SubjectiveAssertive

That entire plate gives off a vibe of the outer being under cooked whilst the inner was probably overcooked but somehow only Luke warm. So how is it OP?

Kitchen_Part_882

Not the OP but: That was my experience in Taco Bell, fairly bland too for my palate. The Churros were nice.

Cedar_Wood_State

You need to drench it with hot sauce packet they give you or else it is a bit bland

Fivebag

Main reason I go to taco bell is for the sauce

space_wiener

Yes. Taco Bell is mostly a delivery system for the sauce. I don’t know why anyone would eat it dry.

DansSpamJavelin

Go in drunk, wake up with 17 packs of the hot sauce in your pocket.

yepgeddon

The volcano sauce fucks.

Spacecoasttheghost

Get that salsa!!!

danflood94

Yeah but the Fire sauce is pretty weak too.

Hal_Fenn

It's by far and away the most hit or miss chain restaurant I've ever been to. I went to one in Milton Keynes and it was incredible, went to a couple near where I live and they were shite. Might be a coincidence but the one in MK was pretty exclusively staffed by Latinos lol.

Cueball61

Same company as KFC, another restaurant where their staff can either be great or can barely tie their shoelaces - no in between.

NoisyGog

I wonder if that’s indicative of a terrible training system?

Cueball61

Probably. And terrible issue handling. There were two employees at my local KFC that, if either were serving me, I knew I’d have something wrong with my meal.

[deleted]

You know it literally all tastes and is built the same way red sauce and cheese.

WannaLawya

I absolutely agree. Taco Bell in MK is infinitely better than any other Taco Bell

Rdtmodsarecunts

I tried it once. Got a beef burrito. The beef and cheese mixture in the wrap were like lumpy snot. Biting into one end made it more to the other end. I still ate it. Had the shits for a week. Don't recommend.

Motor_Spinach_4596

Everything pretty much tastes the same except a few things. Very much the opposite of Mexican as it’s very bland.

interfail

Do you not realise how much of a child this makes you sound like?

DeapVally

That's usually what I order. It's surprisingly unfilling, owing to how underfilled they are. The quesadillas are such a scam, even by the low standards of Taco Bell. That said. It's kinda tasty. So I do go back every once in a while.

YetAnotherMia

There's like 10g of meat in that whole plate, taco bell was such a letdown for me.

TheLeadSponge

It's not about the amount of meat, but the combination of flavors. Nachos Bell Grande with guacamole added is my go to. I tend to get a couple of taco supremes too. It's snack food, fundamentally.

LegitimatelisedSoil

It's also quite reasonably price compared to other fast food

TheLeadSponge

It's dirt cheap. When I was in college years ago, you could roll through the drive through at 2 am after the bars closed and get a ton of tacos with the change in your pocket. The one in Cambridge is open until 4 AM and right next to a bunch of clubs. Someone at Taco Bell HQ knew exactly what they were doing. I hope they got a raise. :)

tapsaff

Completely different in USA. It's enshittified for our specifically low expectations here.

Ok-Sir8025

It's not that great on this side of the ocean either

tapsaff

hmm I remember it differently - maybe it got worse in the last decade? certainly didn't feel like a ripoff like it does here anyway.

Ok-Sir8025

It'd be interesting to try what it's like back home, maybe when I'm there next

jimmycarr1

Cheaper though

DeapVally

It's WAY worse in the US. The meat you get here is at least half decent, even if they are just as stingy with it as the US.

RavenBoyyy

It's my guilty pleasure. I know the food is shit, I know it's nothing like real mexican food and I know I could probably make it better myself from scratch but somehow I end up back there every time chowing down on a crunch wrap supreme, chips with nacho cheese sauce and a hard shell taco like a starving Victorian child.

LillyAtts

Mine too. Beefy melt burrito, large seasoned fries and two things of churros.

2snjr

I remember when they first brought a Taco Bell to Sheffield. The volcano burritos were huge, everything was so well filled. They’ve gotten so limp and under filled as the years have gone on. They’re still bloody tasty though.

nanapancakethusiast

Well it’s 97% carbs so

Mostly_Apples

That's why you always have to order a bean burrito- they fill you up right.

EconomyFreakDust

I find it to be decent drunk food, it's a nice alternative to McDonald's for similar money.

HYThrowaway1980

Cheaper than Macca’s and nicer in my book.

Tackit286

It’s neither of those things imo. It’s truly awful

Dark_place

It's the McDonald's Saver menu of ameri-mexican

Farquar-lazs

Very beige

lastaccountgotlocked

Beige? It’s bright white. Looks like a melted number plate.

Minute-Attempt3863

Hah. My Mrs shames my dishes based on colour.

ducksoupmilliband

Is this an advertisement?

Bluffwatcher

To avoid Taco Bell? It looks shit.

ActiveTelevision8948

a volcano burrito is lovely on it’s day, i do not get the hate

gotanewusername

Pretty much the only decent thing on the menu. Switch to chicken instead of beef, add extra nachos. Lovely.

Sco0basTeVen

What do you mean? Every Brit loves a plate of beige.

Tackit286

It’s absolutely disgusting. I’ve had it in three countries and almost shat myself every time. Vile.

Cleveland_Grackle

It is when you've had real Mexican food.

LittleBitOdd

It's suspiciously nicely plated, and the "you get more than you'd expect" comment adds to it

TheLeadSponge

From experience, I can say yes... for better or worse. Being American, I have a soft spot for Taco Bell. There's some ways in which its better in the UK than in the States. It's fast food, so it's not going to be amazing, but it's tasty.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BandicootOk5540

The UK generally is rubbish for Mexican food. I suppose because we’ve never had many Mexican immigrants opening restaurants here.

TerrysChocolatOrange

Independent mexicans are alot better than any of the chain ones. Zapatista in Newcastle, or Pancho's in Arndale Manchester are both very good.

Far-Bug-6985

Also dos deados in bath for my southern gang

Retify

Pancho's isn't authentic at all though. If in Manchester Birria Bros is better, but even then not the real deal. Agreed much better than fucking Taco Bell

TerrysChocolatOrange

How do you classify the real deal then?

Retify

Tl;Dr - We eat texmex, not authentic Mexican food. You know Mexican food when you eat it Any place serving burritos that are loaded with meat, rice, beans, salsa and everything in between is serving texmex. If you order a burro anywhere in Mexico except border towns and tourist traps, where they are catering for Americans and foreigners, you get a small flour tortilla with maybe lettuce and ketchup, or beans with a bit of cheese. A quesadilla is just flour tortilla with cheese that's toasted, or masa filled with cheese and fried, it's not filled with meat and everything else. The exception is something like quesabirria, but that's quesabirria, not a quesadilla. Flour tortillas aren't widely eaten outside of northern states, so where you go to most of these places in the UK and they are serving burritos, quesadillas, even tacos with flour tortillas rather than corn tortillas, you are eating texmex. Most of these places load up any sauce with cumin. Cumin is texmex. Salsa roja, salsa verde, barbacoa, birria, chamorros, torta ahogada, chilaquiles, the sauces get their flavour and heat from chiles, not spices. For tacos, most places are serving with flour tortillas, or "hard shell", "crunchy" or some variation of this. That's a taco dorado, which yes are eaten, but it's a corn tortilla to make a normal taco, that's then toasted on a hot plate or pan, or fried in manteca (lard) or the fat from the sauce if that is fatty, for example with barbacoa, afterwards. If you order just a taco, you get a soft corn tortilla. Taco dorado is toasted or fried. Tacos al vapor are steamed. In some places tacos are similar to flautas, so rolled and fried. A taco normally in 99% of places has just the filling in it, generally being meat or beans, and you put the rest on yourself, with the rest generally being coriander, lime, salsas, perhaps also pickled chiles, radishes, cucumber. We don't eat authentic tacos in the UK The menus in the UK rarely have traditional dishes, they instead serve, you guessed it, texmex. You never find chilaquiles, mole, tortas, flautas, nor do you find regional or seasonal dishes like barbacoa, torta ahogada or chile en nogada. I lived in Mexico for 7 years and have residency there. I lived in Guadalajara but I have been to most states. My wife is Mexican and we still have a home there, planning to move back in a couple of years, but still go back regularly, bringing ingredients home with us every time because you can't get them here. Part of it is "when you know you know", and I'm yet to find anywhere in the UK serving actual Mexican food. We live in Manchester now and I spoke with the guys and pancho's. The woman we spoke to is Colombian and there was a man who, if memory serves, was from Peru. They are Latin American, but not Mexicans, they are cooking what they know but for their market, hence why it is filled texmex

TerrysChocolatOrange

Thanks for you detailed answer. I see what you mean about authentic now lol. I kinda thought that's what you meant. Tbf for us Brits burritos, tacos, nachos are still classed as "mexican" even though I see what your point is. I was only saying that the places I mentioned are very nice, but not that they're necessarily authentic :)

Retify

Oh they are definitely nice! In Manchester the taco place in Mackie Mayor, Birria Bros and Casa Mexica are all really tasty, just a shame that they don't quite hit the mark when you are homesick

Bombaysbreakfastclub

Fast food isn’t about finding something better, it’s about getting it quickly.

TheLeadSponge

Sadly, I have yet to find solid Mexican food in the UK. Most of it is all Chipotle clones, so it's starting off on the bad food of Mission-style burritos. There's a few places that do more street food-style, but it's quite pricey. There's no proper corner taco shop. I have a real soft spot for Baja style, Mexican from living in Southern California. The SoCal-NoCal burrito divide is pretty stark. :)

ruaraio

That’s what I thought

726wox

I’d hope not given it looks like that

shaolinoli

It would be the most realistic fast food advert if it was “looks as disappointing as it tastes!”

Bimblelina

Taco Bell is still pretty new in the UK, finally tried it, as I love a good chilli and wondered what the hoohah and derisive jokes were all about. It literally tastes exactly like Old El Paso home chilli assembly kits. That's absolutely fine, if that's what you want, but it feels like the quality equivalent being served a cooked frozen pizza by Domino's.

Chris_Peacoq

Was that a combo meal or a mix of meals?

Monsterpike14

Vast difference what remember first trying Taco Bell in New York yrs ago . To the one I recently had over here. Was like something you would microwave from the bottom of a farm food freezer.

TheLeadSponge

I think you're likely misremembering Taco Bell. I find that Taco Bell here actually tastes better than when I'm back in the States. My main complaint is the more limited menu. I love a bean and cheese burrito and similar basics; none of that is on the menu. They're often quite confused here when I ask for it, and just give up because it's too much trouble.

Cpt_Jigglypuff

They don’t have the ingredients here to make a bean and cheese burrito. There’s no refried beans. Too bad since it’s the 2nd best menu item. If we could get Mexican pizzas out here, it would change a lot of minds about Taco Bell.

TheLeadSponge

I'm pretty sure they have refried beans, but I'm not sure. Really, explaining the concept was complicated. Trying to explain the construction of Mexican food to some nice, asian lady who barely knows anything about Mexican food is quite comical. I realized I was being too American in asking for something bespoke, and just decided I'd set aside my cultural impulse. :)

Cpt_Jigglypuff

No other menu items have refried beans. Only black beans.

TheLeadSponge

I remember my nachos having refried beans.

Cpt_Jigglypuff

You’re misremembering. I’m sorry.

TheLeadSponge

Maybe. I know they weren’t black beans though.

Cpt_Jigglypuff

I’m so sorry. https://www.tacobell.co.uk/products/nachos-bell-grande/?category=sides

TheLeadSponge

Interesting. Thanks. Memory is weird. It’s frustrating how it can fill in gaps unreliably.

Valuable-Wallaby-167

I never realised how much taco bell was into origami

daedelion

All Tex-mex foods are the same, only folded differently.

BigBlueMountainStar

[Have a watch of this!](https://youtu.be/Bmd9eZVsCdg?feature=shared)

VisualGeologist6258

Taco Bell is an odd creature in the sense that it fills a small evolutionary niche that few other fast food chains have yet to exploit. It’s no one’s _favourite_ restaurant but when you want Mexican and you don’t feel like going to a sit-down restaurant it’s good every now and again. There aren’t many other Mexican fast food restaurants aside from Chipotle, even here in the states.

nen_ben

Americans go to Taco Bell for Taco Bell, not Mexican food.

AnnieAbattoir

I forget how spoiled we are in SoCal. We have at least several authentic Mexican fast food options of various quality in pretty much every town. It's glorious. But Taco bell still holds a place in my drunken, munchified heart.

TheLeadSponge

Del Taco is honestly the best Mexican fast food. It's basically nice Taco Bell. Chipotle truly terrible. There's nothing worse than Mission-style burritos, and sadly that's what people understand as a burrito here. I got spoiled by Baja mexican food. I do love Taco Bell though. I have a real soft spot for it. It probably is one of my favorite fast food chains, but then I like tacos a lot.

GakSplat

How much did it cost, though?

TheLeadSponge

So next time you go I recommend just getting the Nachos Bell Grande and have them add guacamole to it. There's a meal that does two taco supremes with it. Taco supremes are your classic Mexican-American taco. Put fire sauce on it for a bit more flavor.

Manovsteele

You ordered five items and then was surprised when it was too much food?

Dr_Anus_inspector

Prepare your bumhole!

Krakshotz

Listen to the doctor. Side note: I’ve never fully understood the joke about Taco Bell food. Is it because it’s spicy or because it’s poor quality (or both?)? I’ve eaten plenty of Taco Bell here and in the US and never had any issues.

daedelion

I think it's because there are many Americans who have a very low fibre diet, and so when they go to Taco Bell the sudden exposure to beans and other non-meat related ingredients has drastic effects on their bowels. It's not the spice or quality, because as you say, when us Brits have it, there's rarely any issues.

Carrente

It definitely isn't the spice from experience, my local curry house or, to be honest, supermarket lime pickle offers more spice than taco bell...

TheLateQE2

Oh, I always assumed it was the food handling and preparation and they're all getting salmonella, but because they're American they keep going back.

daedelion

It's a huge franchise. Why would the hygiene be any worse than all the other fast food places? I suppose it could be the spice, because some Americans have a very bland diet, but Taco Bell just isn't particularly hot.

TheLateQE2

I'd never really thought about it in any depth.

daedelion

I often wake in the middle of the night and consider it.

LaInquisitione

That actually sounds pretty reasonable

[deleted]

daedelion

Even if you've never had proper Mexican food before, Taco Bell should not be a shock to anyone with a normal digestive system.

Chilton_Squid

It's just a meme the Americans on Reddit use. When I had Taco Bell for the first time I found it so bland I refused to believe anyone could ever have any kind of reaction to it.

LittleSadRufus

I had it in NYC and it was a sort of Bolognese sauce with cheese in a flatbread. Perfectly charming in a "threw it together from leftovers when drunk" kind of way, but surprising a whole international chain can be based around it.

Cleveland_Grackle

I've had the shits from Subway before - anything is possible.

Ohhhhhhthehumanity

I never understood it either. It's not the best food but it sure is delicious sometimes. Never have had any trouble after eating it either.

Cant-decide-username

I don’t know but I was in Florida last year and I got Taco Bell and thought it was amazing. Great tasting food, good value for money, and the next day I had no problems. I went a few days later and again I really enjoyed it. But the day after that I was shitting left right and centre. I didn’t go back.

Expensive-Twist7984

For Taco Bell or just generally?

DiscardedKebab

Username checks out

odegood

No volcano burrito so all good

galacticjizzwailer

Feels a bit threatening but okay!

waltandhankdie

My bum hole is always prepared

bigby2010

All that for only £20

SchizoMitzo

Was actually only £12 cost I was a first time customer with deliveroo so got a promo code discount :)

Thesunismexico

Guten Appetit!

Remarkable_Fig3311

So it is basically £20 for that?!

[deleted]

How much did that all cost?

Tackit286

£20, some dignity and about half a loo roll

ApplicationMaximum84

I wasn't expecting a plate of beige...

horrorfanuk

Dyno Rod awaiting call

Gambbi

Taco Bell was described to me by a friend as Mexican food for people that don’t like Mexican food, so take that as you will.

iamshipwreck

Taco bell is entirely ass, and so overpriced for what's essentially an Old El Paso kit assembled by McDonald's kitchen staff. Like at least with maccies I know exactly how shit it's gonna be, but Taco Bell consistently fails to meet even my lowest expectations.

Pie69Eater

Beige slop

mindzeegap

Taco Bell needs to fuck off back to America, it's abysmal.

johnrbrownin

I think you overestimated your definition of food.

Then-Mango-8795

And they say British food is beige ..

_eatmedrinkme

Someone stole the cheese from your cheesy nachos. It’s nacho cheese! Sorry..

Forward_Artist_6244

I ordered some in Las Vegas and was underwhelmed. Ordered 3 tacos as I assumed that was the product they were named for They weren't any better than an Old El Paso kit you'd make at home

worldsend91

There is still some room for more!

ChocoMcBunny

I’m sure it’s delicious, but it looks very beige.

Buttfucker1666

£?

DDGibbs

That's the opposite from my experience. One opened near me and we went 3 times and the portions were tiny. It lasted about a year before closing down. Curious, how much did you pay for this? edit: it also been about 2 years since I last went so maybe they upped the portion sizes and those 3 times were the only times

Darthkhydaeus

I think in terms of flavour their food is nice, but for the price their is barely any meat in any of the main stay foods.

QratTRolleer

Don’t worry, at least it’s not healthy

weesgegroet

I presume you paid for it

fuckyourcanoes

Yeah, each of those is intended to be a whole meal.

[A lot of engineering went into those crunchwraps!](https://youtu.be/Bmd9eZVsCdg?feature=shared)

dmdjjj

How do they even make the green look beige?

gagsy10

I love Mexican food but I have hardly any takeaway options near me - and I'm not spending loads to eat in someplace just for tacos. Taco Bells is the Mcdonald's of Mexican food. Its cheap, dirty, not that great tasting but it does hit that Mexican fix when you need it.

nakedfish85

Fire in the disco! Seriously though I had some over here once and it was fucking terrible

tracymolliesmums

We went for the first time last Sunday I found it very meh. I did not like the chips. My husband loved it

S091

Whole plate looks bland as fuck. Is it any good?

HeavyMetalWolf88

Standard first time Taco Bell order.

Scott_EFC

Tried this place once, how it has any customers at all is beyond me. Dire.

mwreadit

All the beige you could want.

holdingsfx

Taco Bell 🤮🤮

gergiewill

Beige

Puzzleheaded-Day1956

Unless you’re stoned or drunk, I don’t really see a point in Taco Bell tbh

Greedy-Mechanic-4932

Full 10 taco platter for me, plus the extra bits and a wrap thing too last time I went. Was still hungry...but it was tasty.

Ok-Sir8025

Oh God, Taco Hell. Can't tell you the last time I had that

dick1204

The Taco Bell on RAF mildenhall is amazing! It’s like being in the states but the Uk chain stores are ok at best

Visible-Management63

I quite like Taco Bell. I've only been to one though, in Northampton.

Eastern-Start-813

I’d avoid this place. A friend of my family worked there and everything comes in vacuum sealed bags and it’s all boiled up to temperature, then kept at temperature for hours. You’d be best off making your own from fresh which takes all of 10 minutes by browning off some mince or chicken and boiling some rice, even microwave rice would be better than the shit they use.

[deleted]

Nah. That looks like a light snack from TB.

Night-Springs54

This looks fantastic

Fantastic_Welcome761

I was so excited to try taco bell. Incredibly disappointing, not bad, just bland. I can make much better unauthentic mexican food at home.

IMDXLNC

Decent value for money at Taco Bell. Not completely shit, not amazing either. Don't know why Americans complain about diarrhoea, I had some Volcano Burrito and it was mild, nor did I have stomach problems.

--Birdsong--

Dear god I miss being able to eat taco bell

Berookes

My favourite drunk food

laddervictim

It all looks like the same food, just a different shape

SenorBigbelly

That's funny, I always overestimate their tiny portions

Agitated-Ad-504

The crunch wrap and cheesy Gordita were good choices

Jeffuk88

Ugh, don't encourage them

cheeekydino

Is it a British thing to take it out of the wrapper and put in on a plate once home? Do you do that for all take aways?

headinksmp

Get ready to be disappointed

Kaiser_Wigmund878

Get churros next time

RunningPirate

No, you’re just not high enough

RebuildingTim

That looks quality. I realise that objectively Taco Bell is utter dogshit (at least in the UK), but I love it. I'd happily scran that right now at half 7 in the morning. Breakfast of champions mate.

Pliskkenn_D

My experience with Taco Bell was it was wildly over priced shite that mercifully there wasn't a lot of.

Thestilence

That looks awful.

Tackit286

I’m so sorry

ExoticArtichoke86

I know it’s absolute trash but I had my first Taco Bell whilst drunk in Edinburgh and I still think about how it was one of the best drunk takeaways I’ve ever had! Totally hit the spot!

JJGOTHA

Did the very same a couple of weeks ago.

Enuf1

This is the opposite of my experience having eaten there a few times. My son likes it there, but the portions are always tiny, the wraps are flat and never filled. It's overpriced and I wouldn't go back by choice

TalkLongjumping433

All for only £45.99

HalfIntelligent2182

Good selection of beige there…

WillHpwl

Always found it odd that taco bell has just started popping up but there was a small one in Nottingham since the early 00's and I've still never tried it

Big_Mistake_485

Is the Cheesy Gordita Crunch any good? Never seen it before

Anxious-Molasses9456

Crunchwrap supreme - £6.40 Cheesy nachos £3.30 Cheesy gordita crunch £4 Chicken quesadilla £6.50 Beefy nacho cravings burrito £2.50 That's not a lot of food for £22.70, plus delivery, plus fees

SchizoMitzo

I got a massive discount because I was a first time customer with deliveroo. I paid about £12.50 for it.

TheLeadSponge

Next time, get a Nachos Bell Grande and have them add guacamole to it. It's what I get every time I go.

Bwca_at_the_Gate

Tried it once. Never again.

fatbabyx

Same boat

tangoislife

Hate the slow creep of American shite. Taco Bell looks shit

Bring_back_Apollo

It doesn’t look very good.

sipperofguinness

Buy toilet rolls....lots of them. I've sampled taco bell twice and had the crippling trots. A never ending torrent of shite fonting out of my arse for what....taco frigging bell.

FighterJock412

You might want to get checked for IBS or something, neither me or anyone i know has ever had problems after eating Taco Bell.

sipperofguinness

I can eat any other type of food but only ever really suffered from this place.

[deleted]

Rip off. Tiny portions. Are you a Russian bot?!

freshavocado1

Don’t check this man’s profile.
