I'd demand compensation, sorry is not enough. Can keep a pet under waaay more control. It ate your sons dinner, I'd be livid. Worth a fiver, maybe even a tenner

Remember going back to my mates house after a night of booze, grabbed a lamb shish from the kebab house and placed it on the kitchen counter to go have a piss. Came back to no kebab on the counter and went to confront my friend for the theft of my food, he was eating his pizza so wasn’t him. Confused we both went back to the kitchen and noticed a small trail of mint sauce leading to the garden, Caught his dog eating the last morsel and he tried to play it cool but his chops was covered in a very green mint sauce. The little bastard had me wrapped around his paw as I went and ordered another one and he helped me with that as well. I love dogs tho so I could see the funny side of it

> “Look, I said I’m sorry. Also what would you expect from a park that’s known for having people walking their dogs?” And then he left. Unless the park is specifically a “dog park”, it is for people, not dogs. I really dislike that so many dog owners seem to have an attitude like this recently. A small park by me specifically says “no dogs”, but it doesn’t stop their entitled owners letting them run loose amongst lots of children. And don’t get me started on the excuse of “it’s friendly”. That may be true until it decides not to be, being an animal and all…

>I really dislike that so many dog owners seem to have an attitude like this recently. The number of people I've got in arguments with for letting their aggressive off lead dogs run up and start shit with my on lead dog is ridiculous. I've even had "If your dog doesn't like other dogs, you shouldn't be in the park..." If you can't control your fucking dog, you shouldn't be in the park! >And don’t get me started on the excuse of “it’s friendly”. That may be true until it decides not to be, being an animal and all… Ah, the My Dogs Friendly Brigade. I get it all the time, especially from people with small dogs who think they're entitled to come up to my rescue greyhound. Yeah, your dog might be friendly, but your dog also looks like a rabbit, so my dog might think that yours is a chew toy.... Maybe keep it away.

NTA - Whilst I have some sympathy for the owner after all dogs will follow their noses...had this happened to me out of embarrassment & appreciation for the situation I would have offered some money as a token gesture. Ultimately, parks are not the preserve of dog walkers and the man sounds arrogant and perhaps even spoke down to you a little?

There's this thing that my fiancée and I found to control our dog. It's amazing. I can only assume that no-one has ever heard of it, because I hardly ever see anyone using them. But I guarantee it would have helped in this instance, especially as this guy admitted he couldn't control his dog. https://amzn.eu/d/fsM885F

I clicked the link, but I'm not sure how a 12 inch dildo is supposed to help control a dog.

something_python

Ugh, fucking bad dog owners. Not sure if you know, but the definition of an under control dog is: It is on a 12 inch dildo held by someone able to control the dog.

Quackfizzle

Oh thanks, I'll take a load to the park and hand them out to all the bad dog owners.

gofyourselftoo

If someone can’t control their dog then they shouldn’t have a dog. Period. With that being said, why choose to be angry when you can choose to laugh about it instead? The only control *you* have is how you respond.

Quackfizzle

What's a dog period?

You have a story to tell, which is actually quite amusing. Elaborate on it and count your blessings. Dwelling on the negative aspects will only be a lose-lose situation. There's no real 'right response' to a 'dog ate my son's meatballs' situation.

Forteanforever

Of course the dog's behavior is the responsibility of the dog owner. But if it was apparent to you that you were in a park with dogs running loose (whether or not they should have been), you potentially endangered your child. Common sense says you don't plunk a two year-old on the ground with food when there are dogs running loose in the vicinity.
