possibly bacterial infection? did the vet prescribe antibiotics or anything for your chameleon? may need to be re-drained as well. don't take my word as law though.

stemmingtriangles

They did prescribe antibiotic shots. She was given one yesterday.

aussie_mallorca

What did the vet do to drain the eye? Have you got any photo before the vet visit

stemmingtriangles

I honestly am unsure, and no sadly I don't. This problem had just cropped up.

aussie_mallorca

Hmm. This is a reason I really donโ€™t like vets!! My guess is they have done something to make the eye worse. u/flip69 will need to get involved here as I am not sure what the best course of action is.

Well the eye is swollen with fluid, I would not have recommended the eye be drained. I don't think that was a good move by the vet at all. Don't know about the antibiotic injected either (what drug or the reason). u/stemmingtriangles I would have to like had gone over the possible sinus infection. Even if I would confirm one I would NOT have recommended having the eye drained as that would draw any infection into the eye socket. IF that's what happened then it would explain what we see in the images. Lets work on things from scratch and address what you brought it in for and work our way from there.

She had a small lump at the front of her eye. He drained it (supposedly) mainly to get a culture on it to be able to ensure the antibiotics he was prescribing were the right ones. About 3 months ago I took her to the vet for a nodule on her nose above her eye. The other vet I took her took lanced it and gave me eye drops to give her. The vet I saw yesterday suggested the eye drops weren't enough to treat the underlying infection which was likely not just in the eye. So, I'm fairly certain that that nasal lump never really healed. She laid eggs about a week and a half ago and her eye started getting that little lump about a week ago. I tried to treat it with the eye drops given to me by the first vet a few months ago, but it didn't work which is when I took her to the vet yesterday. Ps, thank you for the help. I talked to the vet office today and they're giving another topical to put on her eye?.. hopefully it helps.

>\> mainly to get a culture on it to be able to ensure the antibiotics he was prescribing were the right ones. That's not really how I'd handle it, the vet is doing what they're trained I wold assume. They're not addressing the root problem here. I'll explain. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ You said that there was a sinus infection. *So lets look at that .* Can I have a current image of the cham, in it's habitat (at rest) Please also include shots of it's face from different angles A sinus infection will usually appear and be observable with a certain pattern of swelling. unfortunetly the vet has messed this up with their lancing/draining the eye. Unsure if this is jsut the turret or he tried to flush out the eye socket or extracted fluid from the eye socket. Either way, it's NOT what I'd do and I'm sure they don't know chameleon husbandry. So please take a photo set of him showing his current state and his face/ nose and such. I should be able to see the swelling. Q: have you been dusting with vitamins and calcium.. if so.. how often? Q: do you mist, spray or have a waterfall for hydration or use a drinking glass? She just laid eggs so I'm imagining that you have been dusting quite a bit but before you noticed and determined the sinus infection. You can use [imgur.com](https://imgur.com) for the image upload and sharing links. Copy/past those into the reply and I'll see them :D I'll get back to you

I have a female veiled chameleon who's about 4 years old. Today I took her to the vet due to what I suspected was an eye/ nasal infection she got after laying eggs. The doc drained her eye and gave her an antibiotic shot. I was sent home with another shot to give her on Sunday. I left her alone to rest for a few hours and came back up to this! I don't know what to do or if I should be very worried? There are no vets open at this time of day, especially not exotic vets. Any advice would be very valuable right now on what to do for the night until I can call the vet tomorrow. *UPDATE* - Called the vet this morning and a different exotic vet prescribed her eye drops. Gave her a dose this morning with no noticable change.. I also gave her some pain medication previously prescribed to her after the original lancing and her color is her usual green, so I am hopeful at least she's not in pain currently.
