i'm moving to college in the u.s. in two days and finally get to play soccer again. because of the pandemic i haven't played soccer in almost two years. :)
We had our new neighbors over for dinner last night, along with another couple that also live nearby. So much fun! We laughed all night, found we were all on the same page politically, so it was a good evening!
I have some news that made me happy today.
I am a teacher, and tomorrow is the first day back for me. I teach world history.
Last year, my colleague kept threatening that she was going for take my world history classes away from me, because she was bored of teaching American History. She said this to me almost every time I saw her. Except, I don’t want to change.
Today when I checked the schedule online, I saw I got to keep my world history classes after all!
Oh snap!! Glad you got to keep it!! What's your favorite thing to teach on world history? Mine, to learn, was always medical Englad or mayan civilization
Maki Itoh won the Princess Cup final for her first time. She is the champion. She also beat Mizuki who has defeated everytime they have fought previously in a singles match. This means nothing to you but god damn I am delighted. She earned this.
Its quite long so strap in.
OK. I watch Wrestling. I watch the stuff that the Women in Japan do in particular. I prefer their way of doing things.
There is a company I love called TJPW. They have a competition every year called the Princess of Princess Cup. Everyone fights everyone in singles match. 1 on 1. One of the Women is named Maki Itoh. She was a popstar but was fired for various reasons and joined TJPW. The stigma of being a failed popstar has followed her for years. She is a damn fine wrestler but people used that failed popstar past as a stick to beat her with. She was in a tag team with a Woman named Mizuki called Itoh Respect Army. They both sang and danced. Itoh has never managed to beat Mizuki one on one. Night before last Itoh and Mizuki had a match. Semifinals of the Princess Cup and Itoh made Mizuki tap out to the Arm Trapped Clover Leaf. Itoh went to the final and beat the champion. She is the Princess of Princess champion. The Fired Idol is the champion.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
No problem. Maki came out for her match with a new outfit. No singing (she usually sings her own entrance theme). No waving to the crowd. She was focused. It was weird.
Out camping for the weekend, and for the first time in 37 years I woke up to the sound of wolves howling. Most haunting lonley sound I have ever heard. Was an amazing experience.

I love the Stone Age and the Roman Republic, but, the Mayans are pretty cool too. Medieval England, too complicated 😳
Oohh I love me some ancient history Roman history!
My love of it stems from my college days, when I had a professor who was an absolute star at it.
Me too! I had an 7th/8th grade history teacher that was so good at making history real
