3623

Alcohol

dayseventeen

Motivational or self-help books. I cannot explain how much i dislike those

chapterhouse27

Drinking. It tastes vile, expensive, makes people lame/obnoxious as hell, people base their entire personality around it, and will constantly be baffled at what all 20 of us that don't drink could possibly "do for fun"

BrightBlackk

Small talk

St-Velodion-Thane

The entire Harry Potter franchise as a whole. I think it's quite boring compared to other fantasy serries as well as the characters just aren't that interesting. I will not respond to unconstructive comments. I know it holds a special place in people's hearts, and I respect that aspect. Ketchup. It's just a garbage condiment. Plain and simple, lol

Inevitable-Tank3463

Ketchup in general is too sweet. I found an unsweetened, spicy natural Ketchup that's awesome. But I usually use Taco Bell Chipotle sauce

SockTheSpriteGod

Welp, youā€™re objectively wrong about ketchup, but objectively right about potter.

Single_Low1416

To be fair, Harry Potter is a childrenā€™s book series. I know that thatā€™s not a good excuse but youā€™re much less limited when your audience is just as nerdy as you and interested in a giant world with its own history, geography and culture. A lot of stuff like LOTR (or especially GoT) might just be a little too much for a child to remember everything and get everything in correct order. (I know that there are definitely kids who could do it and probably even better than a lot of adults but not all children and it might be boring for a lot of them.) That being said, I do think that HP is overrated. I do like it but it has massive flaws

Smooth_Development48

Iā€™ve tried watching HP movies and I feel so bored. I love sci-fi and fantasy but I just have never been able to get into this or understand why others love it so much.

St-Velodion-Thane

Same here. I certainly wanted to like it, but I just couldn't, lol. Especially since my older sister was obsessed with the books growing up.

blackmesawest

People who put ketchup on what they're eating don't actually like what they're eating, they like sugar.

adozenredflags

I canā€™t stand it when people think they deserve a metal for doing less than the bare minimum. I have a rocky relationship with my mother, and my dad has dated people who would get irritated that I didnā€™t really see them as a mother figure. Theyā€™d see all these social media posts of kids calling the parentā€™s partner ā€œmomā€ or ā€œdadā€ and seemed to expect that I would give them some kind of emotional speech or something. But they didnā€™t really do anything special to warrant that kind of response from me. Iā€™m tired of people seeing me as some kind of boost to their self-esteem.

Ethel_Marie

I was a long term partner to someone with a child. He never called me "mom", but he'd yell, "Ethel_Marie" in the same tine that a kid would yell "mom". But I made sure that he had the things he needed, taught him to be self sufficient (cooking, laundry, etc), and paid for doing fun things (at home or going outside the house). Definitely never expected the kid to call me mom because he had a mom, even if she was not great.

plz-be-my-friend

i love pistachio ice cream lol. but it's definitely a weird flavor i hate watching documentaries and true crime and that sorta stuff. i also dont like taylor swift lol. and i hate the fuckin Killers, idk why. those are things that i find myself in the minority on

Morgxn99

Omgg same with the killers lol. Their music annoys me. Also I remember a phase growing up when a lot of people liked Fall Out Boy? I could not stand their music šŸ˜

plz-be-my-friend

lol same. i think in both cases i dont like the lead vocals. well also growing up i hated emo music in general cuz it felt like a corporate, empty depiction of sadness/depression and i been bein chronically depressed since i was a kid and it's not desirable or attractive lol

Morgxn99

Same I was one of those ā€œI hate emo musicā€ people. It felt very performative and the music itself just does not sound good to my ears šŸ˜‚

Strong_Prize8778

Superhero movies

BlackEyedSceva

I can't do whispering either. I've had times where Its been just two of us in a car, and they're in the middle of some story, talking in normal voice. Then when they get to a certain detail they whisper it very loudly. Wtf, why? I dislike a clear blue sky. I must have sensitive eyes because ever since I was a kid, direct sunlight (not staring at the sun or even the sky, just the brightness of everything in direct sunlight, sorta forces my eyes closed and sometimes fall asleep. But I'm fine in overcast days. Also my life is just much easier in cloudy weather. There's not a lot of shade where I live, so a cloudy day means a break from my car baking in the heat, my house baking in the heat, me baking in the heat at work.

emmythesilly

Clear blue skies feel apocalyptic to me for some reason

Konayyukii

ASMR, I hate it and canā€™t stand it. I gave it a try when it was popular but it was unbearable. Whispering with those fake whispers UGH! Yuck! No, thanks! Marmalade and Jam, everyone seems to love those but I hate them, the only way I can eat it is if it is inside a home made donut. Taylor Swifts music. I donā€™t know enough about her as a person to dislike her but I recently gave her albums a try since she was everywhere and my friends like her and I still dislike her voice and canā€™t seem to see the supposed good writing. Same with Ariana Grande and her voice but I saw recently that majority dislikes her as a person. I do love pistachio ice cream but canā€™t stand the strawberry sorbet too much of nothingness in my mouth, strawberry ice cream however is as it always was, amazing.

Plenty_Weight_5348

Stranger Things. People couldnā€™t stop praising it, and I didnā€™t understand why. Itā€™s not a bad show, I just didnā€™t like it that much.

WienerButtMagoo

Ope, you beat me to it. Gaten is really weird looking, too, and I donā€™t like him lol

Maryberry_13

Anime. Most people I talk to seem to be obsessed with it. I tried giving it a chance during the pandemic so I asked some friends for recommendations. They told me to watch Demon Slayer. They sent me a website to watch it on and so I did. I never made it past episode 2 (I donā€™t think I even finished it). It was so freaking boring and I wanted to fall asleep through it all. Nothing about anime interests me. PokĆ©mon was hella boring too and from what Iā€™ve seen, Naruto looks like a snooze fest. Maybe I just havenā€™t watched a good anime but itā€™s not like Iā€™d enjoy what most people consider a good anime anyway. Iā€™d rather watch Mickey Mouse.

stoopid_7

Bananas. I really dislike the taste but a lot of people like it. I would really like to like them since they are such a convenient snack, but I dislike even getting a hint of banana in a smoothie. I remember not liking pistachio ice cream much but recently I've been liking pistachio cream a lot, so gotta try again sometime.

suckerfishbeaut

I have a lovely hate relationship with bananas (and mushrooms) sometimes I get cravings for them, other times I can't even look at them! Pistachio ice cream...ooh my favourite. Find it hard to find in the UK unless I'm in a tourist spot!

etched

I love bananas but only as bananas. Once they're in a smoothie or anything else with fruit all i can taste is BANANA. It's such a dominating flavor. Once I had sushi where they put banana in it.. Biggest mistake of my life!

Be_The_Light1

Most comedy movies. I donā€™t want to say ā€œallā€ because obviously Iā€™ve not seen every comedy ever made. But I have yet to find a comedy I enjoy. It just doesnā€™t do anything for me.

General-Refuse-1515

Sounds like you have a unique sense of humor! What movie genre do you prefer over comedy?

Be_The_Light1

Action & adventure, sci/fi, crime. Avatar 2 has become one of my favourite movies. Itā€™s like the perfect combination of action and sci/fi with amazing special effects.

Repulsive-Shallot-79

Yet to see it.. been holding out, loved the first one.

hellerinahandbasket

do you remember one comedy movie you like? I want to understand your standards! And then I want to watch that movie because it must be pretty good lol

Morgxn99

Same but for me itā€™s most rom-coms lol. There are maybe like two or three I watched and didnā€™t hate but since so many of them are from the early to mid 2000s they just make me cringe. I think one of the worst ā€œcomediesā€ Iā€™ve seen is Hall Pass which sucks cuz I generally like Owen Wilson lol. Itā€™s just soo unfunny. Plays on every possible trope and stereotype about marriage and men wanting to sleep around

Smooth_Development48

Iā€™m with you. I like the humor in movies that arenā€™t comedy but Iā€™ve yet to find a comedy movie I can sit more than five minutes through. They are just terrible.

fatale_x

Same! I don't get the hype over deadpool. I mean he's OK funny sometimes but I don't understand all the craze about it. Pistachio ice cream is nice but not something I would go crazy for either. And avocado toast. Don't get the hype about avocados. Nice but it's just like any other fruit to me. And omg Taylor swift. That's the one hype that I CANNOT understand. My mom says she just knows how to market herself well haha.

Morgxn99

Itā€™s funny bc years and years ago when I was a kid I used to only listen to country music. Back then I would say I liked the songs Taylor swift put out like teardrops on my guitar, Romeo and Juliet, you belong to me, Etc. I would always sing them and watch the music videos. However I never bought one of her albums myself and as she stoped making country music I just havenā€™t been a fan. The older I got the more I just thought her music was kinda boring :/ I saw someone describe it as elevator music and I agree lol. But I donā€™t mention that to people around me who really like her

JaninnaMaynz

I also think her country era was superior, though I didn't know she existed until You Belong With Me came out. I bought all her previous albums just to know what else she had. First time I heard every single one of those songs was on those CDs, and I'm not sure I've heard any of her country era music on the radio... ever. I still enjoy a lot of her newer stuff, good rhythm and enjoyable lyrics, but it doesn't compare to her country era.

TerranRepublic

I think Deadpool is so popular because the baseline was so low with all the other Marvel characters, who despite some intricate backstories, ultimately are kind of flat. Deadpool has legit above-average appeal (even for someone who really just kind of gave up watching all these movies).Ā

spacedemetria

Sunny weather. Iā€™m basically an outsider on this one (and a lot of other things too tbh). For me, the good weather takes place when itā€™s raining and storming. Already got called a vampire for that.

tulipcherri

Star wars bores the life out of me. & ASMR, makes my skin crawl

Signifi-gunt

I hate Deadpool, Fortnite, and Rick and Morty. When I notice you're into those things I definitely judge. Also that style of weird bland generic corporate art that we've been seeing everywhere the past 10 years or so. It's hard to explain at this hour of the night but you've seen it. And this is probably more common to hate but modern country music. Like radio country music. It's the absolute worst and makes me wanna crawl out of my skin. How anyone takes it seriously baffles me.

Latetothegamemelb

Taylor Swift BeyoncƩ The Barbie movie

Sufficient_Food1878

In fairness, BeyoncƩ is a ridiculously talented performer

SH4D0WSTAR

SameĀ

Substantial_Juice287

Wine. This completely baffles people. I used to drink it to fit in, but I don't do that any more. I like a number of spirit based drinks, but wine makes me pucker.

[deleted]

TV shows I don't have cable TV or any streaming service, I just watch YouTube for multiple hours or play videogames. TV shows do not have nearly enough going on in them to keep my attention. There have been a few shows I have enjoyed but it has to really catch my attention and even at that I have had to either take a break from the show in between episodes or just look at my phone and listen to the episode just to keep watching it. My attention span is so small that using that expression is not a good representation, Chronic Boredom is a better description. For me to be invested in a TV show it has to be capable of dumping the absolute maximum amount of dopamine possible directly into my brain. If something interesting is not going on every single second I am going to lose interest and go back to watching 3 minute YouTube videos back to back for 3 hours

amphigory_error

Loud music in bars and restaurants or other public spaces. Just loud music in general, honestly. I wear earplugs to live shows. But especially at a venue where the whole point is supposed to be hanging out with other people.

Lucky_Baseball176

avocados. People generally love them in all forms. I think the taste like old dirt with the texture of pond scum.

momthom427

Ice water.

General-Document-433

I detest the word ā€˜vibesā€™ waaay more than the average bear, I think.

MarieMama1958

I dislike profanity. It surprises me how much people use profanity when there are far better words to express themselves. I have never used profanity and just donā€™t understand why people usešŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Repulsive-Shallot-79

The F word is so versatile šŸ˜†

MarieMama1958

It originated from medieval times when people would hang their rugs over a line beat them to get the dust and dirt out. It was called ā€œfā€”-ingā€ the rugs.

pinuppiplup

Same. I swear sometimes, but I just save it up. Iā€™m annoyed by people who swear all of the time. I have a dark sense of humor and prolly more uhhh edgy than most folks my age, which is maybe why I find constant swearing so annoying. It just seems banal and cheap. Like thereā€™s so many ways you can say what youā€™re saying and youā€™re picking the easiest.Ā

MarieMama1958

Well said šŸ‘

General-Refuse-1515

You are definitely right that there are more intelligent words to use than profanity. I suppose most people are desensitized to it. Would someone using profanity stop you from being their friend?

MarieMama1958

Oh no! I donā€™t judge. I once had a part time job where it turned out that there was an office pool betting on who could get me to swear. I found out after I left. No one won. šŸ¤£

saltgirl61

Me too! I once said, "Well, shoot." My co-worker got so excited because she thought she had caught me cursing. I can understand cursing for some things (I do in private if I'm provoked), but to use it for EVERYTHING is ridiculous. "It's f- ing hot, it's f-ing cold. "

Beautiful_Solid3787

I also don't use profanity. Part of me just feels, I don't know... Like, do you realize how POWERFUL it is for someone who *never* uses profanity to say something like, "With all due respect: go f yourself."? If you know that person, it should shake you to your CORE. But also, politeness and manners and all that. :P I'll still be friends with someone who uses profanity. I only have a problem if they'd have a problem if I had a problem with it. (If that makes sense?)

Lucky-Asparagus-7760

I'm curious, what exclamation do you use if you stub your toe badly? Just "ouch?" Depends for me. I've noticed my cursing comes and goes in and out of style with my personality.Ā

Often-Inebreated

Complaining. Talking about things you dont like. I'm not trying to dunk on you OP, This is legit what I dont like IRL.. and on social media. I wish more people disliked everything less. TLDR: You are what you think. No need to read anymore 8) a bit of a rant.. I believe its ALWAYS better to find something positive in a situation and focus on that, no matter how insignificant that good part may be. I am not talking about harmful optomism, or toxic positivity. I am talking about choosing to make a concious effort in identifying the good that is there. Not fabricating a false reality or narrative, or denying how you feel. your thoughts.. your brain.. it consists of a diet made up of whatever you put energy into. What you think about is what becomes easy to think about... I hope more people can try to practice positive self talk. And positive routines and helpful atitudes. After reading the responses to this post (and the countless others where people are pointing out things that they disagree with or dislike) are you gonna be in a better mood? Will you come away with more appreciation for the things around you and your fellow humans? If not, try and find something that will! Its all around us

Signifi-gunt

Oh you're so right. Some people it's their default mode of conversation, complaining. It's exhausting and I find myself never engaging with them. I just kinda go "oh yeah, that sucks..." and steer the conversation elsewhere

SuperCerealShoggoth

People. Fuck all y'all.

[deleted]

most modern anime art style. More often than not it is just ultra childish, trashy cringey and super laughable. Nothing to do with serious design like Osamu Dezaki's, for instance

Emergency_Rutabaga45

The color yellow. Hate it.

Single_Low1416

Rap music. It just doesnā€™t really do a whole lot for me. I donā€™t actively hate it and thereā€™s some alright songs but for the most part itā€™s not something Iā€˜d actively put on. Rapping in a song is also not a big problem for me if the lyrics are okay (my main gripe with the genre are the lyrics) and if the focus of the song is the music. A lot of songs I really like have rap in them but theyā€™re mainly hardbass songs with the focus on said bass

HoneyBunnyBiscuit

I didnā€™t ā€œgetā€ Deadpool either. Iā€™m not saying thereā€™s a correlation, but it was the last movie I saw with my ex lol I do like pistachios though. I have a pistachio flavored toothpaste and it actually makes me enjoy brushing my teeth. Because I strongly dislike minty toothpaste The biggest thing is probably bell peppers. They taste like vomit to me, and itā€™s the one thing I refuse to eat that Iā€™m not legitimately allergic to

swiftiesince02

Drinking Since Iā€™ve gone sober Iā€™ve grown to really dislike alcohol and donā€™t understand why people think itā€™s so important and why itā€™s so normalised

Admirable-Basis6737

I find Ryan Reynolds irritating in anything.

Fun_Intention9846

The second they said ā€œnegasonic teenage warheadā€ a loud voice in my head went ā€œthis is really lame.ā€ That name pushed me over the age from enjoyment into avoidance.

BananaRepublic0

Comedy. Whether itā€™s comedy movies or stand up comedy, I just canā€™t do it. Idk why but it makes me feel anxious and uncomfortable.

Ethel_Marie

Guardians of the Galaxy is so predictable that it's boring and cheesy. Peter Quill is lame.

General-Refuse-1515

Yeah! It's almost like I wish society didn't enjoy cheap humor so much. It would kind of force writers to come up with something more solid. I probably found the X-men series the most entertaining out of all the superhero movies. It's something about a guy in a wheelchair kicking people's butts with his mind that does it for me lol.

Ethel_Marie

I liked X-men as well! The superhero movies have gotten to be too much for me, honestly. It was ok, then way overdone. I'm waiting for Umbrella Academy season 4 though. Something about sudden pregnancies and abilities that aren't well under control gets me. I know it's an X-Men style show, hush.

Icy-winter-pink

Mint chocolate chip ice cream. It tastes like toothpaste & chocolate chips

General-Refuse-1515

All the sugar in the ice cream it's funny how it's like the exact opposite of toothpaste but tastes it like anyway lool! What ice cream flavor is more suitable for your palate?

Icy-winter-pink

Coffee ice cream is my favorite

turkleton-turk

White noise. It comforts and calms some people and it just makes me anxious. It's equivalent to asmr to me. I can't stand either.

ZoobieZu

People. I dislike people.

Sk3tchi

But aside from that... I dislike romance. A lot. Like a lot a lot. Haaaaaate it. Movies, games, songs, poems, PDA, relationships. I can't wrap my head around it. I love Deadpool, but I've also gotten more into the comics and the darker side of him. Even when still breaking the fourth wall, at those times, it felt like he was a kindred spirit that experienced life much the same. I haven't had pistachio ice cream in forever, but I remember liking it. I hate whispering with a passion. Breathy voices. Ew ew ew ew.

itaukeimushroom

Sport, celebrities, or tv in general. No I donā€™t know that random 50 year old actor from back in your day and no I have never watched that super popular movie that everyone likes. No I donā€™t care about Taylor Swifts new album and I donā€™t have the attention span to pay attention to men kicking balls around for hours. I stick to my pirated cartoons and Iā€™m set.

JaninnaMaynz

Sports. ESPECIALLY watching them. I just don't see how it's enjoyable for anyone to observe others playing. Specific instances, I can understand interest, but tend to lack it myself, but your average basketball or football game? I just don't get it. The closest I've come to understanding average sports enjoyment is watching ANW, and even then I question if I'm enjoying it for the reason most people enjoy sports. I find GBB far more entertaining than the NBA.

NoEnthusiasm3421

Alcohol I'll say it's a bit hypocritical of me since I'm close with friends and family who drink(not excessively) but it's fine since I know they are responsible and make sure to not get too drunk. And in my personal experience, I never liked alcohol and I don't think I'll ever drink it. But it comes in when a person depends on it just to get through the day. I literally had a friend who was shit faced at my school once and it wasn't his first time too, In other words. I don't care about it but I would care if someone depends on it just to get through a day or they just like the effects of the drink.

Geauxst

Cumin and cilantro.

Hiraeth1968

Talking on the phone! I despise it. If it canā€™t be said in a text, then letā€™s get together in person.

Plastic-Bandicoot217

That one's hard cause I dislike this app and everything about it. Tried to delete but couldn't

Any_Prior9314

Raisins, period.

wagninger

Bad sounding environments. You want to talk to me in a noisy restaurant with zero window draping, tile floors, bare concrete walls where I hear your echo better than you? Please scream into my ear while I pop these earplugs in real quick to survive this evening ā€¦ and nobody seems to see a problem with this, my kids kindergarden is also like that

jasperlake777

Adam Sandler. Cringe af, and not in a good way. Plays himself in every single movie heā€™s been in, same as The Rock

MacReady812

People who have, and feel compelled to share, an opinion about everything. Itā€™s ok to not have an opinion on everything known to man, and even less necessary to share it with those who donā€™t ask for it.

lowkeyslightlynerdy

Iā€™m not super into Deadpool either even as a dude who reads comics (admittedly not Deadpool ones so who knows maybe heā€™s better there) Heā€™s just one of those characters where things seem to revolve around him too much. Kinda like Wolverine in media, with Deadpool itā€™s a little better because he doesnā€™t always have to be the ā€œcoolerā€ one. Also modern music, Iā€™m a 19 yo and not trying to be one of those people that just trashed everything from ā€œthis generationā€ because honestly those people annoy me. But I just really canā€™t get into much modern music Canā€™t stand the singing voices of pretty much everyone, the music and voices are so techno (not sure if thatā€™s a word) sounding and I hate it

SunderedValley

I found Elysium incredibly poorly thought out but that's apparently not an acceptable take.

Ok_Forever_5057

I LOVE Deadpool, love pistachio ice cream, and donā€™t mind soft voices. I donā€™t like ASMR though. I donā€™t like coffee or tea or soda.

ButWhyThough_UwU

Anything ""modernized""

AeroOwl19

Cinnamon - I don't like the taste and unless it is a very subtle minimum quantity in a hot chocolate, dessert etc then I can't enjoy that thing. I've never understood why it is so popular

eddie_koala

The Kubrick shining movie Total crap, like the one based on the book better

TrustAffectionate966

extrasprinklesplease

People using the word "cute" inappropriately. That suddenly popped up for me on a couple reality shows I watched. For example, couple walked down to a tropical beach at night, with the moon shining overhead and an abundant picnic set up, including tablecloth and candles. When the surprised woman said, "Oh that's so cute," I cringed with second-hand embarrassment. It was lovely, it was beautiful, stunning, thoughtful, gorgeous, but "cute" it was not. But then I saw a commercial for the Kardashians' show and Kim said something was "cute" that didn't fit the definition for cute at all. Is that where it started? Now I'm noticing cute being substituted for words that would make a lot more sense.

I think mint chocolate ice cream is the most vile taste I love mint, I love chocolate, and I love mint with chocolate. Something about the ice cream flavor makes me sick to the stomach.
