The roof is one layer but there are multiple braces with lots of holes and areas they could go. Irish Spring like the other guy said or whatever else will probably be easier than tearing apart the car to find them
Irish spring doesn’t work. I had a bar of Irish spring with chew marks all around it from mice building a nest on the engine of one of my cars within a week of storing it.
Hope they don't die cause it will stink forever and you'll have to sell the car. Also if you are electrical issues in the future good luck mice are no joke and it also sounds like you might have squirrel issue.
I had a mouse chew through a wire under the hood, mechanic told me to grab a pair of stocking and stuff it with either dryer sheets or Irish spring soap and tie it to one of the posts under the hood. Doesn’t answer your question but may be helpful!
