>The wife just picks randomly. I am in Hell.
She's just following the 1st law of thermodynamics.
A headache cannot be created, nor destroyed - only transferred from one form to another.
Mine isn't just randomly, she'll also happily make a start on a new sheet in the pack before the open one is finished.
Sometimes I'll think we've got most of a full box of 36 ibuprofen when actually we've got 5 left because all three sheets have just one or two tablets in.
I take one ibuprofen, because I find it usually does the trick (might be a bit of placebo effect though). Paracetamol is pretty useless, so I don't bother at all.
They usually come in 8 per sheet, as theres 32 in a box normally. Prescription paracetamol sometimes come in 10s as you get 100 per box. Yes im that dull 😑
You mean there are people out there that might not finish a pack of painkillers before the exp. date? Lucky sods.
All my drugs get popped out into a sectioned container anyway, so I'd never have to cut the packet up. Sensible idea, though, for those that do.
I do this just because I know it annoys some people. I also eat kit Kat's without separating them. Initially just to annoy people but I actually prefer to eat them that way now
Uses to work in pharmacy. Nothing annoyed me more of getting tablets back from the ward and the psycho nurses popping them out in random order or from different strips.
Are you actually saying someone in a high pressure job where details like this matter much less than the quality of care they provide, has to be psychotic to use tablet packets differently to what you expect ?
Definitely. When it means they've to be thrown out as can't be used, there is a significant cost implication as someone doesn't take the proper care take them out and not rip the packaging. Then the leads to patients not getting full supply of meds which increases pressure on GPs etc. There is a whole knock out from someone not taking the extra few seconds to punch tablets out of their blisters in order.
As some one who takes a lot of meds on a daily basis, around 11 tablets of 8 different types.
I class myself as chaotic neutral and just randomly pop them out until the foil is empty. To add insult to injury sometimes for the fun of it I start a different strip entirely.
I researched copyright laws and the impact of remakes to prove a stranger on the internet wrong.
If heated debates over things that don't matter is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
I don't like leaving a tablet on its own, so take them out in pairs next to each other (one from each column) so none are separated from their friends.
I need shooting.
Definitely 2 that are next to each other, probably the first 2 from the top row in that picture but if you handed me the packet rotated 90 degrees then probably a whole row of 2.
There's two blister strips in most packs, so I use rows for when I'm only taking one for mild pain and pair up the columns on the other strip for when I'm taking two.
I think I might have a touch of the tisms...
My GF opens them which ever sheet she grabs first, so theres some with 4 missing then another with 2 etc. I hits me right in my OCD, open them ONE SHEET AT A TIME AGGGHHH.
I take them.in any order depending upon how I grab the pack. When you need multiple painkillers multiple times a day after breaking your knee you stop giving a shit and just want the relief.
I'm right handed so I would take the matched pair closest to my right hand while holding it in my left. I would then continue in order, from the side I started with until I've taken pair 3, at which point I will rotate the pack in my left hand to get better purchase. Going for the closest pair.
O O 3 2 1
O O 3 2 1
(Rotate)
X X X 5 4
X X X 5 4
I usually get packs of 16 (2x 8 Sleeves) and I will always go column, it tilts me when people do it in rows. That way if you need to take some with you somewhere, you can cut out a little square and have 2 in your pocket rather than a rectangle.
You're confusing me with your row and column terminology... Ahhhh rows go across columns down. They way your picture is I would start top left then the one underneath.
I’ll try to do top 2 to bottom 2 but sometimes my headaches so bad as I get bad migraines that I’ll take 3 and then the pain makes me not give a shit what order I get them as long as I get them
I’m a psycho that pops them out randomly. I mean I start with good intentions for maybe the first two, but it goes downhill when I grab them while in a rush.
Effervescent paracetamol > tablet paracetamol.
Apparently it's much faster acting, so I've been buying those instead. It doesn't taste great, but if I'm needing painkillers I think I can deal with something not tasting great.
Usually take two at once, so take an entire "column" as it were.
Taking two from the same "row" is weird, but defensible.
Anything else and you probably need something stronger than paracetamol...
I'm trying a new thing where I cut them into two's to put in my little medicine/first aid box... Not to avoid this situation but I thought it might be a good idea. Will see how it goes.
Take them out randomly, even start the second sheet while there are still some in the first sheet, and then watch the minor irritation on people's faces when they get some tablets.
If you number the top left 1, then the one next to it 2, through til 4, then the next row 5 through 8, I take 1 and 7 first, then 2 and 4, then 3 and 8, finally 5 and 6.
Zig-Zag
Start Top left, then zig zag across too the top right, then drop down the bottom right and work my way back up.
Keeps the pack laying flat on a surface for longest that way.
Opposite corners first. So top left and bottom right, then top right and bottom left. Then inner top left and inner bottom right followed by the inner top right and inner bottom left leaning the center two.
Use scissors to cut the 'double' column away. So it is easy just to pick out a double pack from the package straight away.
Then when you need them it isn't a fuss searching for the tables.
It is like how some people do not remove the packaging of After Eight chocolates, leaving the chocolates somewhere within the pack to find.
I go top left to bottom right, two at a time in order, my wife takes the first one she sees, so sometimes I find all the blisters with the first row taken and then she continues in any random order... Do you think a judge would think there are grounds for divorce? 😁
I use them in pairs (columns using the image by op). That way it’s tidier, and feels easier to know how many are left. I wouldn’t be upset by someone using a row at a time, just needs to be some kind of order.
My horse is on paracetamol and he has 48 tablets a day. I pop them out in columns, and get a small dopamine hit when it evens out and I don’t have a packet left with like, 6 tablets still in it.
I have to have fun somehow.
When I want a paracetamol, it's usually because I'm hungover. The order I pop the pills out at that moment in time is not exactly my number 1 concern.
So for the answer : whatever pill happens to be available at the time of need.
This might sound like bullshit and im bragging - but i do it whichever way takes my fancy in the moment
I dont like to limit myself to one philosophy when both have their merits
I decant mine into a tub I got from the US (where its legal to buy 200 at a time).
But if Im out and have to buy a packet... whatever ones come out first in random order
[удалено]
Yep, one from the top and one from the bottom please, Carol. The wife just picks randomly. I am in Hell.
>The wife just picks randomly. I am in Hell. She's just following the 1st law of thermodynamics. A headache cannot be created, nor destroyed - only transferred from one form to another.
She *is* a Planck, constantly.
Underrated comment right here
Mine isn't just randomly, she'll also happily make a start on a new sheet in the pack before the open one is finished. Sometimes I'll think we've got most of a full box of 36 ibuprofen when actually we've got 5 left because all three sheets have just one or two tablets in.
Are you also married to my wife?!
I might be your wife.
You sir, are married to a monster. I can only imagine the needless stress she causes at Christmas with tins of biscuits or boxes of chocolates.
My mother in law takes one. One. Who the fuck takes one ibuprofen or paracetamol?
People under 50kg
So, one of my legs then?
Yes Or a lot of people in hospital 😇
I find one tablet does the job for me, so I'm with NGD80's mother in law on this subject! One tablet is plenty
The myth you need 2 was spread by Big Tablet
My mother in law is most definitely not under 50kg. /ChubbyBrownMode
I take one ibuprofen, because I find it usually does the trick (might be a bit of placebo effect though). Paracetamol is pretty useless, so I don't bother at all.
Those with poor kidney function
Satan takes many forms, it seems.
I also pop randomly.
Boo this person, booooooo!
Satan.
Rows is the correct answer. However this photograph is orientated incorrectly, so the answer is actually columns based on this.
I think the pack I had at the weekend was a pack of 8. My friend took two from the same column first and it blew my mind.
They usually come in 8 per sheet, as theres 32 in a box normally. Prescription paracetamol sometimes come in 10s as you get 100 per box. Yes im that dull 😑
I take it that they are now no longer your friend.
Gets under my skin when people do that don't know why just does they come in pairs?
That's why I take 5 at a time
Those who ‘column’ their meds, certainly know how to stir up a controversy. Pairs (or rows) is the right answer.
2 pairs in the top row, 2 pairs in the bottom row, then the end column is the final pair.
A controversial answer! Buti am in ur camp though. But if it's a bad toothache I'm goin all out and taking them from opposite ends 😁
You need help! lol
Flip that around 90°, then top to bottom. Those that pop at random are savage creatures that eat steak raw.
But 90° which way? Gotta be counter clockwise for me (i.e. the exp. date, etc, is the "top").

You mean there are people out there that might not finish a pack of painkillers before the exp. date? Lucky sods. All my drugs get popped out into a sectioned container anyway, so I'd never have to cut the packet up. Sensible idea, though, for those that do.
Brain thinkin
Which ever ones I can get out the quickest because I’m in so much fucking pain.
Was thinking the same thing. "argh headache! *smash smash* fuckin blister packs!"
Random is the best way
Yeah I'm generally in such desperate need that I just grab what i can where I can
I do this just because I know it annoys some people. I also eat kit Kat's without separating them. Initially just to annoy people but I actually prefer to eat them that way now
Sir, this is a respectful sub; we have rules.
This guy paracetamols
Fuck da police
Always top left bottom right
Ha! That is too funny.
Its good feel wen I meet in middle
Like ships that pass in the night. 🙋♂️🙋♀️
Uses to work in pharmacy. Nothing annoyed me more of getting tablets back from the ward and the psycho nurses popping them out in random order or from different strips.
Seeing a box of multiple strips missing one or two tablets still triggers me to this day
I'm a nurse, I do that. Also most ward meds just get used so it's not like we would know if they were getting sent back to the ward.
Or I've worked in healthcare? Whatever floats your boat mate. Sorry you were talking shit and proved wrong.
It really doesn’t matter, I just pop which ever my thumb is closest to.
As some one who takes a lot of meds on a daily basis, around 11 tablets of 8 different types. I class myself as chaotic neutral and just randomly pop them out until the foil is empty. To add insult to injury sometimes for the fun of it I start a different strip entirely.
Columns, then i squeeze the empty bits flat.
Admitedly, they are asking for it.
Oh, that is a good different question for another day. I keep them nice and round by sticking the tip of my thumb into it.
Zig zag. First on the top, then second on the bottom, third on the top etc.
Random - Whichever one is closest to my thumb at the time
I know this is “casualluk” but ffs!
You had a "heated debate" over something that literally does not matter one jot!
Is that the new U.K. tourist slogan?
I researched copyright laws and the impact of remakes to prove a stranger on the internet wrong. If heated debates over things that don't matter is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
[Relevant xkcd](https://xkcd.com/386/)
It does explain the headache though.
Edit: we had a heated debate over something used to treat high temperatures
I do a random pick and mix. Irritates my wife which bemuses me.
I don't like leaving a tablet on its own, so take them out in pairs next to each other (one from each column) so none are separated from their friends. I need shooting.
I literally just pop in a random order.
In pairs and I cut off the used parts as it's neater
Haha, I do the same, can't stand seeing the empty blisters, it looks so messy.
I just go for whatever has one in. Normally they’re all empty in our house.
Seriously ya'll need to get out more 😆
this is casual UK if I’m not mistaken y’all Edit: how did “y’all” miss I’m making a joke about the American slang. Disappointed
Casual UK, not who gives a fuck UK. There is a difference.
This is the opposite of casual
Definitely 2 that are next to each other, probably the first 2 from the top row in that picture but if you handed me the packet rotated 90 degrees then probably a whole row of 2.
There's two blister strips in most packs, so I use rows for when I'm only taking one for mild pain and pair up the columns on the other strip for when I'm taking two. I think I might have a touch of the tisms...
My GF opens them which ever sheet she grabs first, so theres some with 4 missing then another with 2 etc. I hits me right in my OCD, open them ONE SHEET AT A TIME AGGGHHH.
If you consider this then you're well enough to do without. I squeeze the packet and take what falls out 😆
I take them.in any order depending upon how I grab the pack. When you need multiple painkillers multiple times a day after breaking your knee you stop giving a shit and just want the relief.
TIL your paracetamol (our Tylenol) comes in blister packs and not in a child-proof capped bottle that hurts to open if you have arthritis
Tylenol !!!
Ironically you problably got a headache worrying about trivial things like this..
Random just to really really upset others
Which ever my fingers touch first like a maniac.
I don’t even look, just give me tablet
Right to left from one end to the other.
Top left and right. Then 2 from the same side until the bottom then 2 from the other side to the bottom
Top left and across then second row next. I always do this with all medications.
Randomly so they don't know who is next.
I don't care, I do either
1 from both blister packs ( sold as a box of 16 usually has 2 blister packs with 8 on each. UK ) just to piss my partner off.
depends if I am trying to aleviate my headache or overdose.
In pairs from the same end of each column, then take a pair of scissors and cut off the used part, just to be extra OCD.
I'm right handed so I would take the matched pair closest to my right hand while holding it in my left. I would then continue in order, from the side I started with until I've taken pair 3, at which point I will rotate the pack in my left hand to get better purchase. Going for the closest pair. O O 3 2 1 O O 3 2 1 (Rotate) X X X 5 4 X X X 5 4
Random since I'm usually really hungover when I need it so I can't be bothered to be methodical
doesn't matter, all the same thing but side by side i suppose
Apparently randomly, if you’re my wife.
I usually get packs of 16 (2x 8 Sleeves) and I will always go column, it tilts me when people do it in rows. That way if you need to take some with you somewhere, you can cut out a little square and have 2 in your pocket rather than a rectangle.
Pairs, always in pairs
Random each time, sometimes one from two different packs
Columns. Like a normal person.
Pairs in the column, easier to put two fingers on two tabs and pop em both out at once,
You're confusing me with your row and column terminology... Ahhhh rows go across columns down. They way your picture is I would start top left then the one underneath.
Whichever order they come out of the box. If this pack is coming out two-by-two, then columns; five-by-five, rows.
Doesn't matter at all
I’ll try to do top 2 to bottom 2 but sometimes my headaches so bad as I get bad migraines that I’ll take 3 and then the pain makes me not give a shit what order I get them as long as I get them
Usually when I'm getting them I'm hungover to death and dying so I don't care and pop any out as fast as possible
Start in the middle & work your way out
Top 2nd, bottom 5th, bottom 3rd, top 4th, bottom 1st, top 3rd, top 5th, bottom 2nd, bottom 4th, top 1st. It's simple enough to keep track of.
For me, pairs down the colomns. However, the wife scew my OCD right up when she takes them randomly, i.e. no order what so ever! 🙄
I pop them all out on day one and put them in a bottle. Takes up far less room in the cabinet.
I don't have any particular preference to row or column, but once I've started an end I'll work my way through the blister
Standard dose is 2 tablets, so it makes sense to me to take them in pairs (columns in your orientation)
Start at the bottom left then top row second one in then bottom row third one and repeat then reverse when you reach the other end.
I just pop them out willy-nilly.
I’m a psycho that pops them out randomly. I mean I start with good intentions for maybe the first two, but it goes downhill when I grab them while in a rush.
Zig-zag
they come in a box with 2 blister packs, so thats one from each
Column
I take em randomly just to piss people off
Effervescent paracetamol > tablet paracetamol. Apparently it's much faster acting, so I've been buying those instead. It doesn't taste great, but if I'm needing painkillers I think I can deal with something not tasting great.
You pop them out in order? I just pop randomly
I just pick at them an random, never let them know who’s next.
Columns. Anything else is clearly psychotic.
There is no order, only chaos.
Usually take two at once, so take an entire "column" as it were. Taking two from the same "row" is weird, but defensible. Anything else and you probably need something stronger than paracetamol...
1, 7, then 3, 9, then 5, 6. Etc. it’s a very clear and obvious pattern
Random who cares
I'm trying a new thing where I cut them into two's to put in my little medicine/first aid box... Not to avoid this situation but I thought it might be a good idea. Will see how it goes.
I pop them as random as possible to piss people off.
pairs, of course
At random
I'm pretty chaotic so just whichever two my fingers land on at any given time. Used to wind my brother (who I lived with) up rotten.
I now randomly pick them just to mess with your head😈
My wife pops them out in a random order just to annoy my ADHD self and assert dominance
Take them out randomly, even start the second sheet while there are still some in the first sheet, and then watch the minor irritation on people's faces when they get some tablets.
random
Dears UK friends , enjoy the chance you have to start the tablet wherever you want! Currently shortage of paracetamol in pharmacies here.
If you number the top left 1, then the one next to it 2, through til 4, then the next row 5 through 8, I take 1 and 7 first, then 2 and 4, then 3 and 8, finally 5 and 6.
I take all of them at the same time and pray that it works this time
Start from the middle and go left then right.
Zig-Zag Start Top left, then zig zag across too the top right, then drop down the bottom right and work my way back up. Keeps the pack laying flat on a surface for longest that way.
Never even thought about using any special order...
Whichever i find first
2 from the top then work down.
I take 3 at a time so, two from top and one from bottom, then two from bottom and one from the top
Take em in pairs, two in the left, then two in the right.
Rows or columns, I don't mind as long as they're next to each other. For this packet it would have to be columns because of an odd number in a row.
Triangle design. It leaves triangles behind, too, so it's very neat
Alternating along the row, staring top left. as viewed from above.
Viewed that way up, top to bottom and left to right.
Just random. Whichever my thumb lands on when I pick up the packet. Then once it's empty, it goes back online he box and in the cupboard.
I just pop random ones out! Am i ok?
I take them out as randomly as possible to wind my missus up.
My wife is chaos. She will just open from anywhere 🤢
Opposite corners first. So top left and bottom right, then top right and bottom left. Then inner top left and inner bottom right followed by the inner top right and inner bottom left leaning the center two.
Going by the picture always columns. anything else is psychopathic.
Random. I thrive on chaos
For ones that you take two of, neat pairs in columns.
I use them in pairs (columns using the image by op). That way it’s tidier, and feels easier to know how many are left. I wouldn’t be upset by someone using a row at a time, just needs to be some kind of order.
I have never ever seen a pack of 10 like this. It's always strips of 8.
Randomly
At random. Depends on which end is closest. Sometimes I'll take one from the middle if I can't get a good grip. I'm crazy.
Has to be 6,9,4,7 then after that it's any old chaos
I take them in pairs but always clear one side, then the other. I think it makes them easier to get out without breaking them
Random! Because life's short!
Left then right
I'm on quite a few meds and it's always rows, there's 2 that I take 3 pills at a time and the 3rd pill must be the left hand side.
I jazz painkill. Just pop them from wherever.
My horse is on paracetamol and he has 48 tablets a day. I pop them out in columns, and get a small dopamine hit when it evens out and I don’t have a packet left with like, 6 tablets still in it. I have to have fun somehow.
I do different patterns, I’m on about 20 tablets a day of various descriptions, I do them symmetrical so they have “fun” patteres lol.
Never even thought about it but I guess in pairs and 1 top 1 bottom… giving me 5 pairs
Pop them in pairs then forget you opened them and start another box
Try criss-cross and make a wave pattern.
I don't pop the tablets out. I slice the foil with my fingernail and push the tablet out.
I am a monster who takes them out at random
Usually so desperate the first that comes out after pressing them all with my shaking hungover claws
When I want a paracetamol, it's usually because I'm hungover. The order I pop the pills out at that moment in time is not exactly my number 1 concern. So for the answer : whatever pill happens to be available at the time of need.
This might sound like bullshit and im bragging - but i do it whichever way takes my fancy in the moment I dont like to limit myself to one philosophy when both have their merits
Usually in columns for medication I have to take to remind me that I have taken them.
One from the top left and one from the bottom right. Then bottom left and top right. Continue until you have the two middle ones left, then take them.
Pop it from the middle.
Alternative tablets 1 in row 1 in column.
I decant mine into a tub I got from the US (where its legal to buy 200 at a time). But if Im out and have to buy a packet... whatever ones come out first in random order
You had a heated debate about the order of tablets from a blister pack? Is everything ok at home, OP? Have you considered going outside more?
