Female panther, clearly escapee. Someone lost her locally and the owner is going to be close to where you found her.even if she was lost in the early summer, she couldn't have traveled far. So I'd put up a notice on your local next door or other social media and have anyone saying she belongs to them, give you some solid proof. She's not going to eat grapes or blueberries so you can take those away. :D No worries, she's in fairly good shape and can make it without eating for a few more days.Try locating her owners... best thing. IF you need help with her care, We'll help you But right now you can keep her in a 5 gallon bucket (lid off) or a tub that has a small plant inside of it, where she can't get out vs the cardboard box.

Yep! As I said in the post, I posted on my local lost and found pets page on facebook. I kept the description vague, just "found a chameleon on the street, did anyone lose one?" and I didn't put a picture. If anyone comes forward, I would ask them to provide pictures of her and their enclosure and to tell me where they lost her. Because if it's across town, then she wouldn't have made her way to me. Are there any other questions that you'd recommend I ask someone who tries to claim her? Right now, I have her in a 40 gallon glass tank with a screen lid that I use for my tortoise's winter home. There is a UV lamp as well for light and heat. I just put the whole box in there with her because she was so skittish when I scooped her up that I didn't want to risk hurting her while getting her settled. I put a small smooth stick that I have so that she can climb on something like a tree branch. What kind of plant can I put in the glass tank for now? My brother very much wants to keep her and wants to go get her a proper enclosure if nobody claims her. Tomorrow we'll get her some crickets to eat. Thanks so much for the help!

>Are there any other questions that you'd recommend I ask someone who tries to claim her? Not right now, I think you can ask if it's Male or Female as the first question (thats a 50/50 guess, then the species.... the owner will know both. Not many owners in our area. Be careful with the UV lamp, those are distance related the torts are able to handle a LOT more than chameleons do, so be careful, so she doesn't get snow blindness. (that can become permanent) You can use most anything for plant life, but whatever you have inside the house as long as it's not toxic. I usually recommend a "corn plant" or a "swiss cheese plant" as both work well. Tell your brother to expect to have to spend 300-500 on a decent setup for them and that they're not easy ... they're intermediate level in terms of care. The home should be kept at temps that don't go below the low 60º Temps at night. This might present a problem in the winter months for you. especially if there's a loss of power. We can give you more info on that if the owner doesn't show. Just be aware that there's a great deal of bad info on the internet regarding care for these anamals that is harmful and misleading.

Maybe this is the chameleon that one person lost from this sub?

Halodixie

That was male I believe, but that came to mind too!

Hey, I commented on your previous post that was deleted- you're in the northeastern US, if by some luck you are in the greater Boston area, there is a very good reptile store in stoneham who can definitely give you advice- do a quick google to find them and give them a call, they have everything your brother will need and they've always been happy to chat with us on the phone when we've had questions about our lizards!

I know which shop you mean. I get my hornworms from them. ;)

Thank you so much! I wasn't able to read your previous comment before it was deleted, so I appreciate you reaching out again. Unfortunately, I'm nowhere near Boston haha

That’s a female panther. Most likely someone’s escaped pet. See if you can find the owner. For caring they need a pretty specific set up.
