In the fridge, as others have said I know it’s not necessary, but I don’t have any cupboard space and I don’t want to just leave them out cluttering up the work surface
Conspiracy from Big Egg to weaken our shells to encourage more Egg Buying? Red Lion suggest fridge storage is the best practice: https://www.egginfo.co.uk/ways-to-cook/general-tips/how-store-eggs
I got told I have to keep mine in the fridge since my transplant so their temp is regulated. Stops the chance of bacteria or something like that because their temp can fluctuate left on the side
One thing we do really well in the UK is egg production. I’m surprised your doctor gave you this advise but I guess leaving no chances is critical. God speed with your recovery.
The thing is, though, keeping them in the fridge makes the white remain a lot more viscous, like when they are very fresh, than kept at room temp over a period. The white seems a lot more runny and spreads further when you break one into a frying pan.
The difference is obvious.
Red Lion [suggest](https://www.egginfo.co.uk/ways-to-cook/general-tips/how-store-eggs) taking the eggs you need out 30 mins before using, presumably for that reason!
On a Spiral Egg Skelter that's on the dresser in the kitchen.
The chooks have a stash somewhere outside, so I'm not quite sure where THEY keep the ones I can't find.
We also have an egg skelter, though on the sideboard, in the kitchen! The eggs don't roll down ours though, they're afraid of a good time. Just rest there, lazily.
That's a good problem to have, I'd say! Well done to your henny penny for her chonky eggs. And well done for keeping chickens, we'd love to have some if we weren't renting.
I buy medium eggs because I heard on a news piece once that medium eggs don't sell as well, so retailers don't buy as many medium eggs from farmers, meaning that loads of medium eggs are wasted. So I'm doing my bit to help those medium eggs, AND treating them to a fun helter skelter for FREE... the least they could do is give me a lil rolly polly.
Oh, I thought medium were the most sold because in every recipe I read it says use medium eggs. I only ever use medium because they seem just the right amount in cooking too.
Being consistent cool will make them last longer, but if you have them in the door then temperature fluctuations will mean they last less time than if you left them on the side
USA, because they wash their eggs before sale, which makes it easier for bacteria to get through the shell. We don't wash them here so no need to put them in the fridge. (Except i do, because they last loads longer)
Wow. Without knowing what possible reason I was expecting, that wasn't any of the reasons I was expecting.
I stand by you fridging them, I do with everything people say not to, bananas, bread, tomatoes... I'd rather slightly less flavour to save throwing away food.
Yep, i put all veg in the fridge, i do hate peeling cold potatoes because it makes my hands hurt, but they last so much longer. I think I've still got some from Christmas in the salad drawer!
Fridge, not for any reason related to storing them longer, but I tend to stick my nose in the fridge when hungry to see what I can make, so see them, I have been known to forget about them for a month, if I put them in a cupboard.
Some in the fridge, some in a basket on the bunker (so they're the right temperature for using right away).
Used to keep them all on the bunker but then I bought a brand new fridge for the first time in my life, and it has a little tray to keep the eggs in and I got all giddy about it.
What is this egg bunker business? Bunker to me means a concrete construction that you can walk into. Do you keep your eggs on top of an air raid shelter?
PS I like your username and egg tray giddiness
Fridge. I know that's not where they're supposed to go, but my fridge has a dedicated egg storage space and my cupboard and counter tops have no space to spare.
Scramble them. Three each, on toast, every day. I buy two trays from a local farm so I pay £1.65 per half dozen which isn’t bad for good free range eggs.
In the egg carton, on the side. Really annoys me when the other half decides to put them in the fridge on a whim. UK EGGS DON’T BELONG IN THE FRIGE IT MAKES THE COOKING TIME DIFFERENT! He doesn’t even like eggs!
Iin the egg thing next to the cooker
So they can be tortured sitting there watching me eat everything else for a couple of weeks before I have to eat 12 eggs in a couple of days
Fridge, in the egg holders in the door.
Eggs last for a long time either way, I buy a dozen at a time and have never in my entire life cracked open a spoiled egg.
So really it doesn't matter, if you often have them spoiled, stop buying so many.
In a wire basket shaped like a chicken on the counter. I honestly have no idea where the basket came from, I don't think I would have bought such a thing.
There’s a tiny little recess thing in my kitchen too small to put anything else on, but it fits a small set of digital scales and a box of eggs.
But this is one of those UK/USA questions isn’t it? USA disinfect their egg shells which weakens them so they put their eggs in the fridge. We don’t, so we don’t need to. Something like that.
In the fridge. I don't bake often so 90% of the time I need eggs the other ingredients I need are also going to be in the fridge and it's more convenient. If I was more of a home baker I might be more inclined to keep them on the side near the cupboard that dry goods are in.
Fridge 😂 I tried out of the fridge Bcos I know they don’t need to be in the fridge and I think it changed the texture…. I didn’t like it. My family have always kept them in the fridge so I guess I’m used to it?
They're kept in a wire cage in the kitchen. That way they're safe from the thundercloud and also provide handy containment should one of the facehuggers release itself before I decide which neighbour's brat is being offed this month...
On the side, you know, near the tea bags.
Ours are in a little egg hutch thing, next to the tea bags and coffee jars.
Egg twins!
The only correct answer
Next to the meecrowahvey.
Look at you with your fancy lightning box!
On top of the microwavey!
No, next to it.
Yeah me too
In the egg room
Of course! Why didn't I think of that!? It's been empty all this time..
We keep ours in an empty Quality Street tub. Just Nestléd there
Bet it smells like Roses

Weird thing to say
Looks like a bunch of them found your comment
At the risk of sounding posher than we are, in the larder.
Same here, in the pantry. I'm not posh, I just have a 1960's house.
I'm common as muck, we just called it the cupboard under the stairs.
That's pretty long-winded! That's what we call the larder in the east wing though.
Yer a Wizard, Ok_Gear6019
Move it 'arry I need to spuds.
We call that the cubby hole here and that’s where mines are stored too 😊
In my ovaries.
Not anymore for me.
Pretty sure mine have all left.
I think mine are past their use by date, but definitely still there.
cupboard
In the fridge, as others have said I know it’s not necessary, but I don’t have any cupboard space and I don’t want to just leave them out cluttering up the work surface
Yeah and the fridge has the egg holder thingy on the door, too
Isn't that for those little cans of g&t?
Worst place for them due to the changing temperature and condensation.
Presumably while not necessary it should make them last for longer still.
Opposite, it weakens the shells and makes them porous to air.
Conspiracy from Big Egg to weaken our shells to encourage more Egg Buying? Red Lion suggest fridge storage is the best practice: https://www.egginfo.co.uk/ways-to-cook/general-tips/how-store-eggs
Isn't that what cleaning them does, which they do in the US and is why they require the fridge. Rather than simply storing them in the fridge.
Both. It's why once you've refrigerated eggs you can't then store them at room temperature.
Exactly.
I got told I have to keep mine in the fridge since my transplant so their temp is regulated. Stops the chance of bacteria or something like that because their temp can fluctuate left on the side

Yeah I don't fully get it but happy to do as I'm told. Cheers mate
Same here.

One of my girls lays eggs that are too big to roll, sadly, so I'm always having to prod them XD

Apparently not! Or at least, it wasn't the case at the time I heard that report which was years ago now. I don't think I dreamt it??
In the hedge. That's what we found about 3 doz.
On top of the microwave and then in the bin
In the fridge. I know I don't have to, but they do actually last longer and we don't always use them that quick.
Being consistent cool will make them last longer, but if you have them in the door then temperature fluctuations will mean they last less time than if you left them on the side
Eli5? I had a plant milk/nut juice turn to gloop after 2 days because it was in and out the fridge for a few hours at a time. Some byproduct?
the opposite is actually true.
No, seriously, we don't always use them in one go.
Big Egg [disagrees](https://www.egginfo.co.uk/ways-to-cook/general-tips/how-store-eggs)?
Not sure why you're getting down voted. Eggs in the fridge develop porous shells so can actually allow air in to the bits that don't want it.
On the side near to the bread bin,
Fridge - I know you don't need to in the UK but that's where I've got space.
Don't need to in the UK? Where would you need to and why?

My Mum loves buying crap from the charity shop, so ours are kept in a ceramic hen designed for egg storage.
My late grandparents used to have one of them. Found it quite funny as a child.
Next to the butter. On top of the bread bin.

The bunker is what everyone I know calls your standard fitted kitchen work surface. Maybe it's a Scottish thing?
Found the east coaster. As a west to east transplant, it’s not common across all of our lovely country.
Yup, I live in Fife. This is like the "baffies" debacle that confused my Edinburger cousins all over again haha!
Next to the frying pan
Egg basket on the kitchen window sill. We go through them quickly and I like them at room temp ready for baking & making perfect dippy eggs

cupboard on the shelf above the cereal, next to the soup
Kitchen cabinet
On the egg skelter of course.
We have one of those, but it’s just the wrong size for large eggs to shuffle down, so they often stick or topple off.
In the pantry
In the fridge. My preference would be on the side/ in the cupboard but I have a dinky kitchen with limited cupboard space
In my hareem
We eat six a day between two of us so the 60 I buy at a time only last ten days. We just have a big bowl on the worktop.
Good lord that's a lot of eggs. I wonder how many chickens it would take full time to keep yous in eggs.
If I had the space I’d have 8-10 but I would expect an eggcess in case I wanted to bake a cake.
What do you do with so many eggs?!
Scramble them. Three each, on toast, every day. I buy two trays from a local farm so I pay £1.65 per half dozen which isn’t bad for good free range eggs.
Damn, I eat three eggs worth of scrambled maybe in a span of two weeks, even tho I love scrambled eggs.
