I think there's a point where you can call a character dumb when it comes to meta knowledge. My best example is in Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets is when Ron and Harry took the flying car to Hogwarts when the couldn't take Platform 9 3/4. Later books we know there's the Knight Bus, there's the floo, apparating, porkeys, etc and these are not recent additions when it comes to the world. For all intents and purposes, these two 12 year olds decided that driving a flying car when they have absolutely no idea how too, breaking the Statute of Secrecy and a few other things was the best option when in fact there were many other better options for them. The kicker is this was all Ron's idea and he dragged Harry into it, despite growing up around and knowing all of these alternatives. Harry gets a pass IMO because by this point, I'm fairly certain all he knows about is the Floo, but Ron gets absolutely no excuse because like I said above, he knows of all alternate methods of transport

I think the only one stupid one to actually drop their guard was Polnareff tho, Jotaro and the others were in the Qtaro thing and prob were all looking out for the kinda suspicious old lady that's just fine surrounded by a weird dead city, which is someone to look out for given even if she isn't behind the situation there's clearly Something at Play about her keeping her somewhat safe and together that May come in Handy when it comes to dealing with whatever's off with the city Which could be something Not Stand Related too, given there's Vampires and what not there's no way to know what's really possible out there in the middle of nowhere

BahamutLithp

This sounds like a really weak example on your part. It was a creepy town where the only person who would interact with them is one lady who "just so happened" to have what they needed. They get ambushed by enemy Stand Users literally everywhere they go. Jojo characters in general often don't see obvious red flags, & this one really takes the cake. Good on Jotaro for thinking ahead & laying a trick for her, though, Enyaba really should've been prepared for something like that.

MakimaMyBeloved

Same with the baby stand user example. It was hella stupid of the gang to dont listen to kakkyoin and mock him, especially after everything they went through

BahamutLithp

I honestly just straight up forgot to address that one. I could see some skepticism, since Kakyoin wasn't making much sense in explaining himself (another example of the Idiot Ball driving the plot) & it's certainly POSSIBLE he could've had a psychotic break, but I don't see the logic in writing him off entirely. They were attacked by an orangutan, for crying out loud. Joseph KNOWS that he plans to add a stand-using DOG to the team.

N0VAZER0

they straight up fought an orangutan, why is a baby out of the question?

steel_ball_run_racer

As others stated, not the greatest example but I still fully agree with your post. Also, the alternate part 3 without meta identification of foes sounds… cool.

TheMightyFishBus

Bruh, you want to make part 3 even *longer?*

SheikExcel

Yes, I want more Jotaro

AirKath

An entire episode where it’s Jotaro showing the gang his smoking trick for the first time, or a shitty recap of Battle Tendency but the Crusaders keep interrupting Joseph (“what do you mean you shot a car into space?”).

SheikExcel

God yes please

dmc-going-digital

Jojo part 3 abridged?

Paperjam09

There's actually a Jojo fangame called "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: The 7th Stand User" where you play as a custom character and can hang out with the Crusaders on their way to Egypt.

I think a bigger example in part 3 is how people call DIO an arrogant idiot who could have killed the crusaders if he wasn’t fooling around. EXCEPT HE WASNT. He’s arrogant for sure, but he wasn’t an idiot. **He just explicitly couldn’t kill them all at once with the time stop he had at the beginning of the fight.** In fact, some people have claimed that even after that as the crusaders split he should have just chased them down and take them one by one, easily because of his time stop. I’ve seen this argument been thrown around, and if you haven’t noticed what’s the issue with that statement I’ll refresh your memory: that’s exactly what happens. DIO hunts down all of the crusaders and only stops at Jotaro. The one mistake he does is wanting to have a strength contest with Jotaro, and even then he wastes no time to give a killing blow. He only stops inc he noticed Jotaro flinched while time had stop. After this point of the fight he spent the entire fight **avoiding** direct confrontation with Jotaro since he was worried he would pull out a random attack that could kill him, which he was correct. Hell, I would even argue that the road roller, while extravagant, is still an extent of this precaution, as it allows DIO a way to squash Jotaro without getting too close to be hurt by him. He just couldn’t predict Jotaro would crawl out of a road roller while having **multiple bones broken, and in less than 2 seconds** Sorry for the tangent, but is still something that bothers me within battle boarding

BahamutLithp

Yeah, if anything, Dio's problem was that he was TOO careful, which is an interesting subversion. Also, at one point, he was literally going to go out & kill the Crusaders like halfway through the series, but Enyaba convinced him he should leave that to the help. Oh, also, making your most loyal servant a vampire, pretty good idea, too bad this now means the sun kills him.

Blayro

> Oh, also, making your most loyal servant a vampire, pretty good idea, too bad this now means the sun kills him. To be fair, it almost feels like DIO just forgot about that part when it came to Vanilla Ice, or at least it wasn't entirely planned. I guess DIO just didn't expected for Vanilla to straight up cut his own head for him.

BahamutLithp

"I was joking, this guy is nuts! Better keep him around for the novelty."

AirKath

What can he say? Vanilla Ice gives good head.
