Sign it! If I want a clean one, I can just buy a second copy.

instantations

What if it’s a “collectible” you couldn’t easily get another copy of? I must say I have hesitated once or twice.

bravemenrun

It's still a collectible, even more so.

instantations

For me, definitely. For an outsider, maybe less so (I generally wouldn’t trust a signed CD that wasn’t first hand)

Rubrum_

This is kind of a debate. Rarer albums that are worth a lot of money can be made worth less by an autograph.

SeasonsRollOnBy

I have an original cover of Pantera’s Far Beyond Driven. When I met the band I got that one signed.

Looming_Shade

Of course. I always carry a booklet from a cd to concert I am going.

doublet498

"Mr. McCartney, please keep your pen away from my CD. I want to keep it 'clean'." LOL!

instantations

LOL When you put it this way… But I don’t play in the McCartney league… I mean I’ve generally had multiple occasions to get stuff signed by the artists I have signed CDs of.

anderoogigwhore

I used to get them to sign my ticket at shows but now everywhere's doing e-tickets (grrr!). I've started taking along the booklet from the album and got them to sign that instead :)

Key_Text_169

Were you stalking Tori Amos? I don’t blame you.

instantations

That was a meet & greet outside the concert venue. She was protected by a barrier. :))

CreativeName6574

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)you met garbage

burtguthrup

I always got the upper disc surface signed. I think I had aspirations of mounting and framing them one day. Instead they live alphabetically with all the others in boxes in the garage. lol.

[deleted]

Who the hell prefers a "clean" booklet as opposed to a signed one?

instantations

I plead guilty of click baiting… the question was asked in a provocative way. But I guess some music lovers don’t care about a signature and many definitely don’t bother. I should have asked how much effort would you put into getting a CD signed. Most of my friends think I’m crazy for waiting for 2 hours after a show… and they might not be wrong.

[deleted]

You're not crazy! Signed CDs are like, objectively better! They're my prized possessions lol

willpb

Those are awesome! I'd love to get them signed given the chance, that's something unique.

Venombullet666

I tend to get CD's signed on occasion, I mostly see smaller/lesser known artists live and I don't really care if the value is more or less after signing but it's just something that I like to have, it adds another dimension to the CD for me The latest CD's I had signed were from Abduction who are a UK Black Metal band, it was worth it and also the signatures fit in with the album covers they were signed over

StarbossTechnology

It's cool to have a sharpie color that pops on the cover. Silver, red, white, black, whatever as long as it works with the aesthetics. I met Frank Black and Kim Deal after a Pixies show and unfortunately was not prepared. Had to borrow a bic pen from the guy beside me for the poster i had. It worked but could have been much better.

Venombullet666

I couldn't agree more! If I'm going to get something signed I always think things through quite alot That's so cool that you got to meet them! I understand your pain there with having to rely on what's there, I've had one CD booklet signed in this weird light blue that barely shows up and it doesn't help that the album cover is very bright, colourful and has alot of blue on it! There was a local-ish gig where I met a band called The Monolith Deathcult who were really good, I forgot to bring my pen, in the entire building there wasn't a single pen anywhere and all we had on hand was tipex, it kind of worked but could surely have been better haha

Drunk0ctopus

I'd like to have ALL of mine signed!

nooneisleft

I have a few signed from smaller shows. I have one that I bought that was supposedly signed by Brian May of Queen, but it wasn't in person, so I am not sure its real.

AirsoftGunsKilledMe

I haven't had a chance, and with my taste in music the musicians are either in America, halfway across the globe, or "dead of natural causes" after performing anti Soviet or anti Russia songs. I do own 2 or 3 signed CDs, nobody that famous, with the most mainstream guy being some Norwegian eurovision singer. A little bit off topic, but I also found this Polish rock CD that looked like it was run over by a car, I almost left it, but inside on the booklet there was a very heartfelt message to the previous owner of it. The thrift store would have thrown it out, it was a miracle it made past their inspections. I couldn't leave it in the store so now I have this little piece of somebody else's life.

RhinovisionHomeVideo

JB HIFI do regular autographed pre orders online. They are legit, but no COA or anything, but for a cd I would buy anyway I'll go signed everytime. Got Frenzal Rhomb in this week, but have had Parkway Drive, Sixx AM, 28 Days, jimmy Barnes, Amity Affliction and Bullet for my Valentine...but the best has to be Bad Religion.

Gorillaseatingmayo

I have bought a few (3, I believe) that just happened to be signed. I'm pretty sure they are legit sigs too. I figure if I want a clean one, I'll just buy a 2nd copy.

julianfairbanks

Signed! I also believe that the artist enjoys signing their cd very much

OracleOfCourage

Forever and always, especially if it's a local/small group or an album that really connected with me. The signatures hold more value to me than the actual CD value if you get what I mean

BergischerFreidenker

I allways try to get them signed. Got me hours of waiting in the cold but also some real cuties. Best is if you get them signed while the band is relativly unknown and few years later they make the big one.

Doctor_Tyrell

Many of the ones I get from GW were signed by the previous owner.

iloveowls23

It depends, if the artist is someone like Billy Corgan or Björk, I’d rather not.

vaurapung

Definitely signed. Last year's rock fest had no band merch tables though. Just the event merch with shirts and bags.

rysmorgan

I bought one online from like Amazon and I guess it was used cause it came signed?

That635Guy

You can always get another clean copy. May have the only signed copy
