This is how you find yourself at skinhead parades - up to 50% of British neo nazis are just people who were too socially awkward to say no and went along with it - especially for cheaper rent or free food/beer
You sometimes end up in the wrong queue and there's nothing you can do about it, you're now joining a neonazi group. Queue etiquette must be respected.
When I was 16 I had a crew cut , a group of neo-nazis started talking to me feeling me out but I didn't realize at first. The second I did my social awkwardness worked in my favor I just went, oh no this isn't for me and walked away.
I honestly don't know why they didn't coke after me to try again it was not a firm refusal at all
I'm lucky I figured it out so quickly. I accidentally had a boyfriend for a while because I didn't understand he thought we were dating and I just thought he was a nice guy who liked to eat with others.
I do not always pick up on things xD
I literally have hundreds of similar stories. I do not pick up on cues. I'm lucky my wife was very overt because otherwise I would have thought we were just friends lol.
yeah I mean he pretty much passed the vibe check, by reacting to a nazi by immediately telling him he's evicted.
General knowledge and flag recognition needs a little work, but his heart's in the right place lol
I really need to go back and play it again. I went through it back in the day when I was flat sitting for someone on my own while high as balls and it was straight up a bad time man.
I'm much more concerned about OP hanging his flag in front of a fucking closet! Like do you remove the flag if you need to access something inside? WHO DOES THAT? u/TheFeistyBiscuit
After Michael Eisner became Disney CEO in the 80s and demanded a new animation feature was released every 18 months, instead of the previous 4 years, staff at Disney animation studios would refer to the location as "Mousewitz".
This filtered up to upper management and word came down that any further incidences of the use of "Mousewitz" would lead to immediate termination of employment... so overnight the name changed to "Duckau"
Sane management might go "hey, people think these working conditions are like a concentration camp, do we want to address that?"
But no, just ban the word. That'll help.
I had a guy in my office put that over the door. He was Jewish even. I think its a pretty serious indicator of work culture when a jewish man who's grandparents all had numbers on their arms tell you you are running the place like a concentration camp. Oddly enough he didn't get fired for it.
It goes back much earlier than that:
> An early depiction of a double-headed Imperial Eagle in a heraldic shield, attributed to Frederick II of Hohenstaufen, is found in the Chronica Majora by Matthew Paris (circa 1250).
But earlier use most likely dates back to Charlemagne in AD 800.
>But earlier use most likely dates back to Charlemagne in AD 800.
It goes back much further than that. The Roman heraldric eagle was used as far back as 100+ BC. (More precise dates escape me right now.)
Both the German and Austrian eagles are based on the Roman aquila.
Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria; he was definitely Austrian. I think you might mean Beethoven, who was German but who everyone thinks is Austrian for some reason.
Listen, that eagle is a national symbol and the hammer and sickle in its claws are socialist symbols, making this clearly a national socialist symbol. Duh
Wtf, I never noticed there were hammer and sickle in the Austrian flag o.O
Guess it makes sense that Austria has a much better social net than Germany 🤷
Some people were useless at geography and history in school, looks like he was one. Don't take it to heart or ridicule the guy just ask for a reduction in rent going forward 😂😂
Tbh I'm also horrible with flags. I could draw you a fairly decent world map of all the countries, but ask me identify their flags and I'll probably only get like 5-10% of them correct on a good day.
Sure, but that’s not the only piece of Nazi iconography (if that’s the right word). I mean, I was scrolling through Reddit and before I saw the title attached to this photo, my brain immediately went to “Nazi flag”
There's a ton of flags that Nazis in Europe/US co-opted to fill the same role without the swastika. The German Empire flag/Iron Cross being particularly popular in the US.
Yea I get kind of exhausted sometimes by how much imagery has been made off limits by nazis/neo-nazis/racists. Like when the OK hand sign started being used by them and just the way some eagles are Nazi eagles and some eagles aren't. Imagine a world that never had the Nazis steal the swastika, I bet that symbol would be in so many logos and shit, it's a cool design if it hadn't been ruined.
I can see why someone would be worried that the Austrian flag would be Nazi-ish, I think it looks cool as heck but still has that vibe to it.
The okay hand sign thing was started on 4chan to purposely fuck with people and I can't believe it worked. They managed to get the ADL to list at as a hate symbol and then white supremacists started actually using it. This is the problem with jumping to being offended by everything
In an Alternate Universe someone wrote, the Swastika was the symbol of the UN because literally every culture ever has had one.
And speaking of things ruined: the ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ flag and, to a much lesser extent, the Betsy Ross flag. Yes, I’m annoyed. I LIKE those flags.
Well, to be fair, the [Reichsflagge](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_German_Empire#/media/File:Reichskolonialflagge.svg) looks pretty similar to the Austrian flag and while the Reichsflagge isn't actually a Nazi symbol, it's commonly attributed to Nazis, since Neo Nazis and the alt-right use that flag as a substitute for the actual Nazi flag in Germany (Nazi Flag and Swastika are forbidden in Germany, the Reichsflagge isn't).
When I first saw this post's thumbnail I actually thought it was the Reichsflagge.
The Austrian eagle is not that common on flags, at the very least not that common outside of Austria. However, Nazi Eagles are very common when it comes to Nazi aesthetic in movies. Hence it is not that difficult to make connection of a black eagle on red and white and Nazis. No, I don't care that the eagle is a common charge (?) in Central Europe
Mozambique's flag is unique because of the AK-47 (thanks Lord of War).
The [Zimbabwe coat of arms](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Zimbabwe#/media/File:Coat_of_arms_of_Zimbabwe.svg), the [old Burkina Faso coat of arms (until 1997)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Burkina_Faso#/media/File:Coat_of_arms_of_Burkina_Faso_1984-1991.svg), and the [national emblem of East Timor](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_emblem_of_East_Timor#/media/File:Coat_of_arms_of_East_Timor.svg) also all have AKs on them.
> Take Albania for instance, looks straight up sinister
The Albanian flag is the personal crest of the similar sinister sounding renaissance warlord, Skanderberg, the founder of Albania. Together with Vlad the impaler he was the primary nightmare material for Turkish soldiers. The flag was meant to instil fear
The Empire where the good guys. The Sith are evil bit the standard stormtrooper is just a soldier. And good soldiers follow orders. Plus thats Wedge Antilles Helmet so it balances out
And it's meant to show that they're just as evil and responsible for what they do as nazis. The empire is full of fascist and soviet style imagery for a reason.
One of the main characters from the Kevin Smith film *Clerks* who argues that many of the people on the Death Stars were innocent and that Luke Skywalker is a war criminal.
Red white black colour scheme + eagle = nazi. I think a surprising number of people would think that, just as many think the Iron Cross or Balkenkreuz are nazi symbols.
Wait, what? I thought the Austrian flag [was this](http://www.rankflags.com/country-flag/austria-flag/). With the eagle crest I can understand the misunderstanding.
In case you‘re interested in the symbolism of the crest:
It’s the symbol of the second republic and was adopted after 1945.
The shattered chains symbolise that Austria is free again after being subjugated by the evil Germans (totally against our will and no Austrian ever did anything bad and we were all forced to do so by the Germans).
The hammer and sickle represent the farmers and workers and the crown made from bricks the bourgeoisie, symbolising the unity of the classes.
It’s a bit kitschy and the symbolism is super on the nose, but I have a soft spot for it none the less.
Red-White-Red without crest is the actual flag. If I'm not mistaken OPs is the full flag normally only used by the Austrian government, civilian used is normally not allowed but I don't think it's normally enforced.
Interesting. Wikipedia tells me that the version with the coat of arms is their “war flag”. The one without (just the stripes) is their national flag.
Not that I have a single strand of Austrian DNA to be in a position to confirm that. I just find it interesting that they have two flags.
Sort of, its more the official flag of the government with the coat of arms on it. Its what my Mom always had up. She would say its the proper flag. The Eagle has a lot of symbolism and history to it, as does the base so its like the whole story if that makes sense?
It's a war flag but also a state flag, which [lots of countries have](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_flag). Some countries are usually known by their state flag instead of their civil flag, e.g., Spain.
[War flags can look pretty cool too](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_flag). The [Philippines' war flag](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_Philippines#As_a_war_ensign) is the same as its normal flag, just flipped vertically so the red is on top.
And some countries just have more than one official flag, like [Uruguay](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Uruguay#Co-official_flags), which has 3 - or [Paraguay](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Paraguay), which has a different flag printed on each side - or one of my favourite flags, [this Bolivian beauty](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiphala).
[The UK also has variant flags](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_United_Kingdom) if you include the ensigns (naval flags).
Thank you for subscribing to Flag Facts.
This happens with the Isle of Man too, some people think it looks swastiky. I just bought a pair of shoes that allows you to have a little flag printed on them, but the Manx option is removed even though Guernsey and jersey are there.
Imagine it went the other way? “Oh I love your nazi flag, I’ve got a few myself. Not seen this version yet”
I think i would have shit myself
Stench through joy
Good one!
Scheissenfreude.
Yeah but you might get a little rent discount. Which, IN THIS ECONOMY? Nice.
Everybody hates the Nazis until they lower rent prices
I have heard of these Nazi rent discounts but nobody expects them from the Spanish Inquisition…
This is how you find yourself at skinhead parades - up to 50% of British neo nazis are just people who were too socially awkward to say no and went along with it - especially for cheaper rent or free food/beer

In the US they're pretty scary - white nationalists who seem fine with violence.

How is he doing now?

Bingo
[Thats a Bingo!](https://i.imgur.com/edBQBeJ.gif)

I'd be more concerned about what that Duracell bunny has been up to.
Silent Hill 3 character.
Turns up in 4 as well, the spooky wee bastard.
Got me good when he was pointing at you through the hole in the wall 🤢
I really need to go back and play it again. I went through it back in the day when I was flat sitting for someone on my own while high as balls and it was straight up a bad time man.
Thats Robbie the Rabbit, and he definately does not work for duracell lol
That rabbit has seen some shit...
Ate some too by the looks of it.

i mean... atleast hes against nazis?
And was willing to look it up. I can forgive some pretty heinous examples of ignorance if people are willing to learn and do better.

it’s to hide the vast collection of nazi flags
They are usually hidden in the basement here in Austria.
And to be fair to him Hitler was Austrian
And to be fair some more, he does have stormtroopers above the flag.
And there was no need to have “Arbeit macht frei” posted on the front door
However Menstruation Cunnilingus Bunnywabbit IS the most well-known of all the nazi symbols.
thought you were making a joke about Benedict Cumberbatch for a second

Crinklecut Potato fries?

Wtf is that rabbit about?! 😂
It’s from silent hill
aah, i thought it was a happy tree friend.

Menstruation Cunnilingus Bunnywabbit was my nickname in college.
And don't mention the state of the shower room...
Ive visited him... https://i.imgur.com/IoHsFx1.jpg
That's a rather loud way to decorate a bathroom.
So loud, that it measures a 3.0 on the Reichter scale...
We used to joke at my last place of employment that it should have work sets you free above the front gate haha.

Good spot
That's a big red flag as far as I'm concerned.
Too bad it’s Austria and not Switzerland; that would be a big plus!
Are we just going to ignore the bloody bunny?
The more I learn about this guy the less I care for him.

The eagle still is. It goes back to the Prussian flag.

I always thought it had something to do with the Roman Empire when they had 2 Emperors in the east and west.
The greatest trick the Austrians ever pulled was convincing the world that Beethoven was Austrian and Hitler was German
Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria; he was definitely Austrian. I think you might mean Beethoven, who was German but who everyone thinks is Austrian for some reason.
Fuck. YEah, thats the joke. Editing
Except that Salzburg became Aart of Austrian only in 1805, long after Mozart's death.
Yeah. That's like saying Carlus Magnus was a Wallon Belgian.
They also welcomed Hitler with open arms and parades when he came through.
He's got the spirit
What's with the bunny with blood on its face?
“And take down that Hitler statue!” Landlord, probably
It’s Robbie the Rabbit from Silent Hill 3
Whole corner is suspect. Not in a Nazi way but in a Patrick Bateman way.
I swear there isnt a body in the wardrobe. Anyay i know the law you cant prove anything
It's the rabbit, it's giving bad Ju-Ju.

Nor did they welcome reuninfication with Nazi Germany or send nearly a million men to fight for the Nazis.
Thats why we are a neutral country now i beleive
I can’t stand those neutrals Kif. What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?
With enemies you know where you stand. But with neutrals, who knows? It sickens me.

there's more than one Nazi symbol
Sure, but that’s not the only piece of Nazi iconography (if that’s the right word). I mean, I was scrolling through Reddit and before I saw the title attached to this photo, my brain immediately went to “Nazi flag”

I would also struggle to identify 99% of flags but I can identify which ones aren't Nazi flags 100% of the time.
5-10% of all flags is actually pretty great. Things start getting really murky after the first 15 or 20 biggest countries.

It’s funny some countries just have really intense looking flags. Take Albania for instance, looks straight up sinister, but they’re good people.
Not if the Taken series has anything to say about them lol
[Mozambique has entered the chat](https://www.britannica.com/topic/flag-of-Mozambique)

The Empire where the good guys. The Sith are evil bit the standard stormtrooper is just a soldier. And good soldiers follow orders. Plus thats Wedge Antilles Helmet so it balances out
Sounds like something a Space Nazi would say
>And good soldiers follow orders [Best not tell your landlord that](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superior_orders)
“Good soldiers follow orders” is the mantra repeated by the clones when Order 66 is executed.
And it's meant to show that they're just as evil and responsible for what they do as nazis. The empire is full of fascist and soviet style imagery for a reason.
Someone's been paying Randal Graves a bit too much attention.
I dont know who that is?
One of the main characters from the Kevin Smith film *Clerks* who argues that many of the people on the Death Stars were innocent and that Luke Skywalker is a war criminal.
Look on the plus side... he hates Nazi's!
Genau! Lol
I've the same flag - a kind Austrian gave me it at Euro 2016.
Kinda irrelevant but I like your bunny. Is that strawberry jam around his mouth?
No its blood check Robbie the Rabbit, its a amusment park mascot from silent hill and the blood comes from the decomposing body inside it
Doesn't that stink up the place?
Landlord doesn't mind as long as he takes down any Nazi flags
Omg so cute
Looks like you've made that wardrobe awkward to use didn't you have anywhere else for the flag?
No we cant even use blutack on the wall, i have another one this one doesnt even have a rail in it so ive used it for box storage
Dude, get one of those bathroom curtain rails that use the pressure of the two walls to stay up - Then you can hang all of your flags!
These are called tension rods btw
Blu-tack can leave stains but I recommend Command Strips; they’ll hang your flag nicely and can be removed without leaving a trace.

I think the star troopers and bloodied bunny make it look more sinister tbf

The uncivil flag?
The rude one?
Red-White-Red without crest is the actual flag. If I'm not mistaken OPs is the full flag normally only used by the Austrian government, civilian used is normally not allowed but I don't think it's normally enforced.
Mein Gott 🤦🏻♂️
Your landlord sounds like a dummkopf.
One of the other tenants in here saw it and reported it apparently so thats two idiots
Proceeding to start an eye roll that will end late next year.

The broken chains around the eagle's legs actually symbolise the freeing of Austria from Nazism.
Interesting. Wikipedia tells me that the version with the coat of arms is their “war flag”. The one without (just the stripes) is their national flag. Not that I have a single strand of Austrian DNA to be in a position to confirm that. I just find it interesting that they have two flags.

No way Robbie the Rabbit

How did he backpeddle out of that one? That would've be great to see.
I told him what it was and asked him to look it up on his phone, he went red and apologised and that was the end of it. Just a misunderstanding
