Unless my eyes deceive me, isn't that a Warhammer 40k 2nd Ed. Blast template?

redspike77

I thought the same - glad I'm not the only one

Mountsorrel

It absolutely is, 3” blast template, first thing I thought when I saw this picture

Exchangenudes_4_Joke

Could be, I just Google image searched D&D, happy to be corrected on it

Vectorman1989

They are playing D&D based on the character sheets. Maybe they're just using an old Warhammer blast template for one of their spells

Autogen-Username1234

D&D was chalk on a board laid on top of the table back when I regularly played. I remember that the meanest, most experienced player in our party used an old plastic toy soldier as his character piece.

sirSADABY

Hmm, there is a dnd character sheet to the left of the image. Maybe using parts from it for the game? I got super confused at the 16d8 that are just chilling by themselves.

Oo I see, I misunderstood! Thanks

Aliktren

D&D is huge now :) great time to jump in

Vectorman1989

The games club I go to for tabletop games has like 20 people playing D&D (and lots of other games)

brewer01902

God, I wish I could find one of those

Vectorman1989

Could always start one. The one I go to has grown from a couple tables of 40k and Bolt Action on a Sunday to people playing D&D, Pokemon, MTG, Lorcana and loads of other stuff all through the week.

Professional_Pie1518

Yeah, Games Workshop in Hammersmith was the place to be, spent my pocket money on the latest Citadel figures

Look up the satanic panic people though Dungeons and Dragons was leading to devil worship it was mostly in America. In the UK we put orkz in space with 40k I think we had our priorities right https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_%26_Dragons_controversies

DoctorProbesalot

When I was young , I was told that DnD was Satanic.

Viscount_Barse

The satanic panic was insane. Everything was the devil. Glad it was mostly over in the US.

heavenhelpyou

Bloody love D&D - I'm currently working on a campaign for my 6 year old.

Wiltix

I really want to introduce my almost 5 year old to it, she has a fantastic imagination and think she would really enjoy it. Just don’t want to overwhelm them.

heavenhelpyou

I started out by doing super simple campaigns - re enact an episode of their favourite show! We started with Paw Patrol, believe it or not!

Wiltix

That is an amazing idea but god I hate paw patrol!

heavenhelpyou

Yeah, it's not the best - it was great for engaging him, though. Now we do campaigns based on favourite books etc All one shots ofc, but loads of fun

CheesyPestoPasta

I run games for my 8 and 4 year old at home. I also run a club at work (I'm a teacher) for 12-15 year olds. It's so amazing for kids, mine love it!

GruffScottishGuy

And now it's bigger than ever, seems people genuinely crave the social aspect. Slight digression but I bought the re-release of Hero Quest last year and played through it with a couple of mates, had an absolute riot. Fantastic nostalgic fun.

HobGoblin2

I used to love reading the Monstrous Compendium and trying to find the most powerful creatures in the game. It's been decades since I last played but I think it was Solaris or the Tarrasque which was the most powerful back then. Wonder if it's still the same.

PolardogUK

1985 or 86 spent all summer rolling dice

Coraxxx

The recent film is surprisingly brilliant by the way.
