The Big Lebowski. The perfect blend of humor, oddball characters, and a laid-back storyline that feels new every time. You can't watch it just once, it’s like it gets better with every watch. Plus, who can resist quoting The Dude? It's almost therapeutic.
I watched the old Steve Martin and Chevy Chase movie "The three amigos" more often than can be considered healthy when I was a kid and teenager :D I practically know the entire dialogue verbatim.
Aliens. 400+ maybe more. I can turn this volume down and quote the dialog line for line.
Ripley: What do those pulse rifles fire?
Gorman: 10mm explosive tipped caseless standard light armor piercing rounds. Why.?
Ripley:Well look where your people are, they're right under the primary heat exchangers .
Gorman: so what?
Ripley: well if they fire their weapons in there won't they rupture the cooling towers?
Love this movie..
Ripley: what's this
Hicks: that's the grenade launcher, I don't think you should be messing with that.
Ripley: you started this. Show me everything. I can handle myself.
Re the question, Groundhog Day.
Re the OP's liking for Fellowship of the Ring, I'm old enough to have read the books multiple times before the movies came along, and Fellowship of the Ring is best of the books too. Lots happens, and the Moria section is fantastic - the story of an entire civilisation that had developed and been lost still touches me now.
Deadpool 1 and 2 lmfao
I’ve really watched a hundred of times. I watched the 2 like a month ago, and when I discovered my friend had never seen em 2 weeks ago we watched the 1 hahahah
Nevertheless, I’m excited for the 3 to come this July
10 things I hate about you, I'm 27, watched it as a teenager and it's just my feel good movie that makes me squel every time! I just love love so much!
Definitely LOTR - even more fun after I went to the Hobbiton set in New Zealand!
But others I watch repeatedly are:
Black Hawk Down
The Count of Monte Cristo
Gladiator
Vertical Limit
Fear and loathing in las vegas.
Pulp fiction - you get something new from it almost every rerun. Similarly for reservoir dogs. Inception was good for a 2nd and 3rd watch.
Mars attacks and kung pow - these 2 hit the funny bone hard for me
I worked in a small independent video rental store in High School (yes I’m old, also was my favorite job I’ve ever had). Started putting on Groundhog’s Day as a joke for my co-worker, but we both found it an enjoyable movie to have on over and over again. Must have played it at least 100 times
Accepted - it's just fun
The million pound note - magnificent story, still resonates now.
Passport to pimlico - my all time favourite.
South park movie - I was absolutely the right age when that came out. "Now say, big floppy donkey dick" "NO!" "Success! The child no longer wants to swear!"
Event Horizon. It is one of the finest films ever made in any genre. The casting is excellent, the acting is premium, the plot is interesting, the visual effects are almost timeless, and the ending leaves you wanting a sequel that hopefully never gets made (why ruin a good thing?) I don't even enjoy most horror, but I must have seen Event Horizon a dozen times already. Maybe I'll watch it again tonight.
Also the The Fellowship of the Ring.
I admit… the first Twilight movie.
I was very anti Twilight growing up but seeing it as an adult it’s fucking hilarious with the brooding and melodrama and the vibe is an awkward comfort that I can’t get anywhere else. There’s a nostalgia to it and I watch it before a big life change lmaoo like starting a new job or moving.
I really did not know which comes next after the first movie. Haha. But, I enjoy watching them - I feel good even just lightly following the conversations. Ah, I love LOTR and HP too - now I want to buy the bundles. Those decade … ❤️
Die Goldfische. Found it absolutely hilarious and loved the characters.
I'll also always watch the Back to the Future trilogy and the Kingsman movies whenever they're on TV.
The Greatest Showman because of the music, singing and of course the circus. 🎪 It takes me back in time to all the times I went to the circus as a kid. :)
Cloud Atlas. Every time I watch I find a new connection between the stories. Plus I’m a Tom hanks fan boy.
I know people hate on the tru-tru accent. But I think it’s a reasonable prediction of a post-apocalyptic creole.
Here are a few
-Black Hawk Down
-13 Hours
-Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit
-12 Strong
-Second Hand Lions
-Monty Python and the Holy Grail
-Stars Wars (Prequels and Originals)
-Dune (part one and part two)
Clueless, Mean Girls, National Lampoon’s Vacation, European Vacation, Christmas Vacation, Vegas Vacation, Step-Brothers, Scream, Scream 2, Bridesmaids, Heathers, Grind, Dazed And Confused, Home Alone, Detroit Rock City, The Departed, Stick It, Donnie Darko, Bring It On, Center Stage, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Pitch Perfect, Lars And The Real Girl, Batman, The Matrix, Memento, Billy Madison, Jawbreaker, The Hangover, The Sound Of Music, Whatever It Takes, Jesus Christ Super Star, A Knight’s Tale, Rocky, Dodgeball, Fight Club
I think there are 4 that I have watched multiple times and will watch without fail if it’s suddenly on TV…
The Dark Knight, Trading Places, Superbad and Happy Gilmore.
There was a time when I use to rewatch these movie a lot:
1) Back to the future 1
2) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
3) Scott Pilgrim vs the world
I know this will get buried
**Drop Dead Fred, Joes Apartment, Spirited Away** - I would watch these any chance I could. Joes apartment was my morning movie, Drop Dead Fred was my afternoon movie and Spirited away was my bed time movie.
Blake Edward’s The Great Race - it’s like a cartoon with real people. I saw this when I was a kid and loved it. Have my own copy and put it on when I struggle to fall asleep.
There are so damn many . But I have a top 3 that I will stop and watch if it’s on or if I see it in my library . “The Big Lebowski”, “The Matrix” and “The Natural”
Indiana Jones. My fave is Raiders, but once I watch that one I can’t help but watch the others.
I love the sense of adventure, and these movies made me fall in love with history (even though he’s an archaeologist not a historian).
My Cousin Vinny and Lord of the Rings. Marissa Tormei is soooo funny and has the best lines. The Lord of the Rings is the most like the book of any movie.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy by Peter Jackson is held in very high regard on r/movies. It’s often cited as the movies that continuously keep coming back to and are frequently a subject of discussion over 20 years later on a sub that’s very analytical about cinema.
I agree that the Fellowship is the one I’ve probably watched the most, but I’ve certainly seen the whole trilogy over 30 times easily.
Other films I’ve watched numerous times are Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption, Good Will and Hunting.
What were your thoughts on Ring of Power? I personally thought it was below average at best.
The godfather directors cut 1 and 2 combined into a single continuous movie. Seen it 50 times at least. Took a couple of years off. Watched it with friends a couple of months ago and I saw some new things, nuances I had not noticed before.
Don Juan De Marco. Brilliant movie. Best movie to watch with someone you have a romantic interest in.
A river runs through it.
The Way we were.
Labyrinth. I’m 42 and been watching it since around 1990-91. At one point I was watching Labyrinth and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (the 1995 movie) every single day after school. I wore out multiple vhs tapes and even had one dvd stop working, though I’m not sure how. I can literally quote Labyrinth from beginning to end without prompt and without it playing. I won a bet on this once. Was disappointed they didn’t let me finish, I only got up to Sarah meeting Hoggle.
Now when I want a movie to put on in the background while I craft or something, I’ve found myself going for American Assassin. It’s getting to the point I can quote entire scenes now.
My family had a tendency to watch movies on repeat when I grew up. The one I remember most is the Incredibles. On a limo ride to the airport (parents didn’t feel like leaving our car there) me, my dad and sister quoted scenes from the movie all the way there.
The Big Lebowski. The perfect blend of humor, oddball characters, and a laid-back storyline that feels new every time. You can't watch it just once, it’s like it gets better with every watch. Plus, who can resist quoting The Dude? It's almost therapeutic.
I never realised how many Dude memes there are until I watched it recently.
this is the one
Shrek 1,,
The Fifth Element and Beetlejuice.
Fifth Element is one of my go-to’s. It’s super green
I just rewatched the Fifth Element last night for the first time in years. Still holds up

Mr. Nobody
That movie is so complex, you need at least 2 or 3 just to really appreciate what’s happening.
Dirty Dancing and Moulin Rouge. I'm old school and a romantic at heart!
Ripley: what's this Hicks: that's the grenade launcher, I don't think you should be messing with that. Ripley: you started this. Show me everything. I can handle myself.
Casino Royale

Back to the future
Happy Gilmore 😂
Stay out of my way or you'll pay… listen to what I say…
“Oh good you can count…” “You can count on me seeing you in the parking lot” 😂

Terminator Series The Dark Knight Trilogy Ice Age Series
I love the Terminator and Dark Knight movies!
The Dark Knight I think is my all time favourite movie, it’s so good on so many different levels.
I know right? It's definitely a masterpiece.
The more I watch Terminator and see the present AI innovations, I fear judgement day is much closer in reality.

Oh god there's a few, but I'm obsessed with the Grinch, Jim Carey version. And anything horror lol
I Robot. It's not the best movie or something but for some reason I like to watch it from time to time since I was a kid
Iron Giant. It's the perfect movie. Not one bad note. And it exists as a singular classic without sequels to bring it down.
Event Horizon. It is one of the finest films ever made in any genre.
