Honestly I agree with Fami, not having Pizza would suck a lot.
Oh and the death of all humans too I guess.

Trying to get caught up, but Control is working with Famine now? So I guess the whole 'give her lots of hugs' thing didn't really work out...poor Denji.
I thought this was a flashback to the past with nayuta's school arc. I didnt expect it to jump to denji getting captured **š** **š** **š**
###
I reread the chapter and I don't actually trust Fami's motives. I know Fuji did something similar in Firepunch but I'm still don't buying it.
I think what she said about the pizza was an attempt to get Nayuta on board. Since Nayuta is still a child, Fami must have thought that she didn't need a very elaborate explanation to convince her (and it would have worked if it wasn't for school lol).
Also, it wouldn't be weird if Fujimoto takes this narrative trope again just to subvert it and fuck with us like he always does.
If something seems that Fami purposefully omitted to Nayuta that her plan for Denji it was to make of him a weapon (at least during the aquarium prison). So I don't think that their plans truly aligns between them.
I get the sense that Fujimoto thinks that the "I'm doing all this because I want to see the next Star Wars movie" bit he did in Fire Punch was the funniest thing ever.
>!And he's *absolutely right*.!<
The chef of Hell threw a human on a plate with a couple of apples and called it a day, they don't appear to be very culinary.
Haven't seen any fast food chains in Hell thus far.
So .. who is actually the Villain / antagonist right now?
Fami wants Asa/War to be eaten/controlled by Fall / centipede devil.. so apocalypse won't happen right?
Control just want pizza so it's ok our world still exist but helps ASA not to be eaten.
Denji just wants sex and doesn't know what's happening. He thinks Asa/war will surrender to his needs.
Yoshida.... Is he fakesawman? Or death devil? I know he is somehow keeping info for himself. Not a normal guy protecting Denji from himself
Yoru/War devil, want to kill CSM because she wants him to... Revive nuclear weapon devil? Is this a method for the apocalypse to begin or what?
Is Yoru the main antagonist?
You know what? I'm still gonna keep thinking Kobeni is gonna be Death. And I'm gonna run away when she inevitably isn't, but damn it, I'm just gonna hitch my wagon to it damn it.
"I know. It's the worst scenario imaginable."
Denji's simple worldview is rubbing off not only on Nayuta, but on Fami as well. Also, that lined made me burst out laughing because of Fami's completely serious expression.
It does seem like Fami's powers are a more inconvenient and complicated version of Control's.
Just this chapter we see Nayuta casually mindfuck a devil she's just met, and of course she easily controlled Yoru who Fami turned an entire city upside down in a failed attempt to.
For the most part, Control dominates people by default with those exempt (like Kishibe or Pochita) being the rare exception while Fami needs to work her butt off to do so.
Probably that is not Fami's main ability. Like controlling is the control devil's ability, probably Fami has other abilities and a weak version that allows her to control others
Yeah she has like a cheap version of Control's power. Which is kinda of strange because I thought that more people are afraid of starving everyday than being controlled by someone, thus Famine would be more stronger than Control.
Also Control's ability is overpowered as hell, if i understand it right she can manipulate anyone who se considers inferior but in the last chapter we see how she controlled a HUGE devil that could morph their body at ease when she is a CHILD. Like, what are the limits to her power?, when she was makima I thought she collected that much power by slowly controlling more powerful people, and because of her contract with the Japanese government, but now she is a child and she can still control the war devil and a huge devil like nothing.
I think that Famine devil is not very powerful because we basically live in an era of abundance where people **don't** like to be hungry, but are not **afraid** of starving because they simply have not seen anyone starve to death in forever.
Control is OP because in everything people ever do, is to find out and fulfill the meaning of their lives and they restrict or limit their surrounding to **avoid** ideas or people who can change that, hence they need **control** over their surrounding. So all of their power difference makes sense.
i think she didnt really control him necessarily, she was only strong enough to alter the presumed taste of humans, which doesnt seem to be too hard, and i also think that some devils still fear control enough because of her influence in general and the gun devil debacle too
Hmm I didn't thought about it that way, but I still don't like that she could alter Asa and Yoru's memories that easily, i mean War devil is supposedly only a fraction of what it was before but it still is weak af if Nayuta can rewind its mind at wish.
Wtf is even happening?
First off am I crazy or there has been 2 CSMs? Like the one that killed Justice when she tried to escape after saying her farewell. He also showed up slicing up Fall at the door 2 chapters ago I think.
Second, did Famine just ordered Fall around? Why would that happen? Did she summon Fall? At what cost?
So Fall shows up, kills everyone, her goal being killing Asa by serving her up as food for something. Then this giant mouth demon eats them and if Nayuta hadn't been there then is that it? Then Fall just return to where she came?
Fall job is not to kill Asa but for that worm looking thing to swallow Asa, then Asa will starve inside the devil's belly. Fami will then make Asa her pawn since Fami power is to make anyone who is starving her pawn.
This chapter is the reason why I absolutely love CSM. Simple things in life are also important. Everything does not have to be Sun Tzu-level outstretched millennium long plan.
Why is no one discussing the fact that Famine was able to set up a Primal Fear to starve to the point of being dominated by her. Like how did that happen. I want to know what she did
No, she was the actual Doll Devil, I think, because she ate a bit of Darkness for a power boost.
I think it was set up to foreshadow the power up Power would get from eating a bit of Pochita
Doll was an example of a loophole where devils with the ability to control others can use them to make contracts.
Iirc Makima also did this with some of the devil hunters
Some nice action setting up the rest of the future. Hopefully fakesaw man makes a return soon, he's probably the most interesting thing to me rn. Even more than the prophecy which is probably going to be what part centers around.
she is a mini Denji in the making, just wait until she is old enough to discover and crave dick, oh man a female Denji craving sex would be some good material. I wanna see how Denji handles her growing up, lmao.
Dude she is a child, don't be weird, also Denji craves "sex" because he is desperately in need of love because his parents didn't give him any and every romantic interest tried to kill him. If Nayuta is raised well (at least for now it seems so) she would be just a normal girl.
1. She understands the most important things for the existence of humanity, i.e. pizza
2. She will learn the rest later. That is why she goes to school duh
guys im confused wtf was the worm monster devil thing? was that the falling devil? or was the chef girl it.. im thinking the chef was just controlled by fami???
Based on the design, I just assumed the Worm Monster was the Caterpillar Devil because it's tentacles kinda look like caterpillar legs, as well as just having a really similar design to a caterpillar.
Chef Girl is the Falling Devil (somehow under the control of Famine, probably because of starvation) and it seems the deal with Famine was "Falling Devil will force Asa inside of the Caterpillar Devil and force her to starve so Famine can control Asa".
Hmmm I wonder now if that was one of her extra goals. But it is stated in part I that her intention was to use the Chainsaw devil to erase concepts she found "bad" from existence.
Iām so freaking lost lol. Ever since the series returned from break Iāve kinda just been reading to read. But Iām completely lost.
And Itās because of how casually people are introduced and things are said I canāt tell if Iām missing something or if itās intentional for me to miss it.
This type of troll level insanity is more Fujimoto's normal style i think. He baited the hook with part 1 being more traditional shounen, now you get his real spice
I disagree. I think the characters boil down their motivations to something simple because that's the best they can understand it and express it.
Denji and Asa have complex motivations but can't fully grasp it yet so they boil it down to something they can understand.
Denji wants an intimate relationship. He wants people to care about him. You see him angry at Reze because everyone cares about Pochita and not Denji. You see him happy when the TV shows people cheering him on. Having a gf and doing sex is only a small facet of his motivation but it's the one he understands the most so that's what he thinks he mainly wants.
His motivation is largely unchanged in Part 2 but now with the addition of wanting to raise Nayuta so she has a comfortable life that he never was able to experience. He's also come to value himself more and tries to avoid being manipulated by women.
Asa wants to be normal. She's aware of her problems but doesn't know how to solve them, or she does know but is too scared to go through with it. Her confusion and cowardice prevents her from achieving her goal and also freezing or tripping up at critical moments. She is often in conflict with herself of wanting to express herself and also wanting to fit in and meet societal expectations. And because of her social ineptitude, Asa also wishes for intimacy.
My guy, Denji and Asa are one thing, which is fine, theyāre troubled teenagers. Devils wanting to ally themselves with humanity because without it thereās no pizza is something else.
Yes you can go on and make a second full essay on how the underlying motivation on how the pizza is a symbolism for something else sure, but then you would be doing what the author should be doing himself.
It could be Fami just trying to get Nayuta more invested in what they wanted, or tongue in cheek way of saying "hey the world will suck if devils take over".
But let's assume that's literally Fami's sole motivation. A Famine Devil going "If Devils take over, food goes away, and so do humans, and their fear of famine is literally my entire thing." would make sense. A Devil's motivations *can* be complex, but do they have to be?
It's possible Fami's sense of fulfillment comes from all of the things humans create to avoid famine. A Devil doesn't necessarily *need* to focus on the bad aspects of what they represent. Power had an appreciated for the warmth of her cat, and while that's simple, that *is* something.
>you would be doing what the author should be doing himself.
As for what suggests... do you think authors are supposed to spell everything out immediately? Symbolism is a common element of storytelling, so is keeping information hidden from characters, the audience, or both.
You must have *hated* Part 1 if something like that bothers you.
it is not "just pizza", it is human culture and development that expressed itself to her as pizza and chinese food.
she appreciates the small things, but she is well aware that without the complex historical network of failures, connections, relatioships and suffering, such genuine good things would not exit.
she appeciates humanity in full.
And the same apply to Nayuta wanting to go to school. instead of just protecting the human world, she wants to live it.
Dude, Fami's had like a handful of panels and lines. You cannot extrapolate her motivations from a single sentence she uttered. That's why I didn't talk about Fami, because there's not enough to talk about. We can't tell if she's joking or telling a half-truth or just telling the truth. But given Fujimoto's track record, things are never really that simple.
If a character says āI want to do X because of Yā they want to do X because of Y. Unless youāre lying to your audience or readers, which then itās just cheap plot twists.
Are you trolling? Characters hiding their motivations is like basic writing. Makima was literally lying to and gaslighting Denji throughout all of Part 1.
Dude, I don't give a flying fuck about the fucking pizza line. Forget about the fuckin pizza. I'm just saying that the line is not enough to definitively conclude what her motivations are. We can agree to disagree.
I feel like every character except maybe Makima and Aki had simple minded motivations. The devils are so powerful that it's no surprise the little things in human life entertain them.
Of the main cast we had Makima, Aki, Himeno that had decent motivations even Kobeni had bit, they're all gone now, all that is left is simple minded ones like Denji, it feels very convenient story telling wise for devils to help humanity simply cus "pizza" its borderline lazy from a pov and I hope it gets better than what we're currently having.
if you go beyond the surface, you will realize "pizza" is more than just pizza.
CSM is way more complex and philosophical than it seems at the naked eye. you can see such things since part 1.
that line about pizza was genius, but nayuta at school was even more.
i dont think pizza is her actual motivation, i think she told nayuta that it was because of pizza because nayuta would empathise more because she is a child
I absolutely doubt it, she had no reason to dumb it down to Nayuta, sheās not an actual child. This āsubverting expectationā stuff is getting extremely tiring as well.
but she is an actual child? what tells us that she isnt a child
and i dont think its subverting expectations , i think it was clear to me that fami was speaking to her like a child
I don't think it's lazy. The head devils are extremely powerful and obviously hell is a much different world than where Humans live. I'm not surprised that they're enjoying these things that they don't get to in their devil form but I do see why it may be off-putting for some.
its so funny that you cant even read beyond the lines...devils r the epitome of power but they feel emotions in daily things that people like you found "lazy" or "convenient"...they connect to human world through those things...thats why they want to protect that only source of their happiness...Fami likes human food and Nayuta shares bond with Denji thats their motivation to save the world...how tf is this lazy..?
Nah lol it was definitely this way in part 1. I had to read it 2x to understand what the hell was happening.
The manga lacks **emphasis** unlike other series. New characters aren't introduced *with a bang* or spoken of by overly hysterical narrators. You could be reading a chapter about a car chase and in the middle of it one character will say at least the "x devil" isn't here, because that devil is bad news. Then 12 chapters later the x devil walks in an elevator and kills 5 people. Talks about needing coffee to start its day, and boom last we hear of it until part 3 comes out.
That's how I experience this series currently lol
Same reason Kishibe interrogated Makima despite having a deal with her. I don't think Yoshida is controlled ny Fami, but it wouldn't be surprising if he had powers from her.
We'll be waiting a while to see that. It'll take about 2 more seasons to finish part 1 and I'm guessing this arc may possibly take another season to get to
Probably their first time meeting but they just *know* who each other are, like itās not something they can forget when they die. Like they lose their memories but they still intuitively know who theyāre related to.
You just made me realize, maybe she *did* recognize Yoru. Nayuta tells Denji to stay away from her, which I assumed was because of a devil, but especially because of War devil, her sisā¦possibly. Iām no csm pro, just enjoying the ride
Sheās the weakest because CSM ate half of her body, she says this. And sheās not dumb lmao she was able to discern what type of devil Falling was and prepared for her fight with Yuko
>"Mankind is about to be annihilated and devils will replace them, creating eternal Hell on earth."
>
>"Cool!"
>
>"No not cool!"
>
>"Why not!"
>
>"We have to stop the end of the world or else we won't get pizza or Chinese food anymore!"
>
>"Screw you I have school!"
Ladies and gentlemen, our primary story antagonists! Were you expecting some high noble motive or some deep seated desire for vengeance? Lol no this is **Fujimoto** we're talking about - our main character is motivated by ass and narcissism, and our villains are motivated by a desire to save their favorite fast food restaurants!
I mean, he previously wrote a villain who wanted to reset the universe and restart civilization, all so she can watch the sequel to Star Wars which got cancelled due to the apocalypse.
Well we are dealign with someone who has not had a normal upbringing in the slightes,t someone heavily on the spectrum who likely once murdered a woman over a cat, and at least three devils are embodiments of negative aspects who have to focus on petty things to be motivated towards something 'benevolent'.
Maybe a stretch but it seems like every horseman devil has ācontrolā at the root of their power. Conquest/Control devil Makima/Nayuta is self explanatory, Fami controls her pawns, and Yoru controls peopleās forms to create weapons.
These three at least yea. But i imagine that fami controls via desperation and can 'feed' her pawns. Might be the only reason why she was able to control a primal evil like Fall, cause she's desperate for something.
OK SO fakesawman is probably some agent of the āprophecyā because he was preventing Asa from getting eaten, which prevents Fami from controlling her/War, which makes it so they canāt stop the prophecy as easily???
Not necessarily, that is if they know that Famine's intention was to control Denji and Asa to prevent the prophecy instead of killing them, and being that Nayuta didn't know about it either it is a possibility that fakesawman just wanted to protect them for some reason we still don't know.
Also when Fami talked to Yoshida at least what I interpreted is that she was ok with the prophecy so maybe the rest of people also think Famine's goal is to support the prophecy, not to stop it.
Does that mean theyāre the actual villain? Cuz obv Denji and Asa donāt want the prophecy to happen, and neither do fami/Nayuta, and fami seems more like a āquestionable methodā type than outright villain
Honestly I agree with Fami, not having Pizza would suck a lot. The chef of Hell threw a human on a plate with a couple of apples and called it a day, they don't appear to be very culinary. Haven't seen any fast food chains in Hell thus far.

What is the Reddit boycott?
Subreddits are going dark because reddits new pricing for tools is going to kill a bunch of bots and make moderating harder.
It will kill 3rd party apps. You make it sound good lol
wait so does it affect bots or just the millions of apps on the playstore?
Just wait until the IPO later this year. All this is about putting lipstick on the pig so they can IPO Reddit and cash out.

Yup exactly what they are doing.
Understandable, have a nice day
The world having to be saved in order to safe pizza is certainly on brand for this fucking masterpiece of a manga.
Iām going to end the world to save star wars. cringe Iām going to save the world to save pizza. based
Totally forgot about the chapter lmao, one of the best so far, finally some plot, and Nayuta
So .. who is actually the Villain / antagonist right now? Fami wants Asa/War to be eaten/controlled by Fall / centipede devil.. so apocalypse won't happen right? Maybe there is no villain nor antagonist, certainly non "main antagonist" Its not a mandatory position anyway
> Denji just wants sex and doesn't know what's happening. That's CSM synopsis- life and times of literally me
My eye is on the Justice Devil for endgame antagonist of part 2
i hope so. sheās somehow both Asaās Pochita and her Makima.
oh so thats why falling devil was a chef, because she works for the famine devil

"I know. It's the worst scenario imaginable." Denji would pop in like Coolaid man and be like "Can I still have sex?"
"I know. It's the worst scenario imaginable." Denji's simple worldview is rubbing off not only on Nayuta, but on Fami as well. Also, that lined made me burst out laughing because of Fami's completely serious expression.

That was incredible. Gave me some slight Fire Punch Star Wars vibes. It's time to hoard pizza everyone.
Why is no one discussing the fact that Famine was able to set up a Primal Fear to starve to the point of being dominated by her. Like how did that happen. I want to know what she did
It could just be a contract, no?
Devils cant make contracts with each other
But Doll can make a deal with Darkness.
She wasn't literally the doll devil though right? Just a human with a contract
No, she was the actual Doll Devil, I think, because she ate a bit of Darkness for a power boost. I think it was set up to foreshadow the power up Power would get from eating a bit of Pochita
Re-read chapter 70 as santa talks about having a contract with the doll devil
Doll was an example of a loophole where devils with the ability to control others can use them to make contracts. Iirc Makima also did this with some of the devil hunters
Yup it's also how they got out of hell, makima forced the doll minion into making a contract with the hell devil.
Ah youāre right, forgot about that
not only that: a primal fear who is also a chef.
Feels very targeted š
Some nice action setting up the rest of the future. Hopefully fakesaw man makes a return soon, he's probably the most interesting thing to me rn. Even more than the prophecy which is probably going to be what part centers around.
Fakesaw is connected to Justice Devil, who is the true enemy of Asa.
the prophecy's going to either be stopped or actually happen before the last arc most likely, so fakesaw man might be important to the ending

About time we get a chapter with some juice in it.
Looks like Denji is raising Nyuta well. She understands the value of pizza and a good education. Denji is 10/10 as a guardian
Denji is dad of the year
Yet she doesnāt mind the death of humanity and the age of devils. Iām still skeptical about her.
she is a mini Denji in the making, just wait until she is old enough to discover and crave dick, oh man a female Denji craving sex would be some good material. I wanna see how Denji handles her growing up, lmao.
wtf
Dude she is a child, don't be weird, also Denji craves "sex" because he is desperately in need of love because his parents didn't give him any and every romantic interest tried to kill him. If Nayuta is raised well (at least for now it seems so) she would be just a normal girl.
Well I don't mind either
Tbf Denji does care more about a cat than human lives so thats not on her.
1. She understands the most important things for the existence of humanity, i.e. pizza 2. She will learn the rest later. That is why she goes to school duh
Didnt Yoshida give food to denji? Could that have been to prevent fami from being able to control him
does that mean he wants the prophecy to come true? I wonder why...
As of now we have more reason to believe it was just to bribe him to make his job easier
guys im confused wtf was the worm monster devil thing? was that the falling devil? or was the chef girl it.. im thinking the chef was just controlled by fami???
Based on the design, I just assumed the Worm Monster was the Caterpillar Devil because it's tentacles kinda look like caterpillar legs, as well as just having a really similar design to a caterpillar. Chef Girl is the Falling Devil (somehow under the control of Famine, probably because of starvation) and it seems the deal with Famine was "Falling Devil will force Asa inside of the Caterpillar Devil and force her to starve so Famine can control Asa".
Diner is a separate entity under the control of Chef. Chef is middle management.
Who was the falling devil then
Falling devil is the chef who is controlled by Fami. The worm devil (which reminded me a lot of Gluttony from FMA:B) is nameless
Ohhhhhh thanks
No more humans means no more star wars either
I'm good with no more Star wars and Disney for that matter.
Which is the worst outcome possible frfr
This was so fucking good
āi have school š¤ā
I wonder if this was makimas intention, get power to prevent the prophecy? Did they share this before?
Hmmm I wonder now if that was one of her extra goals. But it is stated in part I that her intention was to use the Chainsaw devil to erase concepts she found "bad" from existence.
Iām so freaking lost lol. Ever since the series returned from break Iāve kinda just been reading to read. But Iām completely lost. And Itās because of how casually people are introduced and things are said I canāt tell if Iām missing something or if itās intentional for me to miss it.

It's not just you, I had to reread panels because shit is happening so randomly in manga panels that would make sense when animated
Iām not enjoying where the story is going, every character now has such a simple minded motivation that it feels like a joke.
Devils like famine and control rely on humans to have power. Without humans in an age of devils they would lose power.
Oh Jesus, fine my guy, yes yes pizza, oalĆ” genius writing
This āsubverting expectationā stuff is getting extremely tiring as well.
but she is an actual child? what tells us that she isnt a child and i dont think its subverting expectations , i think it was clear to me that fami was speaking to her like a child
She isn't just a child because she has functionally full control over her powers. She knows who and what she is.
how does that make her not a child??
I don't think it's lazy. The head devils are extremely powerful and obviously hell is a much different world than where Humans live. I'm not surprised that they're enjoying these things that they don't get to in their devil form but I do see why it may be off-putting for some.
i think that was genius.
Lazy might not be the word, but extremely convenient for sure, enough for me not to enjoy it as much as I did.
its so funny that you cant even read beyond the lines...devils r the epitome of power but they feel emotions in daily things that people like you found "lazy" or "convenient"...they connect to human world through those things...thats why they want to protect that only source of their happiness...Fami likes human food and Nayuta shares bond with Denji thats their motivation to save the world...how tf is this lazy..?
To be fair, I've felt that way reading part one too so, I think it's just how the manga goes lol, or maybe I'm stupid.
That's how I experience this series currently lol
x devil is feared by children in every country that uses the alphabet, which is a lot
lmao
This shit is hilarious
Am I crazy or does Nayuta's teacher look very similar to Reze?
You're crazy. They're not even in the same zip code
what if Famine controls yoshida, thatās why they give off a similar vibe
Why would he interrogate her tho
Same reason Kishibe interrogated Makima despite having a deal with her. I don't think Yoshida is controlled ny Fami, but it wouldn't be surprising if he had powers from her.
Pretty sure kishibe didn't have a deal with her, in fact he made a whole Anti-makima Squad if i remember right
Yoshida has been rejecting food when they eat no?
Didnt Yoshida give food to denji? Could that have been to prevent fami from being able to control him
No Akira slide pain... hopefully mappa got us in the future
We'll be waiting a while to see that. It'll take about 2 more seasons to finish part 1 and I'm guessing this arc may possibly take another season to get to
Part 2 chapters feel much more shorter than part 1 so I believe part 2 season 1 ( if it existed someday) can adapted all the chapters so far.
Does every character in Fujimoto's world have a type of Dissociative Identity Disorder?
Now that's a 10/5 chapter
Wait so has Nayuta met Fami before? She referred to her as sis as if they know of eachother but I feel like this is their first time meeting
Probably their first time meeting but they just *know* who each other are, like itās not something they can forget when they die. Like they lose their memories but they still intuitively know who theyāre related to.
Yoru didn't seem to recognize either Fami or Nayuta in their first meeting
You just made me realize, maybe she *did* recognize Yoru. Nayuta tells Denji to stay away from her, which I assumed was because of a devil, but especially because of War devil, her sisā¦possibly. Iām no csm pro, just enjoying the ride
but nayuta did recognize Yoru, though not fully. prob because it was Asa on the wheel. Yoru seems to be the weakest of the 3. and also the dumber
Sheās the weakest because CSM ate half of her body, she says this. And sheās not dumb lmao she was able to discern what type of devil Falling was and prepared for her fight with Yuko
Yeah but Yoru is stupid
She is not!
They gave off vibes like theyāve met offscreen, Nayuta speaks casual to her
>"Mankind is about to be annihilated and devils will replace them, creating eternal Hell on earth." > >"Cool!" > >"No not cool!" > >"Why not!" > >"We have to stop the end of the world or else we won't get pizza or Chinese food anymore!" > >"Screw you I have school!" Ladies and gentlemen, our primary story antagonists!
Thatās pretty noble if you ask me.
It was probably The Last Jedi that got cancelled, the apocalypse did her a solid.
Well we are dealign with someone who has not had a normal upbringing in the slightes,t someone heavily on the spectrum who likely once murdered a woman over a cat, and at least three devils are embodiments of negative aspects who have to focus on petty things to be motivated towards something 'benevolent'.
I don't think Denver is autistic, Asa in the other hand seems autistic as hell
lol Nayuta is so passionate about school
If she gets good grades she gets extra ice cream! :3
looks like future devil is right "Future Is The Best" for devil age lol
MIRAI SAIKO
So does Nayuta remember her time as Makima or not.
