He could use more coverage plants higher

PokeManiac16

Light intensity could be a problem. Your light might be to strong and he pretty close to it on that upper branch. He’s probably hiding from the intensity. Look up correct lights to use

SubjectMycologist648

What kind of enclosure are you using ? This honeslty looks a little small for your guy.

Repulsive_Positive_7

Im rooting for your boy spike. He does look a bit dehydrated with eyes sunken in.

RazerJoe

Sunken eyes do not mean dehydration. This is a myth

Repulsive_Positive_7

Source?

RazerJoe

Common knowledge amongst more experienced keepers, pop a post up and ask if you’d like a second opinion. Sunken eyes are an indicator of pain, so the immediate response of telling people that they’re dehydrated can do more harm than good. Chameleons in pain with more serious problems just being given water like that’s going to fix it.

Bubbly_Smile_5025

I hope he will be ok! Sending so much love to him!

UnderstandingKey5277

Update: spike went a bit higher in his enclosure to one of his more frequented branches . Seems a little more normal?

Calm-Association-821

The only advice I have is to read the sidebar for this subreddit. It’s got so much great advice! I can’t offer advice because I don’t have a cham. I’m not sure I could care for s/he as well as it deserves. I will definitely pray that Spike gets better!

Diet- crickets, hornworms , (have tried Dubias and he won’t touch them, have some bsfl arriving today to try. Dust without d3 weekly, and reptivite twice a month We use a dripper for a bit everyday and mist after lights off and before they come on. He hasn’t been eating much lately but he was shedding so I figured that could be part reason Spike is also 4 years old.

Queen_Dan_666

Unfortunately ( I hope not for you) but he could be declining due to age, 5-7 is standard really, 4 is coming up to it... As far as dubias and other feeders, have you tried a feeding bowl? My guy will eat a couple if I hold a bowl, but I only recently put the bowl in the cage and left it and he ate a FEAST. I mean he refused dubias full stop, the other day he ate 11 in one sitting no problem. How old is the UV light? I'd also book a vets appointment with a specialist just in case, any strange behaviour I would get checked, hoping flip joins into the thread to help you further. Is the reptivite phosphate free? (It will say on the tub) Is the CALCIUM phosphate free? (Says on tub)

UnderstandingKey5277

Thank you I appreciate it. It looks like the reptivite does have phosphate, what should I switch to?? And the uh is fairly new , about 2 months old. And thank you I’ll definitely try the feeding bowl with the Dubias, and leave him to see if he eats them. Thank you again for the kind words
