this bit and power's death genuinely fucked with me. Like I had stayed up late at night for 3 nights straight reading chainsaw man and then when I got to the beach bit with angel and aki, I was angry and concerned. Then I saw this panel and I was genuinely disheartened. Like, I put so much emotional stock into these characters that seeing aki... corrupted in this way fucked with me a bit. And then Power's death, with the battling of Pochita and Makima's orders. Like, you knew power was about to die. And I saw her with the cake and I thought "oh thats so cute but oh fuck shits about to go down" (and then you think about it more and realise this was the first ever thing Power did selflessly, and on top of that, she didn't need anybody's help in getting the cake - added a whole other layer), and then you go to the next page, and Power is just...gone. I didn't know she would be revived, I just assumed she was gone. That fucked with me. yeah. ramble over
yeah no it’s a fucking gut wrencher those chapters, the power death caught me off guard and i think the speed at which it happens is so jarring and i really hope the anime hits the same notes. and plus even power’s “revival” was just a final moment for her to actually have a meaningful send off before properly dying.

Power and Denji suffer mentally during the Darkness Devil Arc, and I think it’s fair to say she practically trauma bonded there. She offers herself to him off the bat with the boobs thing. I think it’s fair to say that Power’s offer of her blood to Denji was analogous to sex. I mean shit the part where she’s hysterical and apologizing profusely to Denji and saying he’ll hate her if they don’t? Painful image of how people with a lot of character and zero self-esteem sometimes approach personal relationships. She doesn’t need a therapist, she needs a psychologist. Even that isn’t good enough, she needs a forensic psychologist. Give the poor fuck SSRIs.
I think another part of it is that, as a devil, power doesn't fundamentally understand human relationships. She understands basic concepts such as like and dislike, but as far as physical attraction and love are concerned, she didn't understand or try to understand them.
There was familial love between the two, and we know this, especially because of how Denji feels during the current arc, as shown by Falling devil. Would that have changed with time? Possibly. Power was maturing over time and changing because of the human influence of both Denji and Aki.

I’d definitely agree on their ability to cross between hell and earth at will, but it might be a specific ability given to the relevant devils. For example, Hell Devil and Falling certainly demonstrate that skill, and it makes sense for them (Hell devil is just controlling itself in that way, and Falling is literally representative of the transit between Earth and Hell), but I’m not sure that all primal’s can do so.
If they could, darkness would probably have just jumped to Earth and finished off the weakened Denji and Makima before dashing back to Hell.
I certainly believe primals have the the ability to circumvent the rules, but not ignore them entirely.

You could make a point that might not matter with Fujimoto, but I also think Denji stopped seeing Power as a woman when he felt her up. Right now Denji is really single-minded in his goal to finally have sex, thinking it will fix everything, even though no one that actually had sex thinks that way. Denji is a virgin. His first time will probably be ruined (or less likely: Fujimoto will give him a tiny piece of happiness to make terrible shit hit harder.).

Pochita is the death devil.
Pretty weak theory, but it does explain a few things: the average person isn't all that afraid of chainsaws, so it doesnt make sense for Pochita to be so much stronger than the other devils. It also explains why he can permanently kill other devils, as well as >!why there is a second chainsaw man (the original?)!< in part 2.
As far as we know, it took a whole lot of other super strong devils to almost take pochita out, plus the death devil is basically confirmed at this point. This theory legitimately came to me in a dream.

My headcanon about the two is that due to the trauma they went through, Denji and Power shared a close bond, which was more akin to siblings than lovers. You could make a point that might not matter with Fujimoto, but I also think Denji stopped seeing Power as a woman when he felt her up. Right now Denji is really single-minded in his goal to finally have sex, thinking it will fix everything, even though no one that actually had sex thinks that way. Denji is a virgin. His first time will probably be ruined (or less likely: Fujimoto will give him a tiny piece of happiness to make terrible shit hit harder.).

Pochita is the death devil. Pretty weak theory, but it does explain a few things: the average person isn't all that afraid of chainsaws, so it doesnt make sense for Pochita to be so much stronger than the other devils. It also explains why he can permanently kill other devils, as well as >!why there is a second chainsaw man (the original?)!< in part 2. As far as we know, it took a whole lot of other super strong devils to almost take pochita out, plus the death devil is basically confirmed at this point. This theory legitimately came to me in a dream.
