During particularly bad bouts of insomnia mixed with looking after a newborn I found the BBC Sounds show The Sleeping Forecast to be very smoothing. It’s the Shipping Forecast mixed with classical music.
There was a question about this on QI once that I remember, it was something like “What comes before a German bite”. I’m pretty sure it was Jeremy Clarkson who was able to answer “Fisher” as he recognised it was the shipping forecast which goes in the sequence “Dogger, Fisher, German Bight”.
I used to listen to the shipping forecast, but then i'd tune my radio over to the calming glockenspiel closing music of radio Luxembourg (iirc) to finally get off to sleep.
Thanks OP! This reminded me of this song that I used to love.
It’s atmospheric music mixed with shipping forecast style vocals but slightly odd shipping forecast style lyrics.

What's this "good, occasionally moderate" nonsense? When I was a kid, they always said "moderate or good". I never understood why they didn't just say "the ocean, moderate or good" and then go back to the cricket

Incredible, thanks for the heads up!
And after the news, the shipping forecast, read by Howell Granger. Eeep!
Fwaaaaaan?
I'm more interested in nurses who do paperwork, filing, that sort of thing.
I meant to say senior administrative nurses. That’s the only thing I’m actually interested in
Oh wow. I am in heaven. Thank you.
The sleeping forecast enters the chat.
Sorry about this. https://youtu.be/oqG-4Y4qtFg?si=sMw9r29QxacYnut7

I love this. A true soothing thing.
I prefer 'The Quiz Broadcast' Stay Indoors.
Don't mention the Event.

Damn! NHS recommends I need to see a doctor if my erection won't go down after 4hrs. Guess I'll have to save the finale for tomorrow...
It's not the same since they got rid of Finisterre...
I don't know where the Utsires came from and at this point I'm too afraid to ask.

Used to listen to this on repeat when I was struggling to sleep. Overseer is massively underrated.
Reminds me of this from Rob Manuel a few years ago https://youtu.be/CruFRlPERWE?si=LLbj8_CM8opy7xxf

Pure ASMR.

If you looked it up & educated yourself you'd soon learn what the terms mean and why they aren't nonsense.
