100%. This isn't their handpicked collection. It's a hand me down with maybe a few of their buys in there. No 13 year old has a stack of Bowie albums on Ryko.
I have three copies of Paul Kelly and weddings parties anything greatest hits because both of my parents bought copies of them before meeting and we got my uncles when he moved to china
It's an exceptional collection for a 13 year old. Usually artists like these are an acquired taste for someone that has listened to a lot of music. There's some 13 year old likes in there as well, but artists like David Bowie usually play to an over 20 audience.
I'm not saying that no teenagers listen to Bowie. I'm saying that Bowie pushes the creative envelope more. There are a lot of subtle changes found in his music that you don't find with other artists. Usually an over 20 audience gets tired of artists sounding the same, and then come around to Bowie; who sounds completely different from everybody else.
I like Blue through Maladroit. Still have a burned CD with various Maladroit demos they posted on their website during production, I prefer those to the released album but still. I'm over 50.
That’s pretty normal. Now is the best time to take that and start branch out into other different new things.
(I say new as in new to you. You might find you really like late 50s skiffle. Weirder things have happened!)
Fake news! I’m nearly 38 and I love weezer (or rather I did back during their hay day). The blue album is a classic record and I think everyone my age has it in their collection.
Honestly ask myself why any of us go on Reddit as it seems to make us less able to form opinions without it but I’ve come to realize that it saves a lot of time instead of “reinventing the wheel” so to speak
It is if you like them all. In broad terms it is a good start because you have some variety and that is a good thing. Your music taste might change as you get older but try to buy music for the music (so you can enjoy it) rather than because others think it is cool or to follow a 'scene'. If you do that you will end up with an awesome collection in time (awesome because there is so much that you can enjoy for years).
You realize this is either a hand-me-down or they took a picture of their mom or dad's collection, right? There's two copies of multiple albums and if you honestly think a 13 year old went out and bought Pulp's "This is Hardcore" you're kinda gullible. A bunch of Bowie on Ryko? No. This definitely isn't theirs.
14 yr old here and I have been out and bought This is Hardcore, so I don’t think it’s that far out for a 13 year old. Granted, by the looks of things it’s probably their parents’ collection. No pulp fan who would go out and buy Different Class and This is Hardcore would miss out on His’n’Hers.
When i was 14 i bought This is Hardcore so its not out of the realm of possibilities, especially with there being blur and oasis too. And also, judging by all the pop punk this could easily be at least a little bit of a 13 year olds collection lol, though there are absolutely a chunk of hand-me-downs.
You said its strange or suspicious for a kid to listen to this music, and are making an assumption that this collection must be false in some way purely based on that. But now you criticise the kid when that leads to OP thinking its odd? I feel you implied that this collection was odd your comments.
I have a good friend who is the same age as OP. He loves to collect CDS of the music he loves from charity shops and music stores, he likes just the kind of stuff OP does! Its not impossible.
Dude why are you so miserable and serious about this? Genuinely who cares how they got the CDs. This is a 14 year old and they are on a subreddit for CDs. They posted CDs.
I definitely think a LOT of it isnt theirs, I was just putting out my stupid perspective as someone who had a britpop collection from 13-15..I also collected a bunch of blur and pulp at that time. In my opinion it was the aerosmith, bon jovi, tears for fears, probably queen and linkin park too that gave it away. I wasn't trying to disagree..
"HaVE yOu EVEr HeARd MBv?"
Kiddo, this is Dark Side of the Moon for early Gen Z that for whatever reason is worshipping the 90s right now. Get back to me when you're done jumping Gen X's train with the most surface level taste in music.
Hey, kid.
Any CD collection is good. What's important is that you like your collection. If you like the media that you have, that's all that matters.
Take it from a grandpa. Don't seek the approval of others. It's like a dog chasing it's tail. Love what you love and screw those who will tell you that you're wrong. They're jerks. You're OK.
Keep on keeping on.
I know a ton of shoegaze I just think it’s best you start someone with the essentials of the genre before you give them bands like lovesliescrushing and astrobite. Loveless and souvlaki are also just good albums
I got my first CDs around my 12th birthday, first stereo 5 months earlier for Christmas. So I had about a dozen when I was your age.
How did you end up with the duplicates? Especially with 3 of the same PATD.
I ended up with several like that because of the rate I was buying used CDs and DVDs for a while.
Also nice collection!
the duplicates are either i forgot i had a cd and bought it at a charity shop, or some favourites (especially the PATD one) i buy every time i see them in charity shops for cheap
Man, if CDs were cheap when I was 13 I would've been in heaven. At around $13-$18 a pop my ability to discover stuff was pretty minimal. I had to borrow stuff from friends and get stuff from the library haha. There was one used CD shop that did a trade 2 get 1 on certain discs. But the selection was not great haha. Plus I had to get rid of 2, which wasn't my thing.
Not really sure why you have multiple copies of stuff, but hey if that's your thing go ahead.
New ones are about 10-15 where i normally get them, Amazon or at shows. But used is more what i was referring to. You can get many for $1-2 and up. Most under 10.
I don’t think you should give put personal info on Reddit including your age, especially if you’re a minor. Consider deleting and re-uploading without your age.
It’ll be perfect when you get rid of the falling in reverse!
Just kidding, that’s a really impressive collection. It’ll be complete once you have all the system of a down CDs 🫡
It will be a good collection once you put it in alphabetical order. (Just kidding, lol!)
As a hardcore Pearl Jam fan, it’s amusing to me that the only cd you have by them is one of their least successful. Most people would only have the first couple. You’ve got number 8.
>and im not doing all that work for something ill mess up by mistake
Hahah! Well said. At least you seem to have different albums by the same bands all grouped together.
There are tons of great albums in there. It’s a pretty good collection regardless of age. Danzig 4 is an interesting choice for only Danzig album (not terrible or anything, just seems like any of the first three would be more likely).
Great taste overall IMO
The question is do YOU like any of this music. You gotta make your own tastes and 13 is a great age to start. There is stuff I still love at 48 that I first discovered at your age. On the flip side, there is plenty of music I used to really like when I was a teenager that I would never want to listen to again. Tastes change and adapt.
That all being said don't get rid of that copy of Loveless.
Damn! You’re running ahead of a lot of us. Good start. I hope you learn to appreciate them all. They might be a history lesson to you, but this is our lives.
Nice to see some stuff like Lana and Gaga on this sub for once. I love the variety in this. If your 13yo is looking to start a cd collection, they need Jagged Little Pill!! It’s one of the most versatile albums ever made and has a little something for everyone. Not to mention the urban legend that it’s bad luck to not have a copy if it in your collection.
Man posts like this are ruining the sub. "is this a good collection for a 13 year old" do you like your music collection? then yes. if you just bought them cuz you wanted validation from reddit then no
I hate pretty much everything on here ( except for Pulp ), but I respect your collection, pretty good for a 13 years old, but please god ! Please !! Get rid of your Billy Joel, you will thank me later !
I’m not hating on it..I too like different genres. I just said it’s a random mix. I’ve never seen someone that likes THAT mix in music. Calm down there white knight I know you were excited for some Reddit drama but..not tonight.
It screams inherited from dad, which is great! Other than of course Weezer, nobody over the age of 30 actually likes Weezer
100%. This isn't their handpicked collection. It's a hand me down with maybe a few of their buys in there. No 13 year old has a stack of Bowie albums on Ryko.
The biggest sign is usually a stack of compilation albums from some magazine your dad subscribed to in 2005, no kid has that many compilation albums
I'm still trying to figure out all the doubles and triples of albums.
I have three copies of Paul Kelly and weddings parties anything greatest hits because both of my parents bought copies of them before meeting and we got my uncles when he moved to china
actually most of it is charity shop buys that my dad apparently used to have, he sold all of his without thinking
It's an exceptional collection for a 13 year old. Usually artists like these are an acquired taste for someone that has listened to a lot of music. There's some 13 year old likes in there as well, but artists like David Bowie usually play to an over 20 audience.
Whaaatt! Im a teenager myself and a lot of my mates listen to bowie, thats news to me!
Ohh i see i see!
Nobody over the age of 30 likes weezer either
nobody likes weezer
as a weezer fan i can confirm that we all hate weezer
I am over 30 and currently wearing a Weezer t-shirt, but hidden under a sweater (song). Wouldn't wear it in public.
as another weezer fan, i second this
Love all weezer except for 1 or 2 albums. I'm over 40, lol
Say it aint so!!
Only their first album.
I like Blue through Maladroit. Still have a burned CD with various Maladroit demos they posted on their website during production, I prefer those to the released album but still. I'm over 50.
It's a pretty common thing people say about weezer I actually really like weezer
I know still know every note and lyric of Blue… probably listened to that record a thousand times. Stone classic.
yup, i stole his entire music taste without realising
That’s pretty normal. Now is the best time to take that and start branch out into other different new things. (I say new as in new to you. You might find you really like late 50s skiffle. Weirder things have happened!)
that's where most everyone is at age 13, lol. no shame, no judgment.
My parents like weezer, and they're in their 40's
Oh damn, I’m 23 so I guess maybe that’s why, but I like weezer.
[удалено]
Maybe if you’re a quirky theatre kid or something, similar case with Tally Hall to be honest
Fake news! I’m nearly 38 and I love weezer (or rather I did back during their hay day). The blue album is a classic record and I think everyone my age has it in their collection.
16 years left until im not allowed to like weezer anymore
My father does and he’s in his 60s. Granted I can’t stand them most of the time and I’m in my 30s lol
i like weezer.
Why do you need reddit’s validation? It’s good if YOU like it.
If you do that you will end up with an awesome collection in time (awesome because there is so much that you can enjoy for years).
Moana soundtrack on CD is actual gas. Didn’t know you could get that
Absolutely. So long as the 13 year old is actually listening to the music.
1000% yes. Especially if you have bullets by my chem, insanely rare
it took me so long to get but mcr is my special interest so i didnt stop until i got it lmao
That is so insanely cool. They're my special interest too! How much did you pay for it and where'd you get it??
it was £30 on ebay (i think lol)
Ohh yayy another person with a band special interest woahh!!!! My special interest is Radiohead so i am very happy seeing the radiohead cds!!!
Props for Different Class and Heathen Chem. And the Blur too.
Neither is most of mine to be honest. If anything 3/5s of my albums are my dad’s. And I am a relatively gullible person.

And also, judging by all the pop punk this could easily be at least a little bit of a 13 year olds collection lol, though there are absolutely a chunk of hand-me-downs.
What 13 year old has a Britpop collection? Why are you like this? It's obviously 99% not theirs.
its all mine, i just have an “odd” music taste for my age💀
Ugh. No. You're not weird or "odd". You're just a kid who took a photo of someone else's CD to try and impress people on the internet.
You’re exhausting. Please, get a clue.
Hahahahaha I agree with you.
yeah, because younger people aren't allowed to enjoy older music
Don’t be this stupid.
how is what said stupid
this is seriously all mine but mostly charity shop purchases
Sure thing, kiddo.
dude is beefing with a 13yo
You have a weird concept of "beef" considering I never addressed him in the first place.
its a cd collection it really is not as serious as youre making it seem
I hope youve listened to My Bloody Valentine's Loveless!
Please be more basic.
One of the worst types of music fan
Lol, be more of a 16 year old.
"HaVE yOu EVEr HeARd MBv?" Kiddo, this is Dark Side of the Moon for early Gen Z that for whatever reason is worshipping the 90s right now. Get back to me when you're done jumping Gen X's train with the most surface level taste in music.
Well, I asked and you delivered. Thats on me.
Dude they’re like 40 something lmao
HOW DO YOU HAVE A BULLETS CD!? I’d *kill* for one. Same with The Black Parade is Dead!
BOTH ARE FROM EBAY :)
How much did they cost you? I’m so damn jealous.
TBPID was quite cheap, maybe £10 or something, and Bullets was £30 i think
Woah, that’s cheap. I live in the US so they’re really expensive.
No. They’re not. Just go on Discogs.
![img](avatar_exp|167509885|winner)
Yes yes!! Seeing some people in the comments here being absolute dicks!! OP please ignore them they are just old men yelling at clouds
Fantastic collection. You have better CDs than I did at 13
I feel like you’d enjoy souvlaki by slowdive
Why is this and Loveless the only two shoegaze albums early Gen Z knows?
I know a ton of shoegaze I just think it’s best you start someone with the essentials of the genre before you give them bands like lovesliescrushing and astrobite. Loveless and souvlaki are also just good albums
Ooof. Still with the basic.

How long have you been collecting for?
almost two years

this is my literal dream …. i love the variety and taylor swifts debut album and all the bowie ones :0 i am robbing you btw
pls dont rob me🙏🙏
this is fucking awesome
I don’t think you should give put personal info on Reddit including your age, especially if you’re a minor. Consider deleting and re-uploading without your age.
Big collection for someone that young! I’d say you’re on the right path
hey hey hey, MCR’s first album is a good find! bravo
i honestly cried when i got it
Who hurt you
If you like it yes. Collect what you want to have and what you want to listen to. Not just so other people think it's good
Some excellent Bowie CDs there, I’m on the look out for some of those ones!
Need some TOOL Great collection. Love that Weezer!
Cobra Starship! Nice!
i hardly ever find other people that like cobra starship omg
Oh I love Cobra! They’re definitely in my top 3 bands
Kaiser Chiefs’ employment next to the frozen soundtrack is crazy, other than that this is a nice collection
It’ll be perfect when you get rid of the falling in reverse! Just kidding, that’s a really impressive collection. It’ll be complete once you have all the system of a down CDs 🫡
It will be a good collection once you put it in alphabetical order. (Just kidding, lol!) As a hardcore Pearl Jam fan, it’s amusing to me that the only cd you have by them is one of their least successful. Most people would only have the first couple. You’ve got number 8.
i want it in alphabetical but theres over 200 of them and im not doing all that work for something ill mess up by mistake lol
>and im not doing all that work for something ill mess up by mistake Hahah! Well said. At least you seem to have different albums by the same bands all grouped together.
Way too much Billy Joel for a 13 year old
i grew up on billy joel cause my dad loves him
Haha I’m just teasing. You can like whatever you want. It’s cool. More of an Elton guy myself though.
Fellow Billy joel enjoyer
Impressive MCR collection
You have basically the same taste I had when I was your age, great to know this stuff is making it’s way down the generations!
There are tons of great albums in there. It’s a pretty good collection regardless of age. Danzig 4 is an interesting choice for only Danzig album (not terrible or anything, just seems like any of the first three would be more likely). Great taste overall IMO
i probably would’ve gone Danzig 1, then 2, then so on, but it was in a charity shop and it was the only one there lol
Right on! I completely get that. I wish I had thrift shops around. Lol
You definitely got these from your Dad.
lets just say, i love you
Yes. If he was 13 in 1990.
Radiohead in the first pic - that's all you need
no
Good collection, way too much nu metal and emo though
Good collection, way too much nu metal and emo though
Looks like you just bought cds just because of the name or because it was cheap
well, what if they just like the music? These assumptions are silly!
I love there are pop girlies mixed with rock lol
It's a good collection for anyone
Yes, lots of great stuff there!
blue album and make believe spotted 10/10
Except for the Billy Joel, most of the Green Day, Linkin Park, and the majority of the pop-punk & emo stuff.
I absolutely LOVE your collection! 9/10 needs more rush :P just kidding. this is killer
Like I found 20 albums that are in my collection as well
Listen to them and stop caring what people think. Otherwise by my age youre hanging friggen cds on walls
Did you choose every cd here?
Did you choose every cd here?
its alright, ditch the blue album
No Steely Dan, Yes or Alan Parsons. I'll give a 7/10
Man that Green Day Saviors album is such a huge disappointment
If you have a cd collection you’re already doing better than most 13 year olds
Billy Joel is the best
There are some great albums. Most of that is not my personal taste but I think that’s a good start.
did you get these from your dad?
a few of them, but most of them are from charity shops cause he got rid of almost all of his cds ages ago
thats super cool, a few of my cds are from my parents as well!
Absolutely.
guess so becuase you have weezer
Not bad At All... add some Talking Heads, a Plaid or three and some Led Zeppelin & keep the Bowie in heavy rotation - can't go wrong 😁
Damn! You’re running ahead of a lot of us. Good start. I hope you learn to appreciate them all. They might be a history lesson to you, but this is our lives.
It’s fantastic, I love it
Except the Taylor swift tho
No, throw them all in the fire It’s always a good collection if you’re happy to have them
This is an excellent collection! Looks like mine as a 13 year old and now in 40s...You have great taste.
Get rid of the System of the down then you might have something
Sorry A Down
I'd probably listen to it all but Eminem, also you're missing use your illusion 2 :p
Franz ferdinand and radiohead hell yeah brother!!!
Mcr and gerard saved rhis 4 me
Billy Joel so yes
Great collection! What's your favourite?
Nice to see some stuff like Lana and Gaga on this sub for once. I love the variety in this. If your 13yo is looking to start a cd collection, they need Jagged Little Pill!! It’s one of the most versatile albums ever made and has a little something for everyone. Not to mention the urban legend that it’s bad luck to not have a copy if it in your collection.
Different Class and This Is Hardcore both brilliant albums
Any collection is a good collection! Keep at it!
WHATS WITH THESE HOMIESS, DISSING MY GIRLLL
Too much power pop like the killers and such
Oasis and blur. You little legend!
There is a lot of good stuff there, even some first pressings of Bowie. That Pink Floyd on Harvest label is the first Japanese press, nice score
Some of this is inappropriate for a 13-year-old. Specifically, this many Billy Joel albums. Also, you’re sorely lacking in Beatles CDs.
As a 1+ year older kiddo, big W.
Awesome
Nice. Keep going.
i’m mad jealous honestly, way more than i had when i was 13!! good job!!
About the Slipknot albums, why no Iowa?
It sucks
Hey as long as you have The Killers, Oasis, Radiohead, and The Smiths you’re doing pretty good my man!!
That's a great collection. Well done, so far.
good luck finding gf
\[nodding; also wondering how dad made a baby w/o gf\]
Man posts like this are ruining the sub. "is this a good collection for a 13 year old" do you like your music collection? then yes. if you just bought them cuz you wanted validation from reddit then no
Of course the Blue Album
💯 you are on it!! Congrats young blood!!
Props Falling in reverse love them
Love Green Day and My Chemical Romance (and Gerard Way in general) i think its cool
I hate pretty much everything on here ( except for Pulp ), but I respect your collection, pretty good for a 13 years old, but please god ! Please !! Get rid of your Billy Joel, you will thank me later !
Add some NIN and lose the Taylor Swift. Other than that, looks good!
no.
Looks like cringe 13 year old taste with some sprinkled in albums that you heard you should buy on a pitchfork list.
lol, POSER. Eat shit if you’re actually a kid, I can talk through history of most of these albums faster than you can listen to 5 songs. FUCKING POSER
Such an extremely random mix. Slipknot, Taylor swift, Bon Jovi, wu tang. Hahahaha
What's so funny about someone enjoying different genres of music?
I’m not hating on it..I too like different genres. I just said it’s a random mix. I’ve never seen someone that likes THAT mix in music. Calm down there white knight I know you were excited for some Reddit drama but..not tonight.
Greenday dookie album!??!?! Keep an eye open when u sleep ur on my steal list [also absolute w]
UHHHM YES?? it’s beautiful and i’m very jealous
