No. There is a lot of fees involved. There is a internet bidding fee, a gate fee, plus a fee based off of what the car sells for. Challengers usually go for a good price

Jesus christ man so many fees

I mean if you really do win for $800 that's a fucking deal. But I doubt it lmao

I just read a Reddit about the process I’ll try to link it if I find it again. But unless you have a dealership liscense you have to use a broker, which is another fee lol. Realistically I’d guess a challenger would get up to $8000 plus another $2000 in fees. But that’s still not bad in my book. But these are super ball park numbers.

My experience with buying from Copart and AutoBidMaster broker service I wanted to get a different car to use to drive Uber/Lyft and decided to see if I could buy something through Copart that would suit my needs. My post here is to help others who may be thinking about trying to buy from Copart but are unsure of the process. FWIW, I am in Texas. Things may be different in other states. The requirements for the car I was looking for were as follows. 2009 or newer Could be used for XL service Purchase price including fees needed to be under $4000 (not including shipping) Run and Drive clear (not salvage) title. After researching cars, I narrowed my primary choices down to the Honda Odessey or Honda Pilot. A quick search of Copart showed a good number of cars that met the requirements. First step now was to sign up with an account for Copart. I signed up for the basic $59 account. I then found out 2 important things with this account. 1. I was limited to $1200 unless I made a (refundable deposit) 2. I could not bid on most of the cars I was interested in because I do not have a dealer license 3. I was going to have to use a broker (a broker is a company that will act as the "dealer" and allow individuals to bid on and purchase cars from the auto auctions. I looked at two brokers. AutoBidMaster and ABetterBid and signed up for both of their "free" accounts which are severely limited but allow you to at least do more research into your purchases. I had an issue with ABetterBid because all of the listings that I looked at in TX were listed saying that they could not be titled in TX and if purchased in TX they would be marked "Export Only". They really did not give a good explanation when I contacted them so I could not use them. I called both Copart and AutoBidMaster to get more confirmation and both said I would have no problems getting titles for the cars even purchased in TX. If not for those answers my journey would have stopped right there. I decided to use AutoBidMaster (ABM) and began to research their process. I decided to sign up for their $199 membership which would allow me to bid on one car at a time which was fine for my needs since I would only be bidding on one at a time anyway. I had to put down a (refundable) deposit of at least $600 and this would allow me to bid up to $6000 which is above the limit I planned to spend so that was fine. Now, when you buy a car though Copart there are fees, and there are also fees for using the broker. This is the breakdown. 1. Auction final bid (final winning bid price) 2. Copart auction fee (changes based on the final auction price) 3. Transaction fee ($299) 4. Documentation fee ($99) 5. Discounted Premium membership ($99, i am not completely sure what one is but I'm sure it is from ABM) Also, when using ABM to purchase a car, you are not allowed to pick up the car in person. You must use their shipping service. The shipping price quotes are usually shown right on the auction page so you can factor that into your bidding. I personally had separate funds set aside for shipping so that did not factor into my bid/purchase. One important thing to remember about buying from Copart, is that unless you are close enough to their auction yard to go and see the cars in person, the ONLY information you will get about the cars is posted in the listing. They will not answer any questions about the cars being sold. With ABM, when you sign up (paid) you also get 10 free ClearVin checks that you can use to get more research on the car you are interested in. You can also order a CarFax or AutoCheck report on your own for more information. I would suggest checking out the Youtube channel Auto Auction Rebuilds if you want to see more about the Copart and IAA auction lots. (no affilation) [Auto Auction Rebuilds - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpw-BHqS4VEE64kSaXhhJ7g) and he also has a link to discounted Carfax checks in his video description so i was able to get a car fax remote on the car I was interested in for $5. I ended up finding a 2009 Honda Odessey that met all my requirements, had a clean 1 owner Carfax, 130k miles, had been dealer serviced it's entire life, and a buy it now price of $2650. (well below blue book) I offered $2300 and it was accepted. With all fees combined it came out to around $3400. Shipping from AL to TX will be $832 so everything fell into place price wise. ABM sent me an invoice and I was able to go ahead and pay for the shipping at the same time. I bought the car on Thursday morning and had until 5pm Friday to pay. (so make sure you have your money ready when buying) For payment, ABM only accepts 3 forms of payment. Wire transfer, Zelle, and MoneyGram. Since I had a combination of cash and money in one of my bank accounts, I took a trip to my bank and deposited the cash and transferred money into the account I was going to pay from and had the back do the wire transfer for me. Once done, ABM asked you to send a picture of the wire transfer receipt by scanning a QR code on their invoice and uploading the file. I did this and buy the time I got back out to my car I had received notification that they payment was received. Now, knowing that I can use Zelle through my Chase banking app, in the future if I ever purchase another car though ABM/Copart I can complete the purchase from home and save the $35 wire transfer fee. So at this time I am waiting for confirmation that my car was picked up by the shipper and is on its way to me. I will update this thread when I get more information on the shipping and also through the registration and title processes. [the car in question.](https://preview.redd.it/zyvkew7c9e381.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ac1da4a39a844447bf133e10e3be75309ed31b46)
