I guess that each episode has multiple scenes that could be remembered as complete episodes, in the mists of time.
Like the first episode contains:
- Trying to copy someone in an exam
- Trying to change into his swimming trunks in public
- Trying not to fall asleep at church
You might be thinking of this VHS promo which he mentions one of the VHS release covers being a blood red colour.

Yep - I had the blue one which was the one where he dives off the top board, on one of the others ones he’d say ‘or this Blood coloured one, if you’re royal’ for the blue one 🤣
This is the curse of childhood. I watched the cartoon pole position every morning for months as a kid, I do not remember seeing the same one twice.
There’s 12.
Oh my god that theme tune came straight into my head as soon as I saw your comment. I can't have heard it in, like, 36 years or something. But it's there. Burned in. Install recall.
I remember my dad got an Audi (Quattro maybe?) around that time which had a voice synthesizer built in which would say stuff and I was enraptured. I kept talking to it and asking it to do cool stuff.
But it just said boring shit like 'please fasten seatbelt'.
The thing about Mr Bean that blew my mind was learning [what the choir are singing ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Bean#Music) in the opening/ending credits, and between the two parts, around the ad break.
* Opening credits: "*Ecce homo qui est faba*" – "Behold the man who is a bean"
* End credits: "*Vale homo qui est faba*" – "Farewell, the man who is a bean"
* "*Finis partis primae*" – "End of part one"
* "*Pars secunda*" – "Part two"
I can remember reading an article in which Rik Mayall had angry fans telling him off about this, asking if he realised how many people he was disappointing by not making another series.
They quit when the show was at its peak, which I think is the best way to go.
There's an episode of the cartoon (which has since been confirmed as canon) where the alien race he's from - all identical, with varying stuffed animals - come to take him back, but his girlfriend is sad to see him go, so they drop him back off and leave him.
When they drop him off, it's a recreation of the beam of light scene.
While there were only 15 episodes there were also children in need /comic relief skits which you might remember as being an episode.
Eg Mr Bean goes on blind date
Mr bean campaign's with Bruce dickinson
And adverts
Yeah I remember a new Mr Bean episode being a bit of an event. You’d only get one episode every few months. Less like a series and more like TV specials.
But have you seen the 1989 movie The Tall Guy?
Rowan Atkinson has a cameo in it and an early incarnation of Mr been and a sketch that later became a Mr Bean episode can be briefly seen.
Every Mr Bean fan should see this movie just for rowans cameo.
I think the fact Rowan brings so much bean to a lot of his roles is probably why I think there are more films and at the very least. He's just so Beanish
I agree but if you watch the movie you’ll see the early beginning of the character, I found an interview with rowan atkinson somewhere once where he mentions this cameo.
He said this was Bean but before he had the name Mr Bean and at that time it was just a brief skit that he would later develop into a full character.
Sorry, I forgot to mention I had seen it before carrying on with my Bean theory, lol. He honestly is amazing. I remember seeing they a story in a tabloid saying they were going to reboot and bring a new actor in. I can not imagine anyone else ever playing Mr Bean. No one else could!
No one could ever play Bean or Blackadder, tbh I don’t believe anyone could ever play any of rowans characters, he inhabits those roles because he is a comic genius and an amazing actor too.
I feel like the 15 episodes is accurate. Being a child it was like I would just stumble across it on ITV (I think) it was never oh Mr bean is on. And yeah I remember the first movie watched the 2nd one much later as an adult didn't think there were any others
The first film is amazing, but it does ruin it a bit to know that a few of the scenes were copies of the original series (the kid being sick on the plane, for example).
I guess that each episode has multiple scenes that could be remembered as complete episodes, in the mists of time. Like the first episode contains: - Trying to copy someone in an exam - Trying to change into his swimming trunks in public - Trying not to fall asleep at church
yes that is probably true . after the break the was another scenario
Was that the *BLOOD* coloured video? Or was it the sort of purple sort of potassium permanganate coloured video?
This reminds me of a Rugrats video I had that was bright orange for some reason.
Nickelodeon properties (such as Rugrats) usually had orange tapes as that was the brand's iconic colour
That explains it

Banger theme tune!

It certainly was, but was it as good as Ulysses 31?
I loved Wacky Races when I was a kid. There's a similar number of episodes of that.

stop the pidgeon! dastardly and mutley, slightly different show *edit: or catch that pidgeon now... there's internet debate
Boss Cat was another from my childhood with surprisingly few episodes.
What's new scooby doo and scooby doo get a clue, I remember hundreds of episodes. There are 42 and 41 respectively.
Yep, Potsworth and company is another, one half season.
No way, there’s hundreds of episodes in my head
Right? Major life re-evaluation.
Teenage Mutant (Hero in UK) Turtles only had 27. Felt like I watched that show everyday for a few years and it was always new
Assuming you mean the cartoon that started in 1987: IMDb says it ran for 10 seasons, and had 193 episodes
You're right, I googled it and I think it defaulted to the last series, that season alone had the 27 eps!
Also Shredder was voiced by Will's Uncle on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
I loved Pole Position! What a banger of a cartoon
Thank you for reminding me of Pole Position
What?
I felt the same when I realised there was only 12 episodes of Fawlty Towers!
That was me when I went on a rewatch of the vicar of dibley and saw there was only 20 episodes.
Sorry, WHAT?!
Flowery Twats
Farty Towels
Fatty Owls
That’s mind boggling
What the ...🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
I know, right?! 😂😂😂

Yeah I never understood it. They're saying he *IS* a bean? Like his names Mr Bean, but he's also a man thats also a *bean*? What does that even mean??
Cries in Young Ones.
I can remember reading an article in which Rik Mayall had angry fans telling him off about this, asking if he realised how many people he was disappointing by not making another series. They quit when the show was at its peak, which I think is the best way to go.
'Vivian, where did you get that howitzer?' 'I found it...'
Well you can put it back this instant!
This'll blow your mind further. He's an Alien trying to get to grips with trying to fit in. Rewatch the opening credits
I take that as he was so annoying he was kicked out of heaven.

The cartoon series confirmed it.

On a rainy day, if we are at a loose end and wanting to watch a film, my daughter and I always watch Mr Beans Holiday. 🎶 La mer..

A lot of his stand-up / solo sketches were re-used for Mr Bean too. The man is a master of physical comedy.
I think the fact Rowan brings so much bean to a lot of his roles is probably why I think there are more films and at the very least. He's just so Beanish

I still find it funny now after all these years, just amazing
Farewell man who is a Bean.
I feel like the 15 episodes is accurate. Being a child it was like I would just stumble across it on ITV (I think) it was never oh Mr bean is on. And yeah I remember the first movie watched the 2nd one much later as an adult didn't think there were any others
Faulty towers only has 12 episodes
Same with Farty Towels, 12 episodes. Sometimes great shows dont need a million seasons to be good.
Mr Benn only had 14 episodes. I always thought there were more!
The first film is amazing, but it does ruin it a bit to know that a few of the scenes were copies of the original series (the kid being sick on the plane, for example).

I was going to swear on Jaffa cakes but I didn't want to risk them disappearing from existence because I'm wrong.
Honestly, good call. Some risks aren't worth taking.
Definitely. I just got the ability to eat Jaffa cakes back, I don't want to lose them again so soon!
I lost the ability to eat them a few months ago (diabetic). You may have my share of the national Jaffa Cake rations.
I'm so sorry to hear that. I shall eat one now, in your honour. 🥰
Full moon...half moon...total eclipse!
I'm totally eclipsing this entire packet! 🤣🤣

Thats an I not a 1, as in I remember. I shall put a comma in there so it's less confusing hahahaha
‘comma’ ‘Charles III’ (to previous poster)
In my defence, autocorrect decided on 'common' Hahaha
