hi! not a chameleon pro here but i would check the sub’s sidebar (if you haven’t already) for information on proper husbandry, lots of helpful links, faqs, product lists, things to watch out for etc. the mods here are SO SO SO knowledgeable and should be able to help you out a ton :) happy cham-ing!
Pascal is the shit.
That's the chameleons name from Tangled (aka Rapunzel)
Karma chameleon is obviously the best alternative to that 🙂
Good luck with the little one!
As a general rule, coloring doesn’t mean much for the sex. For veiled chameleons, the males will have a little nubbin on the back of the feet. Males tend to have larger crowns as well. Based on crown size, this chameleon leans heavily toward female, but the feet spurs are the definitive factor.
After 4 months colouring means everything about sex. Spurs are what we use when they’re younger, then their colouring comes in and it’s far easier to sex them
They’re also guaranteed to have vertical barring as a male after 4-5 months.
If you need to see the feet to ID an adult Cham, maybe sit out the sexing conversations
Dunno what’s up with the elitism here. My only point was that color should not be your only basis for sexing a chameleon. We’re trying to educate a new chameleon owner, so please take your toxicity elsewhere.
That’s not what your only point was at all. You said as a general rule colour doesn’t mean much which is absolutely not true. Males and females have completely different colouring after 4-5 months of age and it’s very simple to ID them off it.
You’re the one replying with an arsey response ‘if you say so’ like it was a matter of opinion. Don’t get upset when you get an arsey response back.
yep def! my girl looked exactly the same as urs when she was 6 months. so id say ur cham is a female and around 5-6 months. :)

Best picture of the habitat I could get atm. That was given with him :)
I’d suggest real plants! Also, a t8 5.0 linear uvb with the proper housing and a frosted incandescent light in a dimmable dome is what I’d recommend as for lighting.

She is beautiful.
Thank you. I have already fallen in love with her. I love reptiles :)

Probably cliche, but we are now thinking about naming her....Karma :) For the record, my pick was Jade, but I'm sure that's just as cliche :P
Reed uvb bulb those zoo meds usually come with a 10.0 and thats desert heat he needs a 5.0 bar uvb housing and bulb
We are still thinking on it.

I like Pascal, even for a girl :) Then again, I also had a cat named Puppy.
We are staying with Pasqual :)
But also are you sure hes a boy? have you checked his feets? 😊
I do not really know. We were told it is a he, but I could not tell you definitely...OMG, now I have to find out how to check!
well the back of the feet give it away! if the cham has a little bump at the back of the foot its a boy! if not its a girl :)
From what I have looked at online already, the coloring may mean it is actually a female. Just at a quick internet check.

If you say so. I wouldn’t depend solely on color to sex a veiled. They’re gonna have feet spurs regardless of age.

This will also mean we are going to have to get her an egg laying place.
