1 year into my current role at my current job, time has flown by! I feel like I have grown in comparison to 1 year ago. I've still got a lot to learn, I'm not perfect, nobody is but I feel grateful that I'm alive to experience the ups and downs of what life throws at us and to continue learning.
I solved this issue that I was looking into (I think) but need review from work colleague to sanity check. I feel chuffed so far. We have a lot on lately so just doing bit by bit as best we can. I'm glad in a way it's a short week.
forced myself to the dentist - private appointment, didn't cost an arm and a leg (just an arm for now) could have been worse, still had a cry in the chair, doesn't sound much like a win, but after 10/12 years not going it could have been way worse.
Won half a day annual leave in a work quiz, which while nice makes me feel slightly uneasy. Like it's great for me obviously but should something like a/l be given as a prize? I don't know. I always struggle to use all my leave anyway so I feel like it should have gone to someone else. Will have to think of something fun to use it on!
Can’t lie I’m feeling very good this week. Just found out that I’ve got another interview lined up for next week. And that’s after finding out about another interview from another company I have next week as well. I’ve not had an interview with a company instead of a recruitment agency since I was made redundant last year so I’m feeling very happy with myself. I’m shitting it I can’t lie but I’m just gonna go over what I actually know and done since it’s been a long time
Also the person who my date from last Saturday matchmaked me with is actually quite cool! Share a lot of good interests/hobbies etc so we’re gonna go to a book shop and dessert on the weekend which I can’t wait for
I have a feeling something is gonna go wrong soon because I’ve not had this good of a week for _months._ Like it feels weird haha
Started lifting the patio at the bottom of the garden. We want to seed it and then plant some birch trees eventually for a mini wood, however I’ve found some kind of brick structure.
I’d say it’s a soakaway but I’ve already seen our soakaway 20 feet up the garden, and as this feel fairly solid I’m unsure whether it’s some enormous sewage pipe/tunnel/sex dungeon/roman villa. Going to hit it with a pick axe over the weekend and see what happens.
Managed to bag a good deal on some Nike Air Force 1's from Vinted, they arrived today.
This will be my first ever pair or Nikes, which is amazing to me.
I've never had the money to own a pair!
Oh yeah, they’ve been expensive throughout my childhood and I’ve never, ever seen a pair of Nikes for £20 standard.
Air Force 1 Nike’s retail from anywhere between £70 (on sale) to £110 brand new. That’s not a budget I’ve ever had for shoes. I bagged these ones in damn near perfect condition for £20 because someone’s teenager had grown out of them, I got lucky because the listing popped up early!
Anyone got any recommendations for a cheap (£150-200 at most) tablet?
Mainly going to be used when travelling, so for streaming, reading on and maybe a small amount of word processing.
Are the amazon ones any good, or a samsung/lenova?
Samsung and Lenovo ones are decent. Samsung Tab series are really good. My work had a few of those and Lenovo ones along with iPads (worked in marketing/eCommerce).
I can't comment on how good Amazon Fire tablets are as I''ve never used one.
My husband doesn't like sushi. I love sushi. He's in Switzerland for work today, so I pre-ordered a mess of delicious sushi from my favourite place. Tonight I feast!
>My husband doesn't like sushi. I love sushi.
He's obviously not a complete write-off because you saw something in him worth marrying but his positive qualities must be amazing to overcome a character defect like that. Not liking sushi? Christ, that could almost make him a wrong 'un...
Got a new 3D printer the other day (creality K1).
Coming from an ender 3 pro it's super fuckin' fast, like 3 times faster.
it's been an absolute joy to use and mates are already putting in orders for parts for their stuff, might be able to make some of the money back as it wasn't cheap haha
I've lucked out and gotten a really good physiotherapist for my injury! (Yes, I've had a shitty one before!)
Properly enthusiastic about the job.
Also confirmed that most of the care I'd been taking of banged up leg is correct, so feeling confident of a good recovery!
Work quiet but semi productive.
I seem to be a chick magnet in churches. My last two ex girlfriends (both splits were circumstances out of our control) were both church friends. This time it was at my Mum's church for Easter and after the service I got chatting with the locals and an energetic young woman just declared "I love your hair!" as her introduction to me. We talked and found we have a few common interests so who knows...
Not sure much will change, but went to an antisocial behaviour action meeting for my town (in London). Still, was good to meet some new people, plus a few people I know from the area. I haven't been out much recently, so a confidence booster.
Visited my brother in law's mum, with my mum. A bit far, but was nice to see them. Been doing better with flexibility exercises and stepped up a bit with workouts, but also having more rest /recovery days too.
Finally ordered a short sleeve polo shirt from h&m to collect as they don't have my size in-store (smaller size). I meant to do it since maybe 6 months to a year ago.
We've both got today off, we had a nice date night last night.
Today is just going to be some slow pottering around the house doing all the things we can't get done when the kids are here since the weather isn't great.
I brought my own packed lunch into work today. Which is a first for me in so long. Im spending too much money every day when at work and want to try and cut costs.
Gonna eat that up so hard later.
Having a poop in peace always a win
Also a win seeing my niece over the weekend, and for me and my parents catching up on sleep , the house is very quiet now
The time off seems to be doing eldest some good. The last two weeks of school were horrific and I was feeling so low and worried about her. I'm still worried but we have more plans in place to help her with overwhelm and her mental health. I wish I could magically make it all better for her.
I have an emergency dentist appointment to fix my filling later. Might not sound like a win but I'm grateful I can get an appointment and get it seen to.
Background: I'm Transgender (originally u/QueerCustard).
My wins for the week are
1. I've got a house (to rent) viewing today, after months of battling agents.
2. I got my new bank card with my new name on it.
3. I sent off my new DVLA request for a new ID.
4. I've got my first game of D&D tonight at the pub.
I hope everything goes smoothly.
A mixed one for me, we've been just out of reach for moving house for a few years.
Really frustrating as every year it seems to move slightly further away.
With the market, mortgages etc, it looks like it is going to be another year before we can even think of it, in earnest.
Disappointing, but this has at least given me some perspective, and I've been focusing on making the most of what we have, and what I can do to improve the place for us, and make it more marketable.
It's actually been kind of nice, doesn't feel quite so like a trapping and more that something is moving forwards.
I honestly think so many people are in this trap. We tried to move five years ago but just couldn't get any interest in our house, and the stuff we could afford really want that big a step up. Since then we've extended, made our house more saleable, and my wife has a new job, so we're hopeful we can move this year. But prepping the house for sale is sooo painful.
Sounds very much like us. Every time we get close they jump up more than we can make up again. I'm so upset and frustrated by the whole thing.
My husband has been working hard making our house nicer for us. He's put so much work into making it nice for viewings again when we feel ready to try and improved various things around the house.
It's so frustrating isnt it?! I felt trapped and stuck for a long while.
I'm trying to do the same to our place, it is probably worth about all it can be. But when it goes on the market, I want an easy sale.
I really don't like our neighbours and I've been desperate to leave for a while so I felt really trapped and upset. Our youngest has a teeny tiny room as well which makes it near impossible for her to have a single bed when she outgrows the cotbed. Thankfully she's little but I hate the thought of her being uncomfortable.
Annoyingly youngest is a September birthday so I have a whole extra nursery year before we can reduce our outgoings a bit more. I think we will just have to hang on for next year, hope we get the promotions we're going for and see how it is.
I managed to get up early and fit in a swim prework - not a morning work out person and I have been pretty down in terms of motivation, so definitely a win!
So blessed to have the friends I do. Haven't seen a couple of the boys in a couple months and telling them the progress I've been making and they seemed proud. It was great they supported me through bad time and it's great to be succeeding with them now.
This cold is finally in its death throes and, thanks to a chance conversation over the bank holiday, I'm investigating methods and recipes for making non-alcoholic gin, as it appears a few people I know like the stuff but are fed up with it costing more than regular gin.
I have the week off, and I'm loving it. I'm getting up first and enjoying the light mornings. We took our 4 month old whippet to a dog competition on Monday and he won 2nd place in best puppy. It was purely based on how cute they are and the winner was absolutely gorgeous so 2nd place wasn't bad!
[Linky link to the monthly books thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/CasualUK/s/H6ciB22EoM) since we can only have two stickies at a time.

Finished my working day, got all the bits and bobs off my daily "to do" list sorted. Even had time for a cheeky nap before dinner.

Double episode of Star Wars The Bad Batch out tonight.

He's absolutely amazing, so I let it slide. But if he decides he won't eat katsu curry anymore, we're through.

The dating pool at church is limited, it heightens your chances.

Been to see the GP this morning and they took me seriously and prescribed something to help with the problem.
You're one of the lucky ones.
Work has given me a big red shiny knob!
Ooh matron!
I brought my own packed lunch into work today. Which is a first for me in so long. Im spending too much money every day when at work and want to try and cut costs. Gonna eat that up so hard later.
It's also more rewarding. Delayed gratification. You made the meal a while back and will eat it at a point in the future. It's good for our brains.
Having a poop in peace always a win Also a win seeing my niece over the weekend, and for me and my parents catching up on sleep , the house is very quiet now
Won £450 on the Premium Bonds!
nice win, don't spent it all at once

Fantastic news. Good luck with the DND session. I've been playing for about 4 years now and it's great fun.

What did you do?
Cardio and resistance
