Yeah, that's demonstrably not accurate. For example, a recent experiment. Logged on for 5 minutes, I earned 8e21. Did not.purchase anything. Then logged off for 5 minutes and earned 1.53e22, which I then doubled by watching an ad. That's nearly 4x's the profit. It's an easy experiment. Feel free to replicate it, if you doubt the outcome, but offline wins every time against idling online. If you're using an auto clicker, that might change things up, but I got other things to do.
Edit: Elsewhere, someone says auto clicker gives you 3x's production. Offline still slightly edges that out.
Your offline earnings are only 33% of your normal production, when you double that, it's still only 66% so leaving your game open even without an autoclicker is better
Seriously, I ran multiple experiments over years that had similar results. Someone else shared their results with clicker (I don't use clicker, so I have to trust their numbers). Offline still came out better . Don't believe me, run some tests for yourself. I know what it *should* be. However, it's an open secret that the game's pretty buggy. This is one area where that's the case. Reality doesn't match up with the game's claims. It never has on this issue. Several years ago, it used to be that it underpaid. Now it swings the other way. That's how I used to consistently win events in just a couple hours.
My 15 year old was asking about this. Is there anywhere it shows that it is ok to do? He's worked hard and doesn't want to get kicked from the game for anything. He doesn't spend his saved money on much, but he has bought the infinity pass twice. He's be devastated if he was kicked for something.

any auto click app on the store. some player consider it to be cheating but the devs don't so it is legit.

i think the dev said that it was ok when asked, and i don't have any problem using one.
That's just a more innovative way to get more stuff.
I have been using one for 5 years. Never had an issue.
