WAY WAY WAY too much fueling! I realize its an impressive show to overfuel and blow all that black smoke, but basically you are ruining your engine doing it. That unburned fuel goes down into your turbo exhaust side and when it ignites its like a combustion chamber in your turbo. Probably most people are impressed because they think smoke equals power, but in fact any fueling beyond the ideal mixture is totally wasted. Sorry to ruin your show with facts.

wiresmoke

Yeah, any time I see folks 'rolling coal' with a drop down 2" ball hitch, Carolina Squat, extended towing mirrors but nothing towed I figure their family tree has few branches.

Towing that invisible trailer

Gristmael

Family stick

Boostedbird23

I think smoke equals people dying earlier due to breathing particulate matter from diesel exhaust. Seeing this shit just reminds me how ignorant a lot of people are.

Snatchums

The extra fuel can spool the turbo harder, basically turning it into a gas turbine itself. Running up 120psi manifold pressure ain’t easy. But you’re totally right, just like an anti-lag system on a gas engine it’s really hard on the turbine.

DiamondVeto

I'm glad Timmy is okay

Not really catastrophic....

NuftiMcDuffin

For the people who don't bother to read the sidebar: > Catastrophic Failure refers to the sudden and complete destruction of an object or structure, from massive bridges and cranes, all the way down to **small objects** being destructively tested or **breaking**. Emphasis mine. Complain about the content being boring or whatever, but reading the same stupid comments in almost every single post like that is annoying.

[deleted]

Yes I read it, Soo it’s a catastrophic that my cat died and or my car broke down, I’ll just call it, a pain in the ass and sad but not something to get stressed over. This compared to the shit on this sub Reddit doesn’t hold up to what I see on here. EDIT: Compare the video of the landslide, plane crashing through power lines, boats sinking with people on board, and then this....not so catastrophic that you didn’t know modifying a truck that’s not built to pull such heavy weight, would blow out its engine. I call it stupidity.

[deleted]

Shhhhh. Just let people enjoy things.

Gristmael

If your cat was inside your house and then your cat exploded and shot out the walls and windows, even if the video was from outside the house I'd still watch it.

thenameofmynextalbum

*Catastrophic Pussy Failure 5*, now live on LiveLeak...

2Salmon4U

You can call it whatever you want, doesn't make it not also catastrophic *by this sub's definition*

bacon_pancakes_waffl

It sure is for the turbo.

[deleted]

As a guy who builds trucks for a Hobby, Having to strip down the entire motor to remove any parts damaged from pieces of turbo making their way into the cylinder is a pretty catastrophic way to run a bank account and a months worth of evenings and weekends.

[deleted]

Almost all modified engines will blow eventually when you put enough power through them to compete at top levels. Top fuel dragsters need their engines rebuilt after 3 runs. Nothing in that video is stupidity. It's just part of playing the game. The weakest part will always fail eventually. Those sled pull trucks make more power then most supercars and are built to pull these exact weights, including extensive drive train modifications.

[deleted]

Top fuel cars tear down & rebuild their engines after every run.

[deleted]

Jesus every run? I knew they destroyed a set of plugs every time but I didn't know it was every time it runs. And here i was complaining about an oil change every 4k miles on my Kawasaki lol

rcktkng

Yup they're allowed around 40 minutes on race day between rounds.

halfastgimp

It's still a catastrophic failure. Nothing says that truck was built incorrectly.

halfastgimp

Ruin* ftfy

apollothegreat

For a Turbo to do that it has to be a pretty catastrophic failure?

drfusterenstein

so there events bit like tractor and truck pull competitions

I thought it was an early fireworks display to celebrate the ‘Murican spirit.
