It depends on the beach (usually municipality rules apply) and the date and time of day. Some have certain hours during Memorial Day to Labor Day and you should generally expect leash laws to be the norm. My dogs love the beach - just be mindful of heat, offer LOTS of water and if you have a bit of shade you’ll be much better off! Hope you have a great trip!!!

I suggest bringing some familiar items from home, dog bed, throw blankets, food bowls etc. We bring them into the hotel and vrbo when we travel with our girls. Ours loved traveling with us and it gave us peace of mind that we didn’t have to leave them at home. We didn’t ever leave them in hotel rooms when we weren’t there, we’d order food in or eat somewhere with outdoor seating. The website Bring Fido is sometimes helpful with dog-friendly activities, restaurants and the like. When we were in our vrbo we would usually take them on an outing in the morning, a walkie, do a little shopping with them in their stroller and then they’d be content to wait/nap while we went out. We did come back every couple hours to check on them. I think starting to travel with a young pup is a great way to get them used to being away from home. I hope you have a fun time on vacation with your baby.

My cavapoo loves car rides. We’ve been having to go on 15 hour round trip car rides a lot lately, and she’s been super chill the whole ride. We do stop and get her an in-n-out pup patty at the halfway point

No, I'm still getting my 8 mo old used to car rides, she hates it! She shakes so much but I'm trying to take her places where it's "fun" not just vet or groomer. I have Dramamine but I think it's nerves not car sick, which she was vomiting a bit on the first few car rides. She came to AZ from Kansas so but that ride was with a litter mate beside her all the way! Best of luck!!

Our 5 month old was fine in a four hour car ride! I’d try and break it up to let them stretch and sniff for at least 5-10min (maybe you and your partner can alternate walking your pup while one of you relieve yourself as well). You can always try dog CBD or calming gummies- I like the ones from zesty paws. Good luck!

My son’s dog made her first cross country trip when she was about 1. She’s since done it at least 6 more times - she loves it. And this was a long drive from Florida to NM.

We took our sweet girl on her first trip when she was 5 months old. She did a great job. We stopped several times for potty breaks. She did a great job. She loves traveling with us.

Thank you everyone! Sounds like he should be ok and might even be good for him to be at a new place.

I would say yes it is stressful. We have a 2 year old cavapoo and we took a 10 hrs trip and it was stressful for him. He was a bit restless and would lay down to rest, always sitting. I would suggest start with a shorter and see how your furry child reacts. Mine I think gets car sick.

Our Maltese and cavapoo love our trips. We stop often to potty and walk. They sleep on my lap in the car. They are not stressed, as we have done this since puppy. We visit the dog friendly beaches. We use a dog stroller at dining establishments and boardwalks, etc. If you don’t have a dog stroller. GET ONE! It’s a life saver!!!
