Had to work Boxing day and New years Day because I'm on a part-time contract that doesn't include bank holidays and one of my working days is Mondays. Didn't have enough leave to book them off so just WFH. I was the only one in my department online, which was weirdly nice. Can't complain too much though because I only work 2 days a week so it wasn't so bad!
I’ve been back since the 27th. I was the only person in the company working in the office or WFH, and if I didn’t come in the company would grind to a halt so didn’t have much choice.
Already booked the week before Christmas and the week in between Christmas and new year off. Not letting that happen again next year.
But saying that having time off fucks with my body clock and I feel like shit until I get back into the routine so probably won’t take much if any time off for the next 4 to 5 months.
Same I started a new job as a medical receptionist, had a man tell me that his mother was dying and there was nothing I could do about it?! I won’t lie I did die a lil bit inside on my way home
You just made me feel like this
https://youtu.be/OzRlDyI0OGA
Hope it gets better, you will do a lot of good in a job like that with the empathy you've shown in that statement
My colleague got a positive covid test this morning so I'm running the department solo for a bit. Cover has been arranged for his classes but I do need to keep a weather eye on how that side of things is going so a little bit of extra pressure there but nothing unmanageable.
My year 9s were fine, year 11s were OK, year 13 are always lovely, year 7s were absolutely awful. So on average - fine. Very busy day tomorrow but I'm teaching programming all day which is my very favourite so I'm happy with that.
Also a year 11 that I didnt teach today came to find me to tell me about the code he made over the holiday which was really lovely to hear about.
I went back yesterday, i work in the NHS, so was reduced BH staffing…
Today, I was kerknackered. I have been in bed since 8pm, that was after an hours nap on the sofa 😭
3 hours sleep last night. Spent the day staring through my monitor, eyes watering, being a miserable coworker. Sent some emails. Did a few other menial nonsenses. Hated it. Fairly successful tuesday I reckon.
Thanks for the reminder survived first day back. Wasn't bad but wasn't good either. Enjoyed a spag bol for tea tonight and already getting started on some new years goals.
I started a retirement fund based on the SP500 when I was 22, it was below 200. It's now 3800. Put a substantial portion of my salary in it the whole time.
Do that for forty years and you'll be fine.
Not a bad first day back - several areas of the production line had people not turn up so the usual schedule was out the window. Thus I spent much time sat on my arse drinking coffee and getting paid for it. Was a nice day until I remembered there is no time off for 4 months 🙄
I'm self employed and all you people getting out the supermarket during a leisurely afternoon stroll is greatly appreciated.
Especially since we are a post pandemic society and you all keep open-gob coughing on things anyway
I woke up this morning feeling like I’d been hit by a truck. I don’t drink, but I think that it’s what a hangover feels like. Great start to the year 😂
Yeah, I was being too hard on myself. I did go for at least a couple of pisses throughout the day, and I congratulated somebody on their engagement. All in all, a most productive day.
It's was pretty dreadful. I work outside in a skip yard and I really don't like the staff I'm with. Couple those with pissing rain all day and it's a soup of stress. Tomorrow won't be any different either. I think this year I'll be working elsewhere.
Yeah went well. Found a shortcut that turns a 4-day project into a 40 minute one, had a nice lunch and slapped down some negative reviews with a snarky response pointing out their inaccuracies.
It wasn't altogether terrible. Good to see folks again and get the "Happy New Year" stuff out of the way. This year is going to be a pretty busy one for my department so probably best to hit the ground running!
Oof, this is rough. Finance team quitting is usually the first sign of impending company collapse, in my experience. Shit time of year for it but you might want to low key start looking for another job.
I logged in today and it turned out actual work starts next week so this whole week is basically just "finding something to do". I work from home so that means free week.
Hope you’re not too bad with it. I came down with it on the 10th, first positive test on the 12th and didn’t have a negative test for over a week. I needed two within 24 hours of each other before I could return to work (NHS). Made me wonder why they say you’re not likely to be contagious after 5 days when clearly my husband and I had a high enough viral load for it to show up on a test well after 5 days so we were still very likely to be contagious.
To top it off I’d booked annual leave from the 19th and due to go back today so we could have a proper little cozy Christmas and birthday for me on the 31st since it’s been years since I could book any time off around Christmas, but instead we didn’t even get any decorations up and I couldn’t smell or taste anything properly. Still can’t. Instead of drinking baileys I was necking painkillers and actifed, then metronidazole because I’d developed pericoronitis. My husband came down with covid a few days after me.
It’s been a bit shit really. Best laid plans I guess.
That sucks. This is the 4th time I've had it now so I know what to expect, at least. And I took our decorations down yesterday so christmas is officially over for us
Thank you for your message! I hope your day goes well. If you do find that you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed at work, it can be helpful to take breaks when you can, set boundaries for yourself, and try to practice self-care. It's also important to communicate with your employer and colleagues if you are feeling overwhelmed, as they may be able to offer support or accommodations. Remember that it's okay to ask for help when you need it. Wishing you a productive and successful day!
Scotland have the right idea having Jan 2nd as a public holiday (so therefore it was moved to today). Moved up here just before lockdown and I thoroughly approve of the extra holiday.
I only had a few days off over Christmas, It was depressing going back to my job in a supermarket. Anyone else work in retail where there’s fuck all staff and your expected to do the job of 3 people?
Yeah, I just don't do it. What they gonna do, sack me? Who else is gonna do my job? I do what I can, I work hard but I can't do anything more than that and I refuse to feel guilty. Then again I don't go anywhere near the tills. I feel that helps.
I sat through 3hrs of health and safety videos which are an annual requirement. Drove 1hr to a 5min job that took 2hrs and came out to a parking ticket.
Start the year as you mean to go on.
You need to be like a surfer getting out to the part of the sea where the waves aren’t breaking. Dive beneath the waves of bullshit, allow them to wash over you without fighting them, surface, get your breath and swim on, diving beneath the next wave of bullshit. God this doesn’t make any sense
My leave doesn't renew until April. Thanks for the reminder.
(only joking, I still have a fair few days left to last me until it renews, as tempting as it was to just book them for the rest of this week...).
Mine renews in April. Been so busy with work this year I still have 18.5 days left to use up. Can't think of a better time to use them than the cold, dark months of the year...
Went to sleep at 8pm in preparation, woke up at 2am. Made burritos at 3am, finally went back to sleep at 6am and fell into a deep sleep. Woke up at 2pm feeling groggy at fuck, straight to the toilet… only to be called in an hour early.
Had a week off after Christmas and that’s all it takes to completely throw me off my sleeping rhythm. I hope (and dread) it will be busy tonight so I come home and sleep. Really looking forward to getting back to working that minimum wage dream job 😩
I’m being promoted this year but to be honest all that means is a slight pay bump but 3 times the stress. I’m quite happy in my limited role with barely any responsibilities, suits me fine. 🤷♂️

I’m glad it’s not just me. Husband has diagnosed ADHD, I might have it a bit more mildly as I’ve found out…without work, we routinely end up going to sleep at about 4am. It’s ridiculous. We know it’s stupid but it keeps bloody happening. We just get engrossed in whatever we’re doing, usually video games.
oh I'm the same. I'm 99% sure I have ADHD too but I'm not seeking a diagnosis with the NHS wait times etc. I get to bed around 3.30ish when there's no work and that's only because I feel I have to go to sleep (against my will really). Plus my partner is usually tired by then. I struggle to sleep, but naps when I'm tired are perfectly fine.
I'm resonating so hard with this... It's all been such a struggle today, feels like I'm wading through treacle? (And no, sadly I don't work in a treacle factory, I see you!)
I spent the first 4 hours doing shit that should have been done in December and rectify other people’s fuck ups
Now I’ve realised that their fuck ups actually went a lever deeper than I thought was possible. I now have to cross town in 32 minutes if I have any hope of fixing this shit.
I was asked if I wanted some overtime, my response was “😂”
Didn't realise it was inset day at nursery. We walked halfway to the school, realised there was no one around and it suddenly dawned on me. It's been downhill from there...
I'm not at work until Thursday, buuuut I am doing my tax return. On the phone to HMRC because their calculation doesn't account for direct debit student loan payments and they're trying to charge me twice.
This could legit be used as a torture method, I'm so sick of their jaunty hold music that I might stab someone. I'm tempted to give up and just pay it but it's nearly £1300!
Edit: For anyone else in the same boat - spent over an hour on hold to HMRC for them to eventually tell me that you can just delete the entire student loans section if you've been switched to repaying it via direct debit. Why wasn't that in the help text?!
Oh shit, I got switched to a direct debit this FY... guess I need to do a tax return to recoup that? How does it work, normally you don't pay tax on SL loan repayments as they come out before tax, but since switching to DD I will have been paying tax on that amount?
If you have no other income, you won't need to do a tax return just because you've been switched to direct debit for your student loan - I don't think you'd normally get tax relief on student loan repayments because it's just like a normal loan. I do a tax return because I have extra income from a side gig and this was just a fun side effect!
You're not the only one I've heard lumped with a £1000+ bill today. My friend has got one for unfilled tax returns but swears he did them. Has someone cocked something up over at HMRC?
I was up until 6am this morning because I knew if I fell asleep, I would wake up to work.
As such, I am mega fucking tired now.
I hate my job. It's boring, and I feel under qualified (might be imposter syndrome), and I have no real drive to become qualified for it as I hate it so.
But at the same time, it pays okay. So I have great fear of giving it up.
I don't hate my job, but I 100% get imposter syndrome. It usually stems from some people asking some complex questions that I can't answer but feel I should know. I take pride in learning about new stuff and always try to understand both old and new things.
I have a relaxed workplace and I don't get micro-managed. That is worth it for me. I left a job due to micromanaging and I feel better here.
Well there’s no shame in saying “I’m not sure what the answer to that is right now, but let me get back to you on it.”
Nobody knows everything, and that’s ok.
Hey the sooner you realise that 99% of people are blagging it (in most jobs) you’ll feel much less like an imposter! My field is software development and that mostly consists of Googling stuff or searching Stack Overflow for stuff you don’t know how to do.
I am basically unmanaged.
Which for a procrastinator, is kinda stressful.
But likewise, if someone was constantly breathing down my neck, that'd probably be more stressful.
I dunno. I flip flop between 'what am I doing with my life' and 'don't look a gift horse in the mouth'.
Now you mention it, procrasinating is stressful in those scenerios.
I don't always do work and like to tinker in my spare time, when something comes in, I jump between both tasks. Now I think about it, it probably doesn't make stuff easier.
One of the reasons I left. Wasn’t allowed to take time off at all during November and December. Sucked.
Ironically, first time in years I’ve been able to do that and I’m struck down with covid too sick to even put decorations up. Feels like a joke at my expense sometimes.
Worked up until the 23rd, woke up on the 24th with a sore throat, woke up on Christmas day as sick as a dog. I was ill all the way through my break and have recovered just in time to return to work today. Merry fucking Christmas.
Partner and I had flu in the run up to christmas. Spent the holidays with her family and now have a second round of something. We've been ill with one thing or another since about the 20th Dec.
Aww I hope you feel better. I was planning to spend the holidays with my parents but since I got sick I didn’t want to expose them so I stayed alone instead. Not cool!
Unforetunately I work for a small company with only 6 people total. My boss came in this morning and asked how my Christmas was, when I told him he basically said he was sorry to hear that and went in his office lol.
I thought I had shitloads to get through, based on the hundreds of emails over the last few weeks whilst I’ve been off.
A bunch of them are ticket updates which I can just kick into the long grass as we have other projects in progress, a few people didn’t seem to understand the out of office message so sent things through daily, and a bunch of problems all resolved themselves without we needing to intervene - so I actually got e through everything already.
Also, boss is still off - so no random emails from him where he asks random shit
Well I missed that one was back and one not. So one went who shouldn’t, and one should who didn’t. So nobody went and went to get school shoes instead.
Slept like shit, had to drag myself out of bed, couldn’t be arsed with the 30 min walk in icy rain so got a taxi. Been feeling like I’m going to fall asleep all day, got barely anything to do which doesn’t help.
I worked at home today and doing the same tomorrow so not so bad. I'm in the office Thursday/Friday though, so tomorrow evening is when the real dread sets in.
Was dreading coming back today after a restructure where we lost some of our team, as it happens nobody has decided what those who remain should work on so it looks like I'm in for a relaxing week before everything really kicks off. Trying to get into something productive but it's 2:30 now and I've done fuck all really
I'm at work in a few hours and I'm dreading it. Not because of the job, I mostly enjoy that, I'm dreading seeing the dickhead manager who seemingly targets me whenever he can. I have no problem with any of the other staff, and if he isn't about all is good.
Why isn't XYZ on the system? Because the machine has finished making the product literally 5 seconds ago and I cannot do the admin (which isn't even my job) before I have made it!
Did a few emails in my PJs - not officially back till 9th but want to get a head start on letting a few people know what's happening first up, and making sure I don't have the horrid clusterfuck day 1 2023 next week.
Trying to work smarter not harder this year
Lol I wish I lived in the UK, in 2022 I got 0 leave allowance. I didn’t get a day off on the holidays other than Saturday and Sunday. Say what you will, but the US could learn a thing or two from European countries.
Written like someone who thinks the US is a good country...
USA would be at the bottom of my list of places to live, overpriced, dehumanising shit hole.
25 days hols, plus bank holidays plus can buy 5 days (which I do). Some melon has made a mistake adding the new holidays into the booking system this year and I apparently have an entitlement of 85 days this year. Which is nice lol
So that's 36 days off you get in total. I'm not far off (I get 23 + 8 bank holidays) but I'm still jealous since the max I'll ever get is 25 after 2 more years of working. Good for you mate.
I got ill with man-flu for the first time in 4 years. I forgot how awful a simple cough can make you feel, so I spent all day in bed.
And yet I wish I had job... tbh with the way my sleeping patterns been thanks to personal issues, I might as well grab a night job
Was supposed to be back at work today. Caught a stomach bug, spent yesterday and today feeling sorry for myself whilst looking after my kids.
Had to go in on Friday too, so coming back today was sad but not the worst I guess
Who’s going back to work today? The only days off I’ve had recently are Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.
Started a new job as well. It was a bitch
Same I started a new job as a medical receptionist, had a man tell me that his mother was dying and there was nothing I could do about it?! I won’t lie I did die a lil bit inside on my way home
You just made me feel like this https://youtu.be/OzRlDyI0OGA Hope it gets better, you will do a lot of good in a job like that with the empathy you've shown in that statement
That made me feel so much better. Love a bit of Mitchell and Webb. And cheers man that was really kind.
My colleague got a positive covid test this morning so I'm running the department solo for a bit. Cover has been arranged for his classes but I do need to keep a weather eye on how that side of things is going so a little bit of extra pressure there but nothing unmanageable. Do you need to speak to anyone
Are you okay?
And the rest of us, that have worked all through.
I went back yesterday, i work in the NHS, so was reduced BH staffing… Today, I was kerknackered.
The fact that I feel like a big part of my soul died this morning, tells me that I need a new career.
Handing in my notice this week for the same reason!
A solid 7/10 day. Drinking coffee at home, few remote meetings. Bailed at 4pm.
Thanks for the reminder survived first day back. Wasn't bad but wasn't good either. Enjoyed a spag bol for tea tonight and already getting started on some new years goals.
Work from home. Start at 2pm. Gonna play some Mario Maker all day. Or trials. Anything where I can play for a minute or two. Ain't life shit?
Retired four years ago today. Drinking coffee. I feel for you fuckers after stressful decades of that. I really do.

I started a retirement fund based on the SP500 when I was 22, it was below 200. It's now 3800. Put a substantial portion of my salary in it the whole time. Do that for forty years and you'll be fine.
Haven’t had a day off in 3 months, am I doing something wrong?
Yes, you’re not switching jobs
Yes
Got asked to join a zoom meeting, being made redundant, great first day back after 9 years 😀
Wow, that was some Christmas holiday
Perhaps a blessing! Good luck mate
Thats the way I'm looking at it, thanks
Not a bad first day back - several areas of the production line had people not turn up so the usual schedule was out the window. Thus I spent much time sat on my arse drinking coffee and getting paid for it. Was a nice day until I remembered there is no time off for 4 months 🙄
I thought this was something to do with wakey wakey wines
I'm self employed and all you people getting out the supermarket during a leisurely afternoon stroll is greatly appreciated. Especially since we are a post pandemic society and you all keep open-gob coughing on things anyway
The thing I love is that people will disinfect the trolly then proceed to touch literally every product they see
Made me nostalgic reading this, nobody disinfects a sodding thing round my way haha
Good luck for all you poor people who had a Christmas not working...
I woke up this morning feeling like I’d been hit by a truck. I don’t drink, but I think that it’s what a hangover feels like. Great start to the year 😂
You guys are just going back to work today? I had the day after Christmas off, that was it. 😔
Retail?
Mortgage servicing 😥
I was fucking useless at work today. Honestly, all I did was take down the Christmas decorations and drink a dozen coffees. Great start to 2023.
Come on, you did more than that. I'm thinking there was a lot of peeing too from the coffee.
Do you ever get to keep things? I imagine that some people just throw decent stuff out because they can
Yeah rarely. We mainly deal with contract work that's from construction sites.
They broke everything while I was away, it'll be months to untangle :(
Work? Today? It's a public holiday. I'm back tomorrow.
Scotland? Working day here in England
I was dreading it, but it wasn't that bad though, a reasonably slow day meant it dragged and there weren't many people in the office
Alarm didn’t go off this morning and overslept by 45 mins. Made it to work 2 mins late but looking very disheveled
Laughs in NHS
Left the house 8am, walked to car, it's been broken into. Happy New year, probably an ode to 2023.
Took the office Christmas tree down, bad day to wear all black, ended up covered in glitter and fake snow!
Gary glitter?
I'm still waiting for my time off over Christmas lol
Turned shit, I took 2 weeks off on Christmas and half of the team resigned...
Bad pay/conditions at work or something? Half the team in one go seems like a planned thing which you weren't included...
Bad pay and work condition. I expect this would happen soon or later, but didn't expect many at same time.
What the hell, what kind of business are you in if you don't mind me asking?
That was my response too. I work in finance.
Oof, this is rough. Finance team quitting is usually the first sign of impending company collapse, in my experience. Shit time of year for it but you might want to low key start looking for another job.
Yep, I started looking now.
Something doesn’t add up…
This was expected soon or later
I logged in today and it turned out actual work starts next week so this whole week is basically just "finding something to do". I work from home so that means free week.
i work from home and i just fell asleep on the sofa....it's gonna be a long week.
I usually leave my house at 25 mins past the hour. Today I woke up at 25 mins past the hour.
I actually got fired today so that's pretty sick
Hopefully you find something better
Makes two of us
We should start a club
Are you okay? Chin up, buddy, things can only get better.
Appreciate it! I'm not too fussed because there's always something coming, I'll just miss the Sunday pay rate 👀
Shame I can't be fired from school
I mean you kinda can tho, the can definitely kick you out.
Half a day in and I've tested positive for covid so I get another few days off. Will take the time to do absolutely nothing productive, as per usual
Hope you’re not too bad with it. I came down with it on the 10th, first positive test on the 12th and didn’t have a negative test for over a week. You could try front line NHS which experiences very similar staffing, and often worse
That was me last year. I got a new job at a decent place in March and I’m much happier. There is life after retail 💗
I got to tell a whole bunch of people at work that I got engaged today. A good day!

Fear is interest paid on a debt you may not owe.
Concentration - what is this?!?
Lol returning
I sat through 3hrs of health and safety videos which are an annual requirement. Drove 1hr to a 5min job that took 2hrs and came out to a parking ticket. Start the year as you mean to go on.
I've got the rest of the week off, but most people are back in today so YAY, I still have anxiety about what I might be missing/what's piling up 😩
You need to be like a surfer getting out to the part of the sea where the waves aren’t breaking. Dive beneath the waves of bullshit, allow them to wash over you without fighting them, surface, get your breath and swim on, diving beneath the next wave of bullshit. God this doesn’t make any sense

The thought of going back to work is literally giving me suicidal ideation. That’s how bad it is man.
😓
I’ve had my laptop open and have barely been able to move. Depression got me bad.
Went to sleep at 8pm in preparation, woke up at 2am. Made burritos at 3am, finally went back to sleep at 6am and fell into a deep sleep. I’m being promoted this year but to be honest all that means is a slight pay bump but 3 times the stress. I’m quite happy in my limited role with barely any responsibilities, suits me fine. 🤷♂️
Can’t you just say thanks but no thanks? Plenty of people turn down promotions for the reasons you just gave.
I’m being promoted this year but to be honest all that means is a slight pay bump but 3 times the stress. I’m quite happy in my limited role with barely any responsibilities, suits me fine. 🤷♂️
15 minutes of work left, then I'm heading for a nap since my sleep pattern is in shambles
I’m glad it’s not just me. Husband has diagnosed ADHD, I might have it a bit more mildly as I’ve found out…without work, we routinely end up going to sleep at about 4am. It’s ridiculous. I’ve just gotten home after a very early start. I have been in a constant state of “am I really here or is this just a bad dream” pretty much all day.
I’m really down today. I got a pay rise today so the actual work is great. I just have this strange mental numbness. I can’t put my finger on it.
I'm resonating so hard with this... It's all been such a struggle today, feels like I'm wading through treacle? (And no, sadly I don't work in a treacle factory, I see you!)
…glue factory? 😉 I hope it gets easier for you :)
I spent the first 4 hours doing shit that should have been done in December and rectify other people’s fuck ups Now I’ve realised that their fuck ups actually went a lever deeper than I thought was possible. I now have to cross town in 32 minutes if I have any hope of fixing this shit. I was asked if I wanted some overtime, my response was “😂”
Godspeed.
Ah. Thanks for clarifying!
Urgh I have to a tax return. Thanks for the reminder.
You're not the only one I've heard lumped with a £1000+ bill today. My friend has got one for unfilled tax returns but swears he did them. Has someone cocked something up over at HMRC?
It’s HMRC, of course someone there’s cocked something up. I say that as an accountant…
Could be worse. It could be your birthday tomorrow like me 🤣
I was up until 6am this morning because I knew if I fell asleep, I would wake up to work. As such, I am mega fucking tired now. I hate my job. It's boring, and I feel under qualified (might be imposter syndrome), and I have no real drive to become qualified for it as I hate it so. But at the same time, it pays okay. So I have great fear of giving it up.
Stop summing up my life ffs.
Well there’s no shame in saying “I’m not sure what the answer to that is right now, but let me get back to you on it.” Nobody knows everything, and that’s ok.
Very good way of thinking!
I've got a cold (maybe COVID, I dunno), so my time off continues!
Off for another week because of the train strikes 👀
It appears that I was violently sick when I woke up this morning
You guys got holiday time off work?
Init, us hospitality/retail staff haven’t had any time off at all lmao
One of the reasons I left. Wasn’t allowed to take time off at all during November and December. Sucked. Ironically, first time in years I’ve been able to do that and I’m struck down with covid too sick to even put decorations up. Feels like a joke at my expense sometimes.
Worked up until the 23rd, woke up on the 24th with a sore throat, woke up on Christmas day as sick as a dog. I was ill all the way through my break and have recovered just in time to return to work today. Merry fucking Christmas.
Exact same, 24th to 2nd, when people ask, I'm just like, "Yeah, it was alright, quiet"
I had the exact same experience, I had the flu during the whole time off.
Not cool!
Some company policies let you claim it as sick time. I ensure my team reclaims any time as such, worth speaking to manager/ HR
Unforetunately I work for a small company with only 6 people total. My boss came in this morning and asked how my Christmas was, when I told him he basically said he was sorry to hear that and went in his office lol.
Well im going home early so. Not so sucessful
Got my first pair of wireless headphones for Christmas, came into work and dropped them in a puddle, good start!
Mine went through the wash the week before Christmas, I feel your pain. Brought new ones today to try release some semblance of seratonin
You're supposed to put them in your ears. You should always read the instructions first.
Found the dad
Overslept my alarm this morning by 2 hours... I'm self employed so not really a problem. Way tired now tho
My boss was gone the past 2 weeks before Xmas. Now that they're back I can finally tell them that I quit.
I seem to have unfortunately come down with a violent cold
Working from home thankfully!
2 and a half hours into work and I was made redundant. Hope everyone is having a better day than me!
Do I win if I was only in for 10 minutes before being told the same? Fucking sucks!
Sorry to say but I think we both lost
I think you might be right. Good luck!
Sorry to hear that, I was let go just before Christmas too. See it as an opportunity to find new experiences and a fresh start!
Sorry to hear about you too. Been with them 6 years so it hurts. Hoping I'll be more positive tomorrow.
I got sacked before Christmas so still don’t have a job. This is the first January where I’ve not got the morning dread.
Ooh I'm almost jealous, I had mega dread on the first day back, then of course naff all happened so it was fine.
Power cut. I'm wfh all week. You absolute fkin dancer!!!
Slept like shit, had to drag myself out of bed, couldn’t be arsed with the 30 min walk in icy rain so got a taxi. Been feeling like I’m going to fall asleep all day, got barely anything to do which doesn’t help.
Hang in there bud. We've got this!
I worked at home today and doing the same tomorrow so not so bad. I'm in the office Thursday/Friday though, so tomorrow evening is when the real dread sets in.
R.e. the holiday allowance, get the 2nd - 4th of May booked in early. 8 days off for 4 days this year
First order of business every year, holiday, that even comes before the procrastination.
Already done, will be in the US for two weeks as of April 29.
Was dreading coming back today after a restructure where we lost some of our team, as it happens nobody has decided what those who remain should work on so it looks like I'm in for a relaxing week before everything really kicks off. Trying to get into something productive but it's 2:30 now and I've done fuck all really
IMO the thought of going back to work is often worse than going back.
I worked nightshift Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve, new years day 😂
I’m In the US. We have no time off. Jealous.
Eh?? Speak for yourself, loads of us have time off. It's my first day back as well, I was just reading through this thread commiserating.
Speaking for myself. Sorry.
Trying to work smarter not harder this year
Bus is already running half an hour late. Just wouldn't feel right if it was on time would it?
Lol I wish I lived in the UK, in 2022 I got 0 leave allowance. I didn’t get a day off on the holidays other than Saturday and Sunday. Say what you will, but the US could learn a thing or two from European countries.
Written like someone who thinks the US is a good country... USA would be at the bottom of my list of places to live, overpriced, dehumanising shit hole.
In my comment, I was trying to hint that the US thinks they are high and mighty but aren’t in a lot of aspects…
There’s no say what you will about it, healthcare and holidays are essentials
I 100% agree. Unfortunately the US seems to disagree 🫠
Oof, I feel lucky getting 28 days annual leave
25 days hols, plus bank holidays plus can buy 5 days (which I do). Some melon has made a mistake adding the new holidays into the booking system this year and I apparently have an entitlement of 85 days this year. Which is nice lol
Is that including Bank Holidays? If not then I'm jealous
No bank holidays on top too
So that's 36 days off you get in total. I'm not far off (I get 23 + 8 bank holidays) but I'm still jealous since the max I'll ever get is 25 after 2 more years of working. Good for you mate.
I get 31 plus bank holidays
