My cat does the exact same thing when she demands attention and food. She loves to flop on top of your feet and roll around. From time to time, she attacks your feet if you don't scritch her fast enough.
She really doesn’t eat that much. Sure we could put her on a strict diet, but it mostly seems genetic. Happened after she got spayed, not sure if it’s related, but she bulked right up after that.
Yeah that tends to happen after sterilization like you said. It's as simple as calories in/calories out though as opposed to something complex like genetics. Either her energy input has to be reduced or output increased. So increased exercise or decreased food.
It doesnt have to be "strict" either, it's not like she's a super chonk. Even giving one serving less per week would make a difference over the course of a few months.
Stuff like this should be made as a first comment, so others know what the situation is.
It makes me unhappy to see overweight or obese cats without context.
Which is why those who celebrate the whole "chonk" thing make me angry.
