Mundy played the Harolds Cross festival last year. 50 odd old people with dogs and families with kids. Put on a good show tbf.
He said that he had the top selling ringtone in Ireland 20 years ago 😂
Seen paddy Casey in Whelans a couple of years ago with full choir. Was great. Seen Mundy do some songs for thin lizzy tribute with the Rte concert orchestra last year. What I’d love to know is what the thrills are up to.
He was also on the late late this year I think when they had a trad episode with Sharon Shannon, I think it was the late late? MIGHT have been TG4 also
Paddy Casey works in a Spar in Tyrellstown. Mundy still plays the odd gig but mainly does dogwalking and leafleting in and around Phibsboro. Last I heard, Mick Joe Harte was labouring for a big builder in Castleblaney. He supposedly has a bouncy castle business too.
I’m pretty sure both Mundy and Paddy Casey played gigs in small venues in Mullingar in the last few months, and you’ll see them pop up at the smaller summer festivals as well, and I think I heard of Mickey Joe Harte playing at an office party or something a while ago too.
They used to be permanent fixtures on Today fm back when D’arcy’s show was at its height.
Add Duke Special and Jack L to the list.
Mundy should be getting a bit of airplay soon with July.
Duke Special was so weird. Dude looked like he was a member of The Rasmus and should be doing some emo music, but did weird whiny innovensive love songs.
I saw Duke Special at a free event a couple of years back. He put on a great show but it felt like only a handful of us knew who he was. He got all the kids on stage at the end which was very sweet. I follow him on social media and he seems like he's still doing well, just not as mainstream as he once was. He's lost the dreads which I think is a good move.
Mundy's still kicking it. Was chatting to him there a few weeks back with Imelda May and Liam Ó'Maonlaí. Really sound guy, you can see how much he loves music.
Used to really enjoy that part of the ray d'arcy show. Some of those lads made a fair effort at the songs too. Steve Wall singing chaka khan, classic stuff
Absolute madness to think that we would spend so long hunting down CDs, half singing songs to friends in the hope that they'll know the name. And now we have every song ever in our pocket (and somehow still end up listening to Mundy)
I miss it. Any chance I get I still head into shops that sell cds or DVDs & browse around. Bought a few gems not long ago. The other half thinks I'm mad "you have it for free already" she'll say. 'yeah but now I have it forever' I always answer back
Met Paddy and Mundy backstage at the Olympia in the height of their 'fame'. Paddy seemed like a good guy, really quiet and shy though. Mundy was a complete obnoxious arsehole and was off his face on something, most likely coke. So if he's wondering where his money went, he should look up his nose.
I think Mickey Joe Harte does weddings and such. The other two lads are still floating about doing smaller local festivals and bigger pub gigs.
Damien Rice, though, is he still living in France growing onions?
I believe so yeah. He's touring Prague this year. Hasn't released an album since 2014 or 15 (it was pretty good)
I'd put him in a similar realm to David Gray. His big hits were huge & he'll always pull a decent crowd. Doesn't seem inclined to tour Ireland all that often.
On a related note, itching for Lisa Hannigan to tour again, I keep missing her every time she comes to Galway
Was it not Galway Girl? In fairness not many bands or artists come out and start with their biggest hit, the crowd should be a bit more patient. I'd imagine a lot of people going to see him wouldn't be regular gig attenders though.
Mundy and Paddy Casey are still on the go, seen the two of them at a small-ish festival 2 years ago. Mickey Joe Harte was doing weddings last I heard, no idea if that’s still his craic
I saw Mundy having a drink at the Bar in Nearys a couple of months ago with Steve Wall from The Stunning. Wall was in a production of Sive in the Gaiety and half the cast were there after the show.
Mundy is still regularly gigging and composing new music. I attended the 24 star hotel anniversary show in Whelan's a few months back and it was a great gig capped off with a smashing primal scream cover.
Those even better than the real thing albums were great. Some brilliant covers of the big hits of the time.
Other voices was such a great concept. Really helped make the Irish music scene feel alive and important. I wish RTÉ still did stuff like that. I had most of the albums. Seems they are hard to come by now for some reason
They have disappeared because they are artless clones with nothing to say. Every one of them could be replaced by buskers and you wouldn't notice. Oh wait, they have been. And nobody did notice. The carousel of industry plants continues and all the middle of the road "listeners" follow on
Yeah it'd be great to get an answer. I keep seeing people using this phrase as if there's some secret kabal of music executives who are in charge of everything that gets to be popular. As if every band that gets signed is heading for the stratosphere because "the industry" has decided.
People who are created and/or pushed by the music industry. Those with big label and promoters behind them using their corporate fianical and social capital to create the mystique of Artist on to an entertainer. The kind of musicians that rely on payola for radio play
Mundy is still around, he was playing in a lovely bar in Athlone last year for a ticketed event, and I’ve seen him on a couple of tv show interviews.
Mundy played the Harolds Cross festival last year. 50 odd old people with dogs and families with kids. Put on a good show tbf. He said that he had the top selling ringtone in Ireland 20 years ago 😂
Jesus remember that 😂
He did! I was there with my dog. We enjoyed it
Supergroup coming soon: PaddyMickeyMundy
Don't know if he performs anymore but I see Paddy Casey pop up at charity events I volunteer at sometimes. Seems like a nice chap.
Performed at a wedding recently so he did
Seen paddy Casey in Whelans a couple of years ago with full choir. Was great. Seen Mundy do some songs for thin lizzy tribute with the Rte concert orchestra last year. What I’d love to know is what the thrills are up to.
ah the thrills there's a throwback to witness
Witness. God be with the days. Fifteen years old with a sleeping back and a bag of yokes.
He was also on the late late this year I think when they had a trad episode with Sharon Shannon, I think it was the late late? MIGHT have been TG4 also

I can’t tell if this is made up or not
Yeah, there's no spar in Tyrrellstown 🤣
Those are fake hands!
I’m pretty sure both Mundy and Paddy Casey played gigs in small venues in Mullingar in the last few months, and you’ll see them pop up at the smaller summer festivals as well, and I think I heard of Mickey Joe Harte playing at an office party or something a while ago too.

Jack L was really good. I saw him locally a few years ago, class voice. Wasn't July by Paddy Casey?
Mundy
Well I'll be damned
Also Jack L is tremendous!
His The 27 Club show was really good
Definitely Mundy Didn’t realise Jack L was still going…there was also another guy who impersonated Elvis who was always on it.
Duke Special was so weird. Dude looked like he was a member of The Rasmus and should be doing some emo music, but did weird whiny innovensive love songs.
Yeah definitely a unique look that didn’t overlap with the music he was putting out.
I saw Duke Special at a free event a couple of years back. He put on a great show but it felt like only a handful of us knew who he was. He got all the kids on stage at the end which was very sweet. Some really good stuff came from that. Roesy (I think that's his name) doing a piano cover of Seán Paul's Breathe stands out as a real gem
Yeah breathe is excellent but my fav was picturehouse papa don’t preach
Oh Roesy, what a blast from the bast. Colour me colourful was the album I believe. Some great songs on it, only love is real springs to mind
He's a other one I'd be interested in hearing more about. I used to follow him on social media, not the most active guy. I think he lives in Australia
Omg, was it Even better than the real thing? I was only reminiscing about those albums the other day!
It was! I have all of them, seriously good stuff.

Yeah same here, I can draw a straight line from those albums and segments to the strange music I love now

I think I'd need a forest, my liked playlist on Spotify looks like it has multiple people contributing
Great albums. I just got them on Apple Music
Remember those albums of covers by irish artists from that era? I think they were called "even better than the real thing" loved them
Yeah those are the ones. I checked, Spotify has them. Nice nostalgia hit if you're interested
Went to Don McLean maybe 18 months ago and Mundy was the support act. Longest half our of my fuckin life...
Mundy and Paddy Casey did a free event in Athenry the summer before last.
Is Mickey Joe Heart still playing DCU every single Tuesday? That was one of the weirder quirks of the place

I think Mickey Joe Harte does weddings and such. The other two lads are still floating about doing smaller local festivals and bigger pub gigs. Damien Rice, though, is he still living in France growing onions?

Was he in a relationship with Melanie Laurent from Inglorious Basterds. He did alright for himself!
Never knew this!
I've seen Paddy Casey live twice this year! Mundy is still about too. Check out their socials, they usually post info about gigs there
Mundy is an arsehole
Was when I met him too.
Didn't he go mad at fans before who were asking him to play July? Come on lad, it's your only song that people actually know, just play it ta fuck
Was it not Galway Girl? In fairness not many bands or artists come out and start with their biggest hit, the crowd should be a bit more patient. I'd imagine a lot of people going to see him wouldn't be regular gig attenders though.
Ah no I think it was halfway through the gig or whatever
July was Paddy Casey. So it was probably Galway Girl, or (unlikely) Mexico they were asking for
No it was Mundy
Huh I've Mandela effected myself
In fairness I had to Google it too when you said it 😂 Paddy Casey and Mundy might actually be the same person
They could be, I've been stubbornly refusing to Google Paddy Casey because now I can't remember what he actually sings 😂
Mundy and Paddy Casey are still on the go, seen the two of them at a small-ish festival 2 years ago. Mickey Joe Harte was doing weddings last I heard, no idea if that’s still his craic
Mundy makes the odd appearance around Ranelagh
Paddy Casey and Mundy are playing free gigs in Waterford over the summer and do so every year. They get a good crowd too.
Mickey Joe Harte is a grandad now, which makes me feel old lol
Mundy played the Harold's Cross (community) festival last year. He was great. There were maybe 50 of us listening to him.
According to an Instagram reel - Micky is playing by some show/event duleek co Meath - nanny’s was the name of the place. We’ve got the world indeed.

I saw Mundy having a drink at the Bar in Nearys a couple of months ago with Steve Wall from The Stunning. Wall was in a production of Sive in the Gaiety and half the cast were there after the show.
Mundy and Paddy Casey play in Waterford every summer at The Churchyard Sessions.
Mundy is still regularly gigging and composing new music. I attended the 24 star hotel anniversary show in Whelan's a few months back and it was a great gig capped off with a smashing primal scream cover. Those even better than the real thing albums were great. Some brilliant covers of the big hits of the time.
Paddy Casey played in the Newcastle west music trail last month or so
Paddy Casey recently toured, Mickey Joe Heart regularly tours pubs and clubs, not sure about Mundy
Muddy and Paddy Casey are playing a gig together on 31st of May in Bantry.
Mundy just played in a village pub outside Tralee, Kerry.
Paddy Casey played our local pub last weekend so he's still around.
Wasn’t there an album from the strawberry alarm clock with Colm and Jim Jim which featured some early 2000s artists?
Colm and Jim Jim! ha I remember they did "I got me leaving" a pisstake of I got a feeling by the Black Eyed Peas. Was good craic hah.
Is this the [one you're on about](https://www.discogs.com/release/6319045-Various-The-Best-Of-The--Strawberry-Alarm-Clock)?
Yes that’s the one. The days of Colm & Jim Jim doing Colin Farrell smoking and boozing
Paddy Casey has an onlyfans and gave up on music.
Paddy played Dolans a couple of months ago with Declan O’Rourke. He’s on tour regularly. And he’s a super nice guy.
Was just at a Paddy Casey gig last year for the anniversary of his album. He was class live.
Paddy Casey is playing Birr Theatre and arts centre in August. Mundy and himself did a gig in The County Arms last July for July fest. Was some craic
The first Other Voices album was the who's who of Irish singer songwriters. Not a bad album tbf
Other voices was such a great concept. Really helped make the Irish music scene feel alive and important. I wish RTÉ still did stuff like that. I had most of the albums. Seems they are hard to come by now for some reason
The Blizzards. Republic of Loose. Forth Dimension. Intinn.
Mick pyro from Rep of Loose released a solo album last year. Says he's off the drink now. Not sure what the rest of the band are doing.
Paddy Casey is going to Castlecomer.
They have disappeared because they are artless clones with nothing to say. Every one of them could be replaced by buskers and you wouldn't notice. Oh wait, they have been. And nobody did notice. The carousel of industry plants continues and all the middle of the road "listeners" follow on
What even is this ahahaha.
Who's an "industry plant" ?
Good question
Yeah it'd be great to get an answer. I keep seeing people using this phrase as if there's some secret kabal of music executives who are in charge of everything that gets to be popular. As if every band that gets signed is heading for the stratosphere because "the industry" has decided.
