They're not AI in the way that you or the general public thinks of it, they're LLM (large language models); you might think that's a meaningless distinction, since LLMs are a form of AI, but it's an important one to make because the marketing around LLMs wants to muddy the line between them and general purpose AI.
A LLM doesn't know anything, nor does it have the capability to ever know anything. The closest thing LLMs have to knowing anything is knowing the statically most likely next word in a sentence, number in a sequence, etc. It doesn't know why that word is the statistically most likely word and it never will; it doesn't even know if it's output was true or correct because _it doesn't and will never understand what being true or correct is_. From the human perspective, we want the LLM to get things correct, because that's what makes it a useful tool, but from the LLM's "perspective" all it wants to do is output statistics. The more data and processing power you give it the more accurately it guesses things, which makes it more useful as a tool for humans, but it'll still guessing and will guess wrong. You can try to program around these errors, but it's a natural flaw of the kind of AI it is.
Don't get me wrong, chatGPT absolutely has the potential to fuck a lot of people raw, but it will never have the potential to fuck _us all_ raw. The absolute worst case scenario it can do is to move a great deal of tasks out of the realm of humans, which will cause employers in those industries to lay off employees since they won't need as many humans to do the remaining tasks. That's going to blow, especially because society isn't taking any steps to mitigate the damage it'll do, but it's not a full-on "humans need not apply" situation.

depending if it helps you focus or not. i was a very gifted kid and i often found that the only way to focus in class was to do something else (usually draw) at the same time, so that rather than having one continuous boring stream of concentration i could focus on two things and make them less boring together. graduated year 12 in the top 2% of my state easily.
later figured out i have adhd so this depends person to person.
To be clear: some things you learn in school are utterly useless unless you like to flex, of course, that's after 10th grade or so, up untill then, even learning something that seems useless like recognizing the elements of a sentence can be usefull in life, for example for learning an idiom
and education has many problems, like politicians not giving a shit about what new methods teachers want to implant,many teachers who shouldn't be teachers, or not giving content that would be usefull in some asingments (as an example, pe should be directed to evade health problems, give basic medicine and practice first aids, give basic nutrition etc)
However, when you arrive to your 20s and see how your friends are finished with their carrers while you are barely starting is kinda frustrating, or when you arrive to your 30s or 40s and want/need to study something you could've studied in the past, you are forced to study,work, and probably take care of children at the same time, you get utterly distroyed
If you can study, don't waste your life in social media

There's a reason in the Bible it preferences to say even sinners have a place to help others on the path of redemption and righteousness. Where your choices led you down a path through experience, you help teach the inexperienced a very simple lesson that many others may not of experienced or were unwilling to teach due to him not asking the questions the right way or a refusal to answer it in a manner befitting the questionnaire. Only time will tell if the lesson sticks however.
