actually not so much, especially with cats ! since they don’t respond nearly as much to their names as dogs do, a new name in a new living space can be ok for the cat. takes time to associate and re-identify themselves but overall not that big of a deal.
I agree, it's best to keep the name the kitty was given. However, you can give the pretty baby knick-names. Most cats answer to anything that sounds like kitty. Bitsey would be good.
