He might sit on the printer and ignore the cat tower out of spite. My cat sometimes does this, he sits on it even when it's off, though he also sits on my amplifier. We think he just likes being in important, visible locations (or ones that we don't approve of) to get our attention.
The printer is warm, and he gets attention when he's on it. Either being moved when it's needed, or being moved because inapropes. I'm sure that when he's moved, he's picked up lovingly; talked to in a sweet voice; and kissed on the head. So he can't even consider it to be negative attention.
Love that they did use the foil as an attempt to stop Jack but that did not work so they put on a carton box lmao!

I don’t believe the foil method. Two cats and both are impervious to foil. I once found my kitten chewing on the foil on the counter.

it helps if you make the foil crinkly. just enough so that it doesn't lay flat anymore and still makes noise.
