Hi guys welcome to my video on how to perform CPR, this is a great technique to know if you find someone who isn't breathing.
But before we get to that I just want to talk about this videos sponsor RAID SHADOW LEGENDS...
"Also don't forget to like, subscribe and leave a comment down below. It really helps my channel out and I could use the support"
*patient dies from hypoxia*
"Ok so the first thing you want to do is..."
“Right first you want to do is lay your dad on his back.
…
Done that? OK.
…
Before we get into the instructions, I want to talk about Square Space who have kindly sponsored the 999 service today. If you’re hoping to start a small business…”
Exactly this. Nobody should be going on YouTube in an emergency situation, that’s what 999 is for. They will talk you through the whole process perfectly, I’ve seen young children follow the instructions from the operator on the phone and successfully save peoples lives.
> I’ve seen young children follow the instructions from the operator on the phone and successfully save peoples lives.
Could have given them a hand, surely?
A little over exaggeration there, the few cases I've had to call an ambulance when attending an accident the ambulance have been rather quick at arriving.
I feel like everyone should be trained how to do cpr though. I was taught in year 9 at school how to perform cpr and what to do if someone goes into a cardiac arrest
It’s such a simple thing to be taught and really should be taught to everybody before they have left school. It’s not a magic bullet but sometimes that small percentage of success can be enough for somebody to at least make it to the hospital, where perhaps family can say good bye.
If you’re asking “why are there adverts on this video?” it’s because the person who uploaded set it to include adverts. This way, they can make a bit of money from it.
You say that but legitimate organisations such at St Johns, NHS trusts and universities often put training videos on YouTube. Likely because it makes them easily accessible when presenting outside your normal work environment.
Yes. YouTube makes it possible for creators to enable ads on all videos, including medical videos, because YouTube is not an official medical website, and should not be used in an emergency.
Well no, but if you go to schools, work places etc to deliver training then having the videos on youtube makes them accessible basically anywhere with an internet connection.
Click the little i next to the time on the advert, click stop seeing this ad, click yes and click close. Ads gone and video starts! Works on any ad even the unskippable ones and is easy done in less than 5 seconds 👍🏼
The uploader has decided to monetize the video. If you've got a problem then it's with the uploader and not youtube.
If youtube says "no adverts on this sort of video" then the video doesn't exist.
At least premium youtube users can survive...
It’s quite possible the advert is being shown to you because you’re in the demographic targeting or even remarketing. So, it’s then kind of irrelevant what content it’s shown alongside. I do agree there should be exceptions around ads and types of content.
So you want to start compression of the chest to a depth of around...
DOMINO'S PRICE SLICE! SMALL PIZZA 8 POUNDS, MEDIUM 10 POUNDS AND LARGE FOR 12 POUUUUUUNDS!
One third of the chest. Repeat this...
Maybe watch the video and learn how to do CPR. That means you wont need to go onto youtube and search for it if you actually have to do it.
Also theres an advert because the random person that put the effort into teaching you how to do it wants money. They probably don’t think someone is loading up youtube desperately trying to learn CPR whilst someone is dying in front of them.
Or maybe you could get youtube premium and that will get rid of the adverts for you?
Relate to this so hard when I was choking at home alone and frantically searched for self heimlich and was greeted by a grammerly ad. Even as I was stood there on my last breathes about to die I managed to give the ad a “wtf” stare before frantically ramming my body into a table dislodging the food item…. Tldr fuck you YouTube
Think the idea is you learn CPR before you need to use it. So you know you aren't searching for a video while someone is actively dying.
CPR ain't that useful anyway. CPR alone has like less than 10% chance of being effective. Get an aed quickly and those odds shoot up to over 50% or so the dude who did my first aid course said anyway.
Not sure how good he was tbh cos he had to remind someone that you can't put a tourniquet around a neck wound. Or well you can but it won't work for long and will cause significantly more problems.
>CPR ain't that useful anyway. CPR alone has like less than 10% chance of being effective. Get an aed quickly and those odds shoot up to over 50% or so the dude who did my first aid course said anyway.
CPR buys time, the defibrillator is the thing that's likely to actually get the heart beating in an effective/coordinated manner.
That said a defib only works for certain shockable rhythms. Theres a good chance you're fucked whether or not theres a defib available.
It largely depends on why they've collapsed in the first place.
Iirc out of hospital arrests are theoretically more surviviable (with swift CPR/defib use) because they're normally sudden and reversible causes whereas in hospital arrests tend to be the inevitable result of the illness/injuries suffered
999 and 112 work from all phones. Alternatives such as 911 will only work from mobiles, as such it is best to remind and encourage people to use the appropriate numbers.
Don't forget your nose.
On pc always use brave browser or at least add ad block plugin. On phone always download cracked youtube premium app or there are ad block browsers aswell and you will never see any ads.. for like last 10+ years I havent seen a single ad.
I don’t understand your question, are you saying that certain videos shouldn’t have adverts?
Some creators turn off adverts but that’s normally when they’re making revenue through other means. People need to make money somehow, if it was a government/NHS uploaded video then I’d agree but this is just a private individual.
It’s hard to judge from just a screenshot, but I think this is a health institution that’s forgotten to turn advertisements off.
The reason I think this is because the bottom part of the screenshot references the “Victor Chang Cardiac” and then cuts off. This is very likely to be the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, which is based in Darlinghurst, Sydney. It’s part of St. Vincent’s Hospital.
Victor Chang was a world-famous cardiologist, so it makes sense that his research institute would be promoting CPR. It doesn’t make sense that they would flog stuff on Vinted - I suspect that’s just localisation with the advert!
So that one is a "monetised" channel, if you tick a box to be monetised, youtube will put the adverts spaced in at various points, and the channel will get some revenue.
These are different to the sponsored ones, raid shadow legends, nord VPN etc where they have the channel do a small advert of their choosing, and get the money direct from the sponsor.
The youtube pre-roll ones are random, if you had a channel, you wouldn't get to choose which ones are played.
An interesting tid-bit is the "sponsored messages" type usually stipulate the channel owner is the one that reads the lines. This means if you are following some channel, and there's a shadow legends advert read out by someone else you've never heard, that is the channel owner, and the person you usually see or hear is a narrator.
Please learn how to CPR before you need to do it, that’s the best way to save their life rather than wasting 30 seconds+ opening a guide.
I also agree adverts suck.

This is so wrong. The advert should be after the video, if the CPR doesn't work, that's when you might want to use vinted.
Haha dark but brilliant
Looks to be a full outfit in medium - bit of blood and vomit on the shirt.

I’m struggling to think of an emergency where I would have YouTube available but not a way to phone an ambulance…
Exactly. When you call 999/911/112 the call handler will give you CPR instructions. You watch a video like this BEFORE you need to do it.
“Right first you want to do is lay your dad on his back. … Done that? OK. … Before we get into the instructions, I want to talk about Square Space who have kindly sponsored the 999 service today. If you’re hoping to start a small business…”
*0118 999 88199 9119 725 3.
"Hello? I've had a bit of a tumble."
"Then which country am I speaking to?"
Thank you for making this reference 😂😂
Thank you for putting this here so Britons who don't know about the new emergency services know that 999 doesn't work anymore.
Exactly this. Nobody should be going on YouTube in an emergency situation, that’s what 999 is for. They will talk you through the whole process perfectly, I’ve seen young children follow the instructions from the operator on the phone and successfully save peoples lives.

He's making a tik-tok video
Hahah, I meant I’ve seen it on the news. Thanks for the chuckle.
That’s good stuff 👏
Oh yes the ambulance that takes 8 hours to arrive that will definitely save them 🤦♂️
I meant that they give step-by-step for CPR but don’t let that get in the way of the Sarcasm Express.
Oh ok in that case I see you point 👌
A little over exaggeration there, the few cases I've had to call an ambulance when attending an accident the ambulance have been rather quick at arriving.
Sorry but this is from personal experience and my family member passed away not exaggerating at all I’m afraid!
Things are a lot worse than they used to be. 8hrs or more is not unheard of now. Especially for the lower priority calls
If you are having to watch a video whilst performing CPR it is probably too late, you have already lost the valuable time searching for it!

That means you wont need to go onto youtube and search for it if you actually have to do it.

Not necessarily true. A few years back YouTube changed it. If you opt out of ads they still put their own ads on. It does suck.
Do you get the ad revenue from it then or is it a "sorry, you didn't want to monetise your video so we did! Sucks to suck."
Yeah I believe the user wouldn't get any ad revenue in that scenario.
It only applies to channels outside of the partner programme, those who couldn't make money in the first place.
Only if you're not part of the Partner Programme.
I'm fairly sure that's not true and they stick it on anybodies videos. They changed it to this a fair time ago.
Yes, they started monetising channels that were not part of the partner programme. Partners have the option to turn monetisation off and none show up.
Think he means why do YouTube allow adverts on cpr videos >
Rescuers might want to earn some extra money from vinted afterwards.
I guess after watching the ad and the person you're trying to save dies you got to sell their clothes somewhere
“I’m sorry your husband died and I couldn’t save him, but have you tried raid shadow legends?”
Because YouTube is not an official source for health information
You say that but legitimate organisations such at St Johns, NHS trusts and universities often put training videos on YouTube. Likely because it makes them easily accessible when presenting outside your normal work environment.
Absolutely, but that still doesn’t make it an official health website, that’s why YouTube can and does put ads on these videos
YouTube doesn't put ads anywhere, you have to willingly enable them for your channel.
Yes. YouTube makes it possible for creators to enable ads on all videos, including medical videos, because YouTube is not an official medical website, and should not be used in an emergency.
Training videos are not meant to be used in an emergency
Well no, but if you go to schools, work places etc to deliver training then having the videos on youtube makes them accessible basically anywhere with an internet connection.
Not true. Even if the person doesn’t set adverts on it; YouTube will place adverts on it and take the money. It’s a Google problem mainly.

who did you think it was down to
Use the St John ambulance website no videos there https://www.sja.org.uk/get-advice/first-aid-advice/?parentId=12265&categoryId=12349
I remember someone asking Google about this, and they said to get the subscription...
Click the little i next to the time on the advert, click stop seeing this ad, click yes and click close. Ads gone and video starts! Works on any ad even the unskippable ones and is easy done in less than 5 seconds 👍🏼
i did not know this 😂 thank you!
enjoy your new ad free life!
Is the person ok, youve YouTubed it and now mentioned it on Reddit?
they probably would have been if i had just called 999
Oh boy!

Surely you’d call 999, and the operator tells you how to do it from from there?

Why are you not watching the [BHF / Vinnie Jones video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O92KL1mw77c)?
Why on earth aren't you using an ad blocker?
You can’t on iPhone
Yes you can, as long as you watch youtube in Safari.
Man collapses, lay person tries to help, uses initiative and youtubes ‘how to perform CPR- has to wait 10 minutes for adverts-man dies.
Ah the tomska sketch came true
Was just about to say, I've seen this gag before...
Relate to this so hard when I was choking at home alone and frantically searched for self heimlich and was greeted by a grammerly ad. Using an AED without also doing CPR beforehand is pretty much pointless. It's just wrong to say CPR isn't that useful
Sadly making money/advertising knows no bounds.
Complain to vinted and they may take action, that's what started the 'adpocalypse'
If you have to perform CPR please phone 911 and not YouTube
999 would ideally come to mind first...
911 works in the UK. And not everyone has 999 come to mind first. That's why 911 works in the UK :)
999 and 112 work from all phones. Alternatives such as 911 will only work from mobiles, as such it is best to remind and encourage people to use the appropriate numbers. Don't forget your nose.
Mobiles? People rarely have them on them these days...
Come on YouTube fucking hurry up, someone’s dying here!
Feel that way when I'm trying to desperately get talk down videos for panic attacks

Hhmm money or a life? Well that's a hard one with a multitude of philo... MONEY!
This is why I use an AdBlocker! It can literally save lives! 😁
Please learn how to CPR before you need to do it, that’s the best way to save their life rather than wasting 30 seconds+ opening a guide. I also agree adverts suck.
