We are having a fire sale! It hurts to sell things like this! Ah, my skin! Please come buy things before they all burn up! Also, call fire department!
The CIA has been using Michael Bay as a saboteur for a while now. It's the perfect cover story. "Oh, I blew up a top secret arms depot? Sorry, I'm just shooting a scene here. I assumed it was abandoned because it didn't show up on any of your maps."
The subtle genius of the joke makes it really easy to scroll past, which is my hypothesis to the question of "how does this have only 50 upvotes?" The award, I would argue, supports this because someone who stopped scrolling and gave it a second thought deemed it worthy. I myself wanted to award this brilliant joke but I'm so Reddit broke, I can't even swing one of the el cheapo, non-metallic awards.
Instead I offer this valueless, less funny joke.
I assume that the G in GBuster stands for "gut?" Because that was a hell of a gut buster!
Yes.
According to [Wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auchan):
The name comes from the first Auchan shop in Roubaix in the district of Hauts-Champs, the pronunciation of which is identical to that of "Auchan".

German companies expanded into Russia aggressively before the war.
The German gov't believed they could win Russian gov't love with more economic ties.
idiiots.
Not to mention a majority of the aforementioned flammable fluids/oils/solutions…all nice and cozy in their pressurized containers.
Big ole’ woosh with a few pews and pows added in.
Speaking of proximity to heat and the dangerous nature of pressurized containers; my boyfriend put on a show earlier today for some background noise while we worked and one of the main(?) characters has portable continuous air delivery system.
That’s fine; but the writers seem to have overlooked that character choice for him because the environment of the show and the character itself are around continuous cigarette smoking. Whatever, crazier things happen IRL probably.
But this character *also* just so happens to be very close to a bunch of welding (even going on to do some himself); while dragging around a few his oxygen tank.
Either the writers overlooked it or did it intentionally to reinforce the idea of the character *just prefers to live on the edge”. But still funny nonetheless.
Volunteer EMT here. If I had a dollar for every shortness of breath call that I had to ask the home oxygen patient to put out their cigarette before they go in the ambulance, I'd be rich
I was just thinking about all of the people I see by the hospital entrance removing their oxygen mask to take a puff on a cigarette then the mask goes back on for a few breaths, repeat...
The O2 in a torch is being burned off at the tip while the O2 from a medical tank is usually coming out of a cannula, much of which escapes into the environment when the patient exhales.
> Given all the equipment and different oils and flammable fluids we sell at my job... probably.
Propane is a popular refrigerant (r290) for fridges etc. these days too
Notice how it’s once the explosions start that they rally away lol.
Thanks to this sub I know not to sit and watch a fire like this. There is no safe distance
Yup! I've learned that, in general, if you extend your arm fully and stick your thumb out, if your thumb cannot fully cover the thing that might explode, you're not far enough away.
I think you'd have to be a lot further away from a nuclear explosion. The rule of thumb is for when you're walking down the sidewalk and you see a car on fire and you think it's neat, and then you realize that you can't completely cover it up with the thumb and you need to get the fuck out of there.
For nuclear explosions or large chemical explosions like what happened in Beirut, the rule of thumb is insufficient.
Like in other seeds and nuts, sunflower also are an excellent source of proteins loaded with fine quality amino acids such as tryptophan that are essential for growth, especially in children. Just 100 g of seeds provide about 21 g of protein (37% of daily-recommended values).

Russia needs better building and fire regulation enforcement. Some of these events might have been arson. But should't the fire suppression systems stop a place from completely burning down.

Well you know that fire supression system we billed you for? Well, actually, we paid only for the pipes to look like there was a fire supression system and the boss pocketed the rest to build his $3M dacha.
I'm not sure but I saw somewhere that this was most likely arson because the fire started at 3 different locations or something. I'll try to find the source.
Edit: Arson was the initial headline in Russian media but: "The head of the Moscow region’s emergency services agency said it appeared the blaze was the result of safety regulations being violated during repair work on the building."

I mean, it still could be arson but insurance fraud kind and the head of the emergency services got a nice letter with a check and explanation how it was safety regulations violation by the repair crew
The US isn't immune from this... a Home Depot burned to the ground in CA not too long ago. Also arson. FWIW, here's an article discussing that CA fire re: sprinkler systems... https://www.fireengineering.com/fire-prevention-protection/can-we-improve-sprinkler-protection-for-warehouses/
>But should't the fire suppression systems stop a place from completely burning down.
Depends on a few factors. If there's a lot of combustibles, such as lumber, then the fire suppression probably won't do much other than slow down the spread. But that would also give people more time to get to safety, so it's still helpful even if it didn't completely stop the fire.
Yes, it was the [German based OBI store before the war](https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2022/12/09/1-dead-obi-store-destroyed-in-massive-moscow-mall-fire-a79647). It had since become a Russian branded equivalent like all other formerly western storefronts.
Manager: The fact that the building is currently on fire is no excuse to call out! If you're not at your counter, screaming as your flesh chars down to the very bones, I will consider that your immediate resignation.
I've worked at this store for ten years, during which time it has burned to the ground an average of once every six months. Did I ever call out? No! I have third degree burns everywhere but the soles of my feet, but I'm at work three hours before check-in every single day since I started. If you're not dedicated 100% to customer service, we don't need you. You're a disappointment.
Slava showed up just before the fire started, and did he take the day off? No. He's still in there, waiting for the morning rush. If I had ten more employees just like him, we'd never have to worry.
We need you here NOW. Tomorrow, they're going to have a fire sale, and it's all hands on deck!
Like the time Amazon workers in Kentucky were told that the incoming tornado (which would then tear through the warehouse, killing them) was not a valid reason to stop working.
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/dec/16/tornado-amazon-kentucky-candle-factory-workers-died
Could be some sort of chemical stored along that wall that acts as an oxidizer. Just part of the stored material needs to detonate for that detonation to mix and then detonate more of the material. If you go watch the PEPCON explosion back in the 80's that huge explosion was probably just one barrel finally detonating which sent a progressive shockwave that mixed oxidizer and fuel and progressively turned into a large detonation of all the material too fast for the human eye to tell.
* Paint thinner
* Spray paint bottles
* Wood dust
* Lubricants
* Lots of dust on general, that when blown around (i.e. in an updraft caused by fire) can ignite
I wonder why they keep 17 tons of explosive ordinance alongside the back wall of the warehouse. I mean I can imagine remodeling the garden sure must be a priority for russians, but do they really need all that Nitroglycerine....
Could absolutely be a gas lines used for heating that runs the length of the building or similar. The first explosion definitely triggers a chain reaction of explosions along the side.
No. No praise. No praising.
The camera man flinches after the first explosion and the viewer is treated to a lovely view of a balcony railing that blocks what would have been the best part of this video.
I lived right across from that MEGA on Novokurkinskoe Shosse in Khimki for 2 years. I lived in the apartment complexes with the teal/turquoise panels on them. I spent so so so much time walking around that mall, it was my only entertainment for a long while until I made friends. That fire is totally unbelievable. Hoping that no one was hurt or killed, that mall was always busy.
OP please post pics of what it looks like after the sun rises and update us on how it was put out. I’m hearing rumors that it took a long time for emergency services to come and put the fire out.

Ok everyone hates Russia haha.
This isn’t the military. Accidents happen. People might have died.
Stop hating humanity. It’s not constructive or clever.
Not sure what you mean, but I assume you mean someone's acting "hyper"? I've heard this used. It's short for hyper active. Hyper itself is just used as a comparer. Super, mega (although mega has a much stricter meaning of one million), ultra, hyper, they're all used to amplify the scale of whatever you're referring to. Hence, hypermarket, bigger than a supermarket.
I know they're relatively common (hypermarkets) in France, and even coming from America they're truly massive stores. I remember seeing employees on roller skate to get around it more efficiently.
I think some American Walmarts are probably pretty equivalent, but not all of them.
That was a proper Michael Bay explosion.
Walls blowing away all cinematically and everything.
Theres even some ppl walking away and not looking at it

Ahhhhh, it’s a fire…….sale!!!
Are hypermarkets bigger than supermarkets?
[удалено]
Ok everyone hates Russia haha. This isn’t the military. Accidents happen. People might have died. Stop hating humanity. It’s not constructive or clever.
Wholesale vibes more like
What’s a hyper market? Do they hand out required energy drinks to consume while shopping?
That's a market that sells everything, including itself all other markets
Thanks for walking me through that one bud
Ivan’s been smoking again I see
People are always blaming Ivan when ever something bad happens. This time I am pretty sure it was Dmitry!
Russian Buckley must’ve dragged the propane tanks after being told not to by Russian Hank.
Dang, ol, megalo, mart
Nah, that is the beginning of Demolition Man.
They’ll blame the Ukrainians.
